Title: Brand Spankin New Sig Guidelines
the_cobbinator - July 18, 2005 03:24 AM (GMT)
Yep, they're here, as well as our two new signature staff: Mike and glarbinator.
As of now, your sig must be less than 100k in size. While we have lifted the size restriction, please try and be reasonable. Stupidity will not be tolerated. Period.
Snake. - July 18, 2005 10:45 AM (GMT)
100k ohk hmmm ok thats better i know how to make my files smaller so its all good.
Kuwabara - July 18, 2005 11:51 AM (GMT)
But... but.... I've deleted that other sig I had now :(
*Cries in the corner*
Scarface - July 18, 2005 12:43 PM (GMT)

the_cobbinator - July 19, 2005 01:20 AM (GMT)
Completely pointless.
Warned.
Snake. - July 19, 2005 10:46 AM (GMT)
Does it have to be spot on 100 cos i wanna put on a sig which is 150 but not very big.... you guys are tough.
glarbinator - July 19, 2005 07:12 PM (GMT)

Scarface - July 19, 2005 08:37 PM (GMT)

Pshh. Having a different browser or operating system in no way affects how fast or slow a page loads. Only internet connection is responsible for that, and we are trying to be 56k friendly.
Snake. - July 20, 2005 10:44 AM (GMT)
im on 56k and i go on sites where people have huge sigs they load normally for me but whatever.
utra snake - July 20, 2005 04:57 PM (GMT)
finely thank god i can use my sigs again
:lmao:

Ya, I've been gone almost a week, then this happens, I don't have a chance to respond, then someone, ever so kindly, decides to get rid of my sig, and then has the gall to give me a warning.
Throw me a fu**ing bone here people. I had no idea. I hadn't been here in a week.
Acid Dye - July 20, 2005 09:11 PM (GMT)
I am not getting a Pm everytime my sig is 1kb over the limit and a bleeding warning
Otacon - July 20, 2005 09:35 PM (GMT)
Well, You are... Unless I or another admin, mod, sig police see's it as above.
Refluxe - July 20, 2005 10:16 PM (GMT)
@Raidens only fan, well maybe if your sig was within the limits before you inconveniently left here then you wouldn't have been warned would you? Regardless, it is one warning. Just don't do it again and you'll have no more problems.
Really people, it is not that hard to keep your sig within the limits. Just check the dimensions and filesize before hand.
Luca Brasi - July 20, 2005 10:32 PM (GMT)
Sorry, I know my sig is to large. I'm fixing it right now.
Edit: Fixed. My sig is now within the size limits.
Mega Man - July 20, 2005 11:11 PM (GMT)
Why was my signature removed it is 100K. My signature was 80K and it got removed because of the lenght and width.
glarbinator - July 21, 2005 02:03 AM (GMT)
I'm not sure what Mike is doing.
I thought the file size limitations *replaced* the pixel size limit... that was the whole point of why I thought this up. 0_o
I've only removed sigs for file size...
But outrageously big signatures still aren't aloud...
| QUOTE (the_cobbinator) |
| Alright, I've been thinking about this, and if we do have a 'sig staff,' they'll need to do several things. One, they'll check to make sure that only organization members have two images (at most) in their sig. Two, they'll check filesize of every sig. Three, they will also use their judgement if a sig seems outrageously big. We don't want banners, just signatures. And lastly, you'll have to know your way around the Mod CP. I think it'd be easier if you could just do it immediately. |
Aftermath - July 21, 2005 11:30 AM (GMT)
I guess we'll have to respect the signature guidelines after all. How's my signature doin' anyway? I hope there is nothing wrong with it. :P
Iron Snake - July 21, 2005 04:55 PM (GMT)
Allright now i can make a kick ass big sig while im still following the rules :)
Acid Dye - July 21, 2005 05:23 PM (GMT)
This sig staffs a bad idea.
the_cobbinator - July 21, 2005 06:14 PM (GMT)
Alright, just to clear up some confusion. There is both a pixel limit and a filesize limit. However, the pixel limit is now 500 x 150. No wider than 500 pixels and no taller than 150 pixels. If your sig is dimensionally smaller than that but is over 100kb in size, your sig will be removed and vice-versa.
Aftermath - July 21, 2005 06:52 PM (GMT)
That's great. You might want to update
this thread as well. ;)
gray-fox - July 22, 2005 10:31 AM (GMT)
Boo ya! 500x150 100k!! Thank you MGSF!

Well I know my sig was nowhere near as big as yours is. So how are you getting to have a sig that big and I can't have a smaller one?
Inconveniently left? Who was it inconvenient for?

It was inconvenient for yourself because someone clocked onto your sig being against the rules. They've changed now anyway so you can wear it all you will. However, at the time you were breaking the rules and were rightfully warned.
786Beast - August 4, 2005 07:45 PM (GMT)
hmm i'm not very fond of this new sig limit, i can understand why it has been put in place as cobb explained earlier but what you have to realise is in some cases for an game like ff and mgs there are quite a few sites, chosing which site you want to be a part of can be hell unless the overall quality looks good (referring to my case with an ff site, i joined and am a good member of it, just because it looks quality). How can a site look good? with superb sigs which members take time to make.
But this is just my opinion, which may, or may not be taken into account, i understand the site should be 56k friendly but i also know this can put off many current members, or undecided future members.
Mike - August 5, 2005 01:18 PM (GMT)
as many members have shown, and I applaude them for it, is that it is quite possible to make fantastic-looking sigs that remain within the limits.
786Beast - August 5, 2005 03:35 PM (GMT)
yes some brill graphics dudes can but ppl like me who ain't got a clue about reducing the size are stuck, i used to have a brill mgs3 sig, i've used on 5 forums it's like a trademark, unfortunately i'm unable to display this trademark on one of my favourite forums.
Mike - August 5, 2005 04:25 PM (GMT)
I'm sure some of the graphics experts who frequent the forums may post some guides to reducing sig sizes in the digital art section, if someone asks them nicely ^_^
786Beast - August 6, 2005 11:10 PM (GMT)
been there done that mate, but it is impossible to reduce the size of my movie clips, with bb on them
Mike - August 7, 2005 05:15 PM (GMT)
then just have a different signature. You've been making a lot of artwork in the MGC, I'm sure you can come up with an awesome signature.
