Title: Which Final Fantasys Has Been Your Favorite?

WhySoSerious - April 20, 2008 03:39 AM (GMT)
I've been a fan of Final Fantasy since the very first one came out. I dont have just one fav. I love Final Fantasy 7,8,10,12. I'm ready for 13.

xAlwaysOpenMouthx - April 20, 2008 05:29 AM (GMT)
FFX-2 is definitely my favorite.
The story came around full circle.
In the others, I think there are too many holes in the story.
At least that's what I remember thinking. It's been years.

WhySoSerious - April 20, 2008 05:40 AM (GMT)
Final Fantasy X-2 just threw me for a loop it wasnt anything like I thought it was gonna be so didnt really like it but I think the worst Final Fantasy is 9 I didnt like it at all.

xAlwaysOpenMouthx - April 20, 2008 05:43 AM (GMT)
Yeah dude.
If I didn't have XIII and XII to fall back on when IX came out, FF would've just been ruined for me.

Tamashi_7 - April 20, 2008 06:00 AM (GMT)
I'd have to say Final Fantasy X - it was my first Final Fantasy, and as such, it meant the most. Everybody should remember playing their first Final Fantasy, it's always a great experience to see the greatness of the story unfold and the amazing worlds which are uncovered in the process. It doesn't matter which way you look at it.

But yeah, I just found the story of Final Fantasy X to be truly beautiful and vivid. A love story which shows great sacrifice and romance not like anything else - it actually had me appreciating a love story; which, at the time, was hard to do. Not to mention the whole world and atmosphere completely blew me away; the worlds in Final Fantasy are always amazing, but I just loved that of Final Fantasy X.

Overall, Final Fantasy X was a truly epic game for me to experience. I'm glad I went out and brought it.

After Final Fantasy X I'd have to say Final Fantasy VII. My reasons for this should be quite obvious, but whatever, I'll explain a little. Although going back to play with such dated graphics was annoying, the story in itself was magnificent; the character development in the game was tremendous, and I loved Cloud's sense of weakness - it is something not many people are willing to convey in main characters.

Loved FF XI. The opera scene and one of the most disturbing villain in FF universe just rocked this game hard.

You mean IX. XI is online.

With that said, my favorite is XI :D It was my second life and I still can't get it out of my mind, 3 years sober from it.

Second favorite would be VIII, I just connect with the characters so much. LOVED everybody in it and the ending was one of the best endings in any movie, book, or game imo.

Then FFX, not much to explain here. It was just simply beautiful. And the ending was sad. The type I like.

And Lastly, FFIX, the music here creates the best atmosphere in any FF game. Truly hard to put this as fourth cause it was so beautiful.

Ones I like the least...

X-2...I couldn't stand this game. Ruined X for me. So I like to just believe it didn't happen.

VII, while it was a decent game I find it to be way over hyped. Just not my cup of tea.

Final Fantasy IX is amazing, You'd probably appreciate it more if you liked the FF games Before 7. As for FFX-2, Its by far the worst FF game I've played, It went completely off track from FFX's Story Until the end which you have to do everything just to see it all. Final Fantasy XII was a huge disapointment to, The story was horribly overstreched by just walking through Lands & Temples, I only liked The Gudges & Balthier in FFXII.

lol after all that complaining i will say something positive, My favourites are Final Fantasy VII,VIII & IX, all on the PS1 & all fantastic in everyway. Final Fantasy X was the last game to impress me.I'm currently playing Final Fantasy II on my PSP, I'm loving it so far.

Hippysnake - April 20, 2008 12:49 PM (GMT)
Never played a Final Fantasy game in my life...

jonhou - April 20, 2008 01:02 PM (GMT)
Would have to say Final Fantasy X. It was my first Final Fantasy game. Final Fantasy X-2 was....well, I am glad the story came full circle and all, but the gameplay and kinda lame cutscenes were just too much.

I hear that Final Fantasy 7 is the best, so going to check that out when it has been remade for the PS3.

Mikey - April 20, 2008 01:13 PM (GMT)
Going to have to go with X, was the first one I played and it actually reduced me to tears at the end, I mean, it made you care about the characters, which is someting that games rarely do in my opinion. X-2 gave closure but it there were a few plot holes if I remember correctly, and the all girl annoyed me, no-one is going to convince me that Paine was some sort of Auron character. Is VII getting re-made, can't find the PS1 version anywhere.

Actually, I meant VI.

La Li Lu Le Lo - April 20, 2008 04:30 PM (GMT)
1. FF IX
2. FF Mystic Quest (SNES) My first FF game
3. FF VIII

These are my top three. I don't know why so many people disliked 9. I felt as if I was part of the game. A very memorable and immerse experience.

Never played a Final Fantasy game in my life...

How could you have not played any Final Fantasy game. There so much fun.

RossSP - April 20, 2008 05:22 PM (GMT)
The only one I've played seriously is XII, and I'm appaled at myself for not having discovered Final Fanatsy before now. :P

I've played VII a little and it seemed pretty awesome, but I've not played any others.

I like the FFXII combat system, so I'm looking forward to XIII, don't know how I'd cope with the old system.

Roy Campbell - April 20, 2008 06:53 PM (GMT)
Here is my top 10 FF games:

1. FFVII - Need I say why?
2. FFVIII - Squall is probably one of the most complex characters ever in a video game by a frigging mile. Many people disliked FFVIII becuase it's fighting system was different but I loved it.
3. FFIX - Again, I don't understand why people didn't like this as much, amazing game.
4. FFX - I'm glad they went back to turn based instead of the atm thing, this game had a very emotional story as well.
5. FFVI
6. FFIV - For me, one of the best storylines in a game ever.
7. FFX-2 - Not as bad as people say it is.
8. FFXII - A big let down but still a good game.
9. FFI
10. FFII

And that's probably the reason why I never even bothered to play FFXI.

solidfox - April 21, 2008 04:48 AM (GMT)
And what would be the reason?

That was easily my favorite Final Fantasy... FFX comes close as my most favorite but that was because of it's beutiful CG effects...

That it's an MMORPG.

solidfox - April 21, 2008 07:54 PM (GMT)
Understandable.

Personally I couldn't stand MMORPG's but since It was FF I decided to try the trial version. And loved it ever since. I can't stand any other MMORPG still though...things like WoW make me want to punch infants.

jonhou - April 21, 2008 08:22 PM (GMT)
I think that FFX is the best FF game so far. Just look at how good it looks http://youtube.com/watch?v=e6STz0SlgNk (may contain spoilers) and it's from 2000.

Timeaisis - April 21, 2008 11:03 PM (GMT)
FF7 (obvious, and most popular response) and FF9 (least obvious, and least popular response).

FF7 because it had all the redeeming qualities of a good game. FF9 because it was just so fun and awesome and intriguing. And its the best one.

King Snake - April 22, 2008 05:41 AM (GMT)
1. Final Fantasy X - The first FF and the best for me.

2. Final Fantasy VIII - The best FF for the PS1. Squall is my favourite FF character, I love his Gunblade.

3. Final Fantasy IV - The best FF for the SNES. It's a classic.

WhySoSerious - April 22, 2008 08:15 PM (GMT)
Yea FFX was awesome I wish that FFXIII would be turn based not like FFXII. I mean it was good but turn based is just better I think.

UrbanCombat - April 23, 2008 09:51 AM (GMT)
Nah real-time battles is far better. Turn based is tedious to level up, because you always walk into random battles you don't know are coming, and there is a slight loading time that gets annoying after a couple hours playing/leveling up.

WHiTeFaLCoN - April 23, 2008 06:36 PM (GMT)
Stuck between FF7 and FFX, can't decide!!!

I couldn't disagree with that anymore than I do ^_^ .

I am a turn based freak, thats why I was so glad when Lost Odyssey came out.

I love the randomness of battles and the leveling up. And yea I loved Lost Odyssey I'm glad they finally made a turn based game for the 360 I enjoyed it very much.

RossSP - April 23, 2008 08:25 PM (GMT)
The fact that they were turn based is probably the main reason I never played a FF game before XII. Being used to real-time battle sequences, it just seemed more like my kinda game. Sure, the maneouvres have charge times, but I can live with that. ^_^

Saying that, I might still get XIII if it's turn based. It looks plain awesome.

Boss_Snake - April 24, 2008 12:31 AM (GMT)
It's a tie between FFIV and FFVIII.

FFIV, V, VI, VII, VIII and IX could be considered not turn based though, becuase they have the ATB system where you have to wait for a bar to load before you get to do your move, so they are not far off FFXII's system.

My fav FF parts are 10 and 12.

Patriot1981 - April 25, 2008 12:34 AM (GMT)

357revolver - April 25, 2008 04:30 PM (GMT)
my personal favorites were
ffvii-the first one i ever played, i believe was the best
ffviii-squall was the man, like many said before me, i liked the fact that he was so complex an had that i dont care attitude at first then he completly turns it around
ffx-just an all around good game
my bottom 3 would be
ffix-it came off as to kidish to me
ffxii-it was ok but i wasnt a big fan of the whole battle system
ffx-2-just wasnt a fan of the 3 women

Register - April 26, 2008 10:51 AM (GMT)
FFVI. It's the only one that isn't pure crap and even then I couldn't finish it, despite the magnificent story and characters, due to the horrible gameplay.

Everything past that is just shit.

Meryl_silverburgh - April 27, 2008 08:46 PM (GMT)
final fantasy 7 was fricken awesome  and sephroth is the gold standard for villain every where!
