Title: Which GTA was/is your favorite?
Description: and what do you want to return from it?

Yackemflaber - April 19, 2008 07:14 PM (GMT)
Personally I love Vice City more than the others, because it had the perfect amount of content where it was just enough to keep you pushing forward (unlike GTA3) but not so much that you got scared of never being able to do everything (Like SA)
plus the soundtrack and 80s atmosphere really carried it a long way, where as GTA3 was always dark and grim with an overall gray color scheme, and San Andreas was mostly a dusty brown.

as for what from that game I want them to bring back?
The blood/rain splatter on the screen would be a welcomed return :D

So what do you guys think?

Gene - April 19, 2008 07:37 PM (GMT)
The originals XD no I like San An the most, more choice and stuff.

Muikuli - April 19, 2008 07:43 PM (GMT)
GTA2 slays. Especially now that it's free. From the 3D one's, Vice City is obviously the best. SA just somehow didn't get to the level of it. VC has the right atmosphere with right amount of humour.

abc123 - April 19, 2008 07:46 PM (GMT)
San Andreas, but Vice City is about 1% behind it.

Roy Campbell - April 19, 2008 07:51 PM (GMT)
GTA3 for me. It was such a big step up from the 2D versions, they make the transaction from 2D to 3D PERFECTLY.

GTA3 will always be the best GTA for me, so many memories, oh how I loved that Banshee up by 8 ball's place.

btw, why was this topic locked and then re-opened?

Vice City.

San Andreas was a great game, I'm just not a big fan of the 'Yeah homie, lets pull our pants down and go shoot some mofo's who been sayin shit bout ma bitch.' type of game.

micster - April 19, 2008 08:10 PM (GMT)
Vice City.

GTA3 was amazing but the scenario of VC and the soundtrack just made it. I agree with Hippysnake about how SA was all 'yeye blap blap dat nig yo' which got boring after 4 mins

S-SnakeJ135 - April 19, 2008 08:12 PM (GMT)
GTA:Vice City Stories. Just loved it.

Hippysnake - April 19, 2008 08:13 PM (GMT)
Seriously? I hate VCS to bits...

Helikaon - April 19, 2008 08:26 PM (GMT)
I hated VCS after a while. But first I loved it because it was like "holy shit I'm back in Vice City".

III was outstanding for its time, but I just cannot play is anymore. Although looking back now its music is outstanding, RiseFM was simply brilliant.

Vice City was my favourite, the theme and music just made it perfect.

Hippysnake pretty much said all I need to say about SA, theme goes a hell of a long way to making a good game, its the reason I'm never going to play a Star Trek game. Although I've recently started playing again and I'm hooked on Radio Los Santos.

LCS was just bad. I liked seeing Tony and Sal again, but it was just terrible compared to the other games.

OcelotSnake - April 19, 2008 08:41 PM (GMT)
Vice by far.

GTAIII was a bit bland and because I played it way after Vice it didn't have any lasting appeal for me. As for SA - the majority of the themes/characters in the game didn't really appeal or resonate with me so I 100%'d it and haven't played it since. The hybird plot didn't do much for it either; it suffered from being neither a distinct parody, like Vice, or a more mature story like IV is going to be.

WhySoSerious - April 19, 2008 09:08 PM (GMT)
Hmmm I liked Vice City more but GTA4 will be the best by far.

ichbinscissors61 - April 19, 2008 09:21 PM (GMT)
My favourite was also Vice City. There are a lot of reasons, perhaps one being the fact it was the first GTA game I owned. I love 80's music, so VC was perfect for me in the regard, it's hard to choose a radio station, as there are generally at least 2 songs on that I like at the same time.

Tommy was my favourite main character as well, he was just so smooth and relaxed, violent when needed, but he seemed a great guy, as long as you didn't piss him off.

And the scenery was great, the neon lights, the beach, everything. Great atmosphere this game had.

VC is only second in my most played games to MGS. I think it will always be my favourite GTA game. :P

I accidentally had it set as "poll answer only" so no one could post a reply, but I got a mod/admin to correct it for me

The Snake - April 19, 2008 10:04 PM (GMT)
My favourite GTA is San Andreas that part is the best i think.

Aboutreika_Snake - April 19, 2008 10:15 PM (GMT)
GTA3 took it to a whole new level with 3D graphics and Vice City improved on it but the sheer size and different features in San Andreas makes it the best, IMO.

Young Snake - April 19, 2008 11:00 PM (GMT)
Vice City: Great protagonist, great music, great cars and great story.

I also liked GTA3, and RiseFM had some nice trance Heli. This game was easy to complete though, and that upset me.

doubleo sigint - April 20, 2008 01:29 AM (GMT)
Well this is a hard choice between VC and San Andreas. Vice City had Tommy, voiced by Ray Liotta what's better than that. Then there's the Scarface 80's Miami vibe. R* captured the lush environments of Miami perfectly and don't get me started on the music, what would have made it perfect if it had Easy Lover By Phil Colins as you blast through past the Malibu Club in a Cheetah (Ferrari). Thats were VCS wins it had Vic Vance and "Easy lover" and "Like To Get To Know You Well".

Then there's San Andreas and my home boy CJ it had Eazy E, Snoop Dog, Dre and CSR you gotta love CSR. It had the hood, it had the best features, you could get fat, muscly, lay girls in there apartments, pimp yo ride, change your clothes with a lot more detail. SA was also huge. The shooting was improved, you could rob houses. And I like the fact that R* had the balls to introduce a character of ethnic background to be the main star of the game while knowing there are many intolerant gamers out there.

In terms of gameplay and features SA takes it.

Graphics and Atmosphere VC takes it

As much as i love the 80's i guess SA takes the biscuit for my favorite GTA so far.

Heli, I'm shocked! and I'm proud of you lol.

Vice City for me.

I liked the story a lot, the missions and how the whole deal unveiled until the end.

Just great! Now waiting for the next one...

sadistic_greyfox - April 20, 2008 02:05 AM (GMT)
GTA VC for the overall feel, Makes me wish to have grown up in the 80's era XD. I loved SA though, I still play it sometimes with my sis just cause of all the insane things you can do in it. I loved the Reggae, Rap, and sometimes rock songs in SA. VC still is a bit on top for me because it was my first GTA game.

Vice City by a million miles. Just so much hype, and the fact it lived up and exceeded the hype around it is amazing. Plus it's the only game since MGS1 that fully immersed me into it's world, that just made me realistically believe I was Tommy Vercetti.

Plus, you can't go wrong with Ray Liotta!
