Title: Altiar and Militia clothing
Draketopher - May 5, 2008 08:47 PM (GMT)
In a preview I just read, it sounded like that the Militia clothing you would be wearing in the beginning of the game and when you try to blend in with them will be replaced by Altiars costume. If this is true, I will be disappointed. I'd rather play as militia than Altiar.
MGS. - May 5, 2008 09:01 PM (GMT)
I believe you are talking about
that preview in
this topic.
Anyway... can someone explain to me what is the Altair's costume?
Helikaon - May 5, 2008 09:06 PM (GMT)
Altair is a character in Assassins Creed. For April Fool's Kojima Productions released the first true in game footage of MGS since E4A he swapped the militia costume for robes that look like Altair's.
I see no problem with it. It's just clothing.
g-fox - May 5, 2008 09:06 PM (GMT)
it was an april fools joke by kojima
Draketopher - May 5, 2008 09:09 PM (GMT)
yes but in that preview it says its usable, meaning you get it. The way it sounded to me, is that they swapped them out. And yes I understand it's just clothing but I'd much rather militia clothing. I want to play as snake. Not altiar.
Helikaon - May 5, 2008 09:13 PM (GMT)
You don't have to wear them.
MGS. - May 5, 2008 09:18 PM (GMT)
Thanks for clearing that out for me Heli.
Snake is going to wear the costume only for a little time in the Middle East section. It's not a problem for me. It's like the raincoat Snake wore in MGS2 during his fall from the George Washington bridge.

Firstly, that "preview" was bullshit.
Secondly, the clothing may make an appearance in the game considering they took the time to render it for the April Fools joke - but who knows, nothing has been confirmed either way yet.
Sotonian Rebel - May 5, 2008 09:22 PM (GMT)
possibly could be an unlockable item for completion of the game

Exactly. Says who? And why was the other thread locked. On what factual basis is the story "bullshit"?
metalgear141 - May 6, 2008 11:41 AM (GMT)
that trailer was a joke for april fools but apparently it is going to be an unlockable costume
OcelotSnake - May 6, 2008 12:50 PM (GMT)
The other thread was locked because it was an analysis (quickly turning into drivel) of
false information.
First off, the article is all supposition: it begins the article with "probable" new features and info >_>
Now if you don't believe me then let me elaborate further:

Well they’re already of to a great start with that all that Engrish.

Nobody who has seen the LOGAN introduction has been allowed to give details on it as it has been embargoed to hell. Also note the use of “probable” in the second sentence; once again, all supposition.

Global Warming is not going to be one of the pillar themes of MGS4. The central focus of MGS4 is the effects of war so why would Kojima choose to divert attention from that with an additional theme that is inherently irrelevant.

Well short of another cyberization I don’t see how they can bring back any of the other villains from MGS1 other than Liquid and Ocelot considering they’re all dead (even Houseman who committed suicide post MGS1).

The Altair costume was an April Fools joke. They aren’t going to have the canon version being Snake literally sporting cloak and dagger (notice the sheath on the back). The Altair costume will probably be an unlockable but you aren’t going to play chunks of the game in it.

This, possible the most damning thing, is 100% grade A bullshit. The Patriots are not the Knights Templar – this isn’t the De Vinci Code or Assassins Creed.
The site isn’t credible and the source material isn’t credible thus it got locked.
Vapour_Snake - May 6, 2008 12:52 PM (GMT)
ye i agree that it will be an unlockable on completion of the game kinda like the tuxedo im MGS3

Actually, that scan is referring to the Illuminati being descendants of the Knights Templar, not the Patriots. The sentence following is just a description of the Illuminati.
As for Snake wearing Altair's clothing - I only see the costume as an unlockable. With no source material other than my own opinion to base that off of, I think Snake would look a little suspicious carrying around a dagger on his back.
iAn - May 6, 2008 03:30 PM (GMT)
"Who brings a dagger to a knife fight?"
"Fuckin' Snake does."
Heh.

Regardless of how you interpret it, it's the same anyway. So instead of being the Knights Templar they are it's futuristic descendants? They've run with the fact that Snake is wearing the Altair's outfit in the April Fools tease and decided to merge the baddies in Assassins (Abstergo Industries) with the Patriots in MGS4. Just plain silly really.

Sorry, was just correcting a mistake I saw. In any case, the Patriots can be looked at as a spiritual parallel to the Illuminati, being that they both hold views of world domination.

Just an idea....it might be Decoy Octopuss, though I doubt it somehow.
Or maybe Raven... not in human form but in spirit form or something, we've seen our share of ravens in one of the trailers, one even shitting on snake ;)
Just an idea... wouldn't be that far fetched, much better than having a body with 10 million volts or farting out bullet bees.
Oh...and I'm just wondering, some of you say we start with altairs robe as militia disguise, others say that you unlock it. Which statement is true?? Would rather want to unlock... Snake running around in Altair's robe as being the canon disguise he uses in the game would just seem stupid to me.

Decoy Octopus died from FoxDie during the Shadow Moses incident. When he died Vulcan Raven carried him out of the room and I doubt it was fake.
Raven is a good idea but when we see ravens it doesn't mean that we are going to see him too. It's in the Middle East. This place is supposed to be full with ravens.
Probably we originally start with the militia coat and the Altair's costume maybe is unlockable. Kojima wants to give life to his own ideas and creations, it wouldn't make sense if he used a clothing from another game.
