Title: what was with those videos?
Yackemflaber - July 7, 2005 05:21 PM (GMT)
What was with the unlockable videos?
It showed unlimited ammo, and a scene of snake and meryl back to back fighting some opponent. Is this some alternate version of MGS that I never heard of? Why is it so different in the video than the actual game?
PeNguIn Of DoOm - July 8, 2005 02:19 AM (GMT)
videos? what videos?
Yackemflaber - July 8, 2005 03:01 AM (GMT)
When you get a certain percentage in the game you unlock 3 videos. Pretty cool ones too.
PeNguIn Of DoOm - July 8, 2005 03:40 AM (GMT)
oh. Never seen them, but i think u get 'em just because. Some extra, nonsensical video that is just cool. Don't think about it too much ^_^

Some of those videos were from E3 1997, about a year before MGS was actually released. In essence, those were simply concept videos. They instituted a limit on the number of C4s that could be used at once, the type of lifebar, the basic storyline, some of Snake's fighting moves, and sound effects between that version and the one that was released in 1998.
The videos are accessble from the "Special" menu, solid.snake.

Thanks, that clears that up :)

A bit off topic, but I have a 32MB graphics card, got MGS,(for the PC) and when I start the game it says some BS message that says,"MGS will run in software mode. Your card is not good enough." And I KNOW that it shouldn't do that, because on Intel.com (manufacturer of my graphics card) it says that MGS should run the right way, and there might be a patch on the website. Well, there, sure as hell ain't one on the PC site. Any ideas?

If anyone has the DVD version (free DVD, with documentary, trailers, ect.) of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty, then look at the E3 trailers. The scenes the OP described are Snake and Meryl, back to back, shooting (not AT anything, just shooting) in the Psycho Mantis room, and Snake with 9999 ammo on everything, including him filling Shadow Moses exterior with C4, blowing up a heckalotta Genomes.

Also, HQ renders (like Solid on the opening to VR/Special Missions, the blue, topless Snake) of Ocelot and Ninja are glimpsed.
