Uhh...What?
Im gonna take a crack at this...In the original version of Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, on the Japanese system MSX2, the radio avatar of Big Boss, was based on the likeness of Sean Connery...However in the newly released version, seen on Mobile phones, and assumingly Subsistence, the radio avatars have been drawn by Shinkawa, to more closely resemble the new character models...(Sadly, as Id rather have the original avatars...I always thought it was cool...)

@GrayFox
The picture of Sean Connery was used for an unofficial translated us version of MG2:Solid Snake. Some fans just made the translation and choose those pics. Konami never was involved in the translation. Also there are many translation mistakes included too.

Uh, Im completely aware that the translated versions were translated by fans, and included mistakes, but the Japanese version DID use the movie star pictures, including Sean Connery...

I didn't like the original avatars for Snake and Gray Fox, because Snake looks alot like Mel Gibson(I know he is modeled after someone else) and Fox looks African, he is supposed to be fricken German-Vietnamese! I guess that's why they had Greg Eagles voice him in the Original Metal Gear, but the Original Avatar of Big Boss was fine, The avatar for Pettrovich is like Albert Einstien. And yes the new avatars will be feartured in the Subsistence version of the game

Hey, I understand what you mean...I can admit that the faces dont exactly look right, but thats not really the point...The point is, its how it was in the original games, and Id rather the American release be exactly like the originals...But hey, its all good...If I wanna look at Sean 'Big Boss' Connery, and Sholid Shnake, I can always load up my MSX Emulator...
Another reason I really think the Sean Connery Big Boss is cool, is because Connery is the original James Bond, and in Snake Eater, the storyline was about Big Boss, and had alot of 007 inspiration...it just worked out so well...
Well, actually the guy who suplied the face for Fox, IS Vietnamese...I dont remember his name, but he was in Predator...

Yea, and though many would disagree, I very much prefer Greg Eagles as Gray Fox...It sound much more Cyborg Ninja'ish, and just plain cooler...His voice in TTS, like everything else in TTS, sucked IMO...He sound more like a winded old man to me...I didnt like it at all...

I thought both voices for Fox were cool. But I did like the original voice better.

I agree also, that Snake does look a lot like Mel Gibson, and I didn't know that BOSS, was modelled after Sean Connery, thats news to me.
I just thought it was an un-canny resemblance.

Actually, I lot of people are gonna disagree with me here, but Big Boss did look a little bit like sean in 1962. I mean from the side he did. He has those same sort of...lines down his cheeks as sean did. Give him a shave and short black hair and he would be a sort of lookalike to sean connery yet again. But he still looks different from the front, that's for sure. Solids model in mgs2 had it's own look really.
