What do you say?

Now lets see here. I like the general idea here of how you have incorporated forums but overall it just isn't my cup of tea.

This is what I do not like about it:

The image on the left. Is that just a picture of snake pasted onto it then inverted? I definitely do not like that. It looks very odd and doesn't bode well with the rest of the image. To be honest it would probably look better normal without it glowing. I mean look at his bandana at the front. That's not right!
The background is just a mere black. There is nothing to it at all. Maybe you could have added some kind of technical computer based or a codec layout or well anything that is themed to MGS because at the moment it looks rather plain and boring compared to the one used now.
The image on the right containing the text 'Metal Gear Forums'. Well, I must say I like the idea you have put together and I think it's quite creative to do that but it looks wrong. The edges are a bit to sharp and need to be smoother and less jaggedy. The name of the forums is MGSforums and not MGforums so that is actually kind of wrong.
The size of the banner is too small if you wish it to go at the top. It would look simply odd and wrong.

The banner that currently is being used is excellent and I don't think that qualifies to replace it as of yet. Maybe if you improved on it then it could stand a chance.

Yeah, it's pretty good, but it's nothing special. At least you didn't make the mistake of having a zillion things going on. If it wasn't so generic it'd be awesome. :)

The reason I call it the Metal Gear Forum is because on these forums, I believe we are discussing more than just the SOLID line of the Metal Gear Series, therefore I find it appropriate to call this the Metal Gear Forums. The reason the edges are so jagged is due to the fact that I have not yet been able to find a good image of the original Metal Gear logo. I also have difficulty keeping the ones I find as smooth-edged as they began as. I am not well-equipped with graphics programs, so this is generally the best I can do for now. Thanks for the feedback anyway.

It isn't bad, but the current banner I think just rules. Maybe if you keep working on it. What graphics program are you using?

Yeah, that is alot smoother. Maybe you could have it saying 'Metal Gear Solid Forums' by just moving the solid to the left and adding forums. Methinks it will be looking quite good. Also spice up the background for it. Maybe add some type of digital art?? Check out my tutorials topic if you want to find some effects.

I'd try and make one, but having a 98 limits your accesability to the trial ver of PS

Idea's are good, but yes no need to change at the moment.

the anything i would change on the logo is the writing, but that is all i would change because i think the logo is great and if u make a new for the site, they might not match the cool buttons that jc made for solidus :D

JC what program do you use for your graphics work? Just out of curiosity. It looks like photoshop am I right?

For some reason I don't think that will look very good. I don't know why, just a gut feeling I suppose.

Look at the motion of the colours, (I spell colour like this because I am from UK, so hush) the text almost blends in with the rest of the image. When you have adjusted it by adding a stroke the text looks odd, almost not compatible with the rest of the image. The original stroke on the text basically blends better and so I would say it is fine. Also the extra pixel line on the border is not necessary. It almost looks a bit bulky. Good attempt but in my opinion I am in preference of the original.

It seems like all you did was pad the border and border the text. I'm gonna have to vote to keep the one we have.
