I found this on the Internet and copied it.Instead of playing Gabe Logan and his similarly well-trained cohorts (the motivating force behind the first three games), Omega Strain revolves around a custom character who begins the game fairly low in the ranks. Right off the bat, quite a few options are available to make your operative stand out from the crowd, and many more open up as the game progresses. Gender, body style, hair, and skin color can be tweaked, but more fun are the awards and small touches that appear later.
With a story that spans the globe, the mission arc is comprised of 14 primary missions and four bonus interludes. The latter are offline only, while the rest can be played online as well. Most missions are fairly large, packed with solo and team objectives, hidden goals, and plenty of firepower. The mission designs encourage varying approaches and online tacticians have plenty of room to play.
Speed is emphasized, with established par times for every level; completing all tasks under the wire is tough work. In most areas, at least a handful of reconnaissance run-throughs will fly by before you're able to come close to the par time. Some levels will require far beyond a few passes, which is frustrating.
The rewards for success are great, and speed isn't the only winning tactic. In fact, Syphon Filter has several reward categories, like basic rank increases, medals and commendations, and skill badges that reward your play style. Perform stealth kills with a knife, and your blade rating rises. Do the same with a stun jack to earn points toward a non-lethal technique badge. And obviously, the committee in charge of the sharpshooter merit badge loves headshots.
Every success is rewarded with a new piece of very useful hardware. Roughly 100 weapons await eager hands, but they'll only become available through dedicated effort. Non-lethal side arms pop up (the very powerful taser is always fun) and there are bonuses to armor and target locking as well. Those are rewards worth playing for (many solo par times are impossible without more powerful weapons), and they really change the landscape of the game.
A better way to alter the gaming landscape, though, is to go online. While solo play is fun, there's actually much more room for stealth and interesting tactics as a group. The AI substitutes high vigilance and aggression for actual intelligence, making a solo stealth approach almost impossible.
