How do I add borders? I need to know, I have a feeling it'll make my signatures more eye-catching.

Ok first. Make a new layer and make sure it's at the top of the layer window.
Then press Ctrl + A.

Then go Edit > Stroke, 1px black on the inside. That just a 1px basic border.

Or:

Make a new layer and make sure it's at the top of the layer window.
Then press Ctrl + A.

Then go Edit > Stroke, 3px black on the inside.
Then 2px white
And finally 1px black.
Then set the blending mode of that layer to either Soft Light or Overlay.
