In Twin Snakes I'm going for my Big Boss ranking on Extreme. I tried once, I finished in 1:26:05, Zero kills, Zero Rations, Zero everything...
Except alerts.
It said I got 8.
The problem is, the only time in the game where I got alerts, was when you're running up the stairs in Comm. Tower B, which is unavoidable.
And when you're going down the cargo elevator before you fight Vulcan Raven, again unavoidable.
And in the elevator in Comm. Tower A with the stealth guys, AGAIN unavoidable!
I just don't get it.

Have you been saving because as far as I'm aware you can save as much as you want to get BB on MGS1?

Here's the requirements:

How many times you save doesn't matter, so save a lot. Also using the Stealth Suit and Bandana has no effect on the rank

Just go to the link OcelotSnake posted and we can answer any questions for you. These things seem to happen frequently where people claim they know they didn't do something yet the game says you did. It is usually with kills, and I know in a lot of cases you can kill guards without even knowing you did it. I have done it before. But getting 8 alerts sounds weird because you know when you set off the Alert. My only advice is now that you beat the game try again, (you have stealth now I assume.) If it happens again you will know something is wrong but I would say you just set it off and didn't realize.

You had to of had kills because of the boss's and any guards you shot in the jail cell with Meryl.

You also have a save limit of 80, but that should be plenty.
