Title: Why did Solidus save Solid and Liquid?

tkato - May 10, 2008 09:27 PM (GMT)
I Mean in MGS1 near the end the facility was supposed to be brought down via nuclear weapons, then suddenly the SOD shows up and tells you things like it was all a big cover up to kill Big Boss's children but then suddenly Campbell with the help of the president, Solidus Snake, managed to stop the airplanes carrying the nukes.
Why the hell did Solidus try to save Liquid and Solid? it only came back to bite him in the arse in the end but what the hell was his motive for doing so?

Yes they do, only with the lead up to MGS4 happening, people are mainly focused on that so they take the glance at the MGS1 section when people actually post things there.

You have to remember, Ocelot was still in there, and one of Ocelot's goals was to retrieve the REX data and give it to Solidus. If the nukes were to hit not only would Liquid & Snake be dead, but Ocelot would be too, and there would be no MGS2 - MGS4.

Maybe I'm wrong about this.

I think it was the Patriots. Because if you actually read In The Darkness With Shadow Moses,

[spoiler]Nastasha says something about Ames calling the Secretary of Defense, having him arrested, then calling off the airstrike. Correct me if I'm wrong, I might be, its been a while since I read it.[spoiler]

Wait, was that Solidus?

I thought it might have been him, but my brain automatically denied it xD

Solidus (George Sears) was president at the time of the Shadow Moses incident. When Campbell called off the airstrike and simply there was no need of one then Solidus couldn't do a think but to call it off. You don't simply blow your cover and give reasons around to suspect you the time you are the president and have so many 'dirty' secrets to hide.
After The Pentagon, The Patriots or whoever was informed they ordered the president to call off the airstrike. So there wasn't much to do from his side.

maybe he felt that there was sort of family tie with them being brotheirs and hope they would join him one day!
