I'm trying to upload a .gif file as my avatar(from my PC) and it says i cannot upload that type of file,though it clearly states above that .gifs can be uploaded

Yeah, it does that shit sometimes...
Just upload it to an image hosting site, like I was saying before; it's a trouble saver.
