Title: Dogtags Most Likely Back
Midna - May 6, 2008 01:15 AM (GMT)
I'm not certain if this has been confirmed or anything, but I am almost 100 percent sure that soldier dogtags will be returning, after all, these are soldiers we're fighting against--not guards. Also, konami already went through the trouble of making the animations for snake searching for dogtags and doing the FREEZE animation, I think its obvious that there will be a dogtag system returning.

I know I will probably get killed for this by my own leader board mates but I didn't like the dog tags. I found it annoying trying to get them all and just wanted to play the game. I did however only actually beat the game 2 times. :ph43r: I can't believe I just said that, ich is going to kill me.

yeah, I never did collect them, but I thought about the same thing. Why would they put the dogtag animations in this one without being able to collect them? Maybe they will have better use than just getting some stealth and things like that.
That reminds me... I wonder if they are putting the stealth camo in this one and if there will be cool easter egg camos.
Not to digress, but yeah, dogtags should be used like in drebin points or something, not easter eggs.
maybe the more dog tags you get, the more unlockable missions you get? like some shadow moses missions?

I hope dogtags are in MGS4, It made MGS2 have huge replay value i was just upset you don't get anything for getting every dog tag on all the difficulties.

As we are in the middle of the battlefield and we are fighting against real soldiers I believe there are going to be Dog Tags. After all this was a nice system of getting bonus/extra items if you gathered many enough. I didn't like that much the Kerotan Frogs, I prefer the Dog Tags.
Imagine yourself in a battlefield shooting down little greeny frogies.

i liked the dog tags but i never managed to collect them all, i hope they are returning to mgs4

I just found it cool finding all the different names and stuff lol. even the bosses had some.

Yeah, dogtags should come back into MGS4. They were so great to collect and a lot of fun as well.

The dogtogs were a great incentive for me to replay on the higher modes (I suffer from being a completist) so I'd be extremely happy to see them return. Considering they're in MGO I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the single player as well.

I liked collecting all the dogtags in MGS2, after i finished the game so many times it was fun to try and do something different. Its annoying though how on tanker you have to exercise your grip level before getting those tags in the Holds....
Anyway, if there is a Dogtag system in MGS 4, it would be cool if they served as some sort of respect ranking, where if you have enough dogtags from a certain faction the opposing one would trust you more because you killed their enemy's soldiers and provide you with more support and equipment. But that would mean that the game would force you to go on a killing spree and not be stealthy.

i didnt mind the dog tags, after all soliders do have them. i just think it would be even better to wear them, i mean i see it this way. in mgs2, when you have the B.D.U on, other soldiers stop you for the wrong weapon, etc. but wouldnt it be even more challenging, if you needed a soldiers tags too?

that doesn't mean you can't take out soldiers stealthily without going Rambo on there ass'
you can just slit there throats with the knife before anyone finds you or something

most dog tags i ever collected were 4
WhySoSerious - May 6, 2008 08:03 PM (GMT)
Well in the MGO beta you can in Sneaking Mode so I'm pretty sure we will get to in MGS4. I never got them all but its still fun to get them.
xAlwaysOpenMouthx - May 6, 2008 08:30 PM (GMT)
It's so cumbersome trying to get them all. Especially in Twin Snakes 'cause you don't even get a bonus for it. But I hope in MGS4 you can actually make the soldiers/guards wet themselves.
xIrontallicax - May 7, 2008 10:31 AM (GMT)
I was just about to say that, they are in MGO in the sneaking mission, so I wouldn't be shocked to see them make a return. It really did add a big reason to replay through mgs2 again, I never managed to get them all though

I'm like a few other people here...never really bothered to find every dog tag in the game. With that said, it's nice to hear that its returning. It has become a part of MGS lore, and as such deserves its place in this game.
