Title: The Advertising Commission
Description: The next step in publicity

Liquidon Snake - August 11, 2004 08:46 PM (GMT)
For over a month, Solidus, JC87, and I have been discussing the possibility of an Advertising Commission. We have been wanting more members and the best way to get more is to have publicity functions. While discussing this with Solidus, I outlined for him the basic setup of the commission. The following is from our discussion about the commission, and it describes the method of functioning of the commission:
QUOTE (Liquidon Snake @ about [i)
Advertising Commission[/i]]Well, we start out by asking for volunteers for promotional graphics that we could use to advertise these forums. They should probably have a message on the graphics like "Join up on the", "Check out the", and/or "Take a look at the", and then have an MGSForums logo right by the message.

At the same time, we'll ask for people that can get some publicity space like a listing on some search engines, or website header/footer advertising. We must keep in mind that we don't want a pricetag on any of it, since I have a personal policy of not getting involved online on financial levels.

We'll also want a management staff, one that oversees all advertising functions so that a clear record may be kept of all advertising functions.

These three groups will form the Advertising Commission, creating a triangle of interdependence so that no hierarchy of position may take form. The only sense of better or worse will be based on a member's skill in their area. Even this will be kept under control, so as to prevent any disputes over superiority and inferiority.

We'll start by gathering volunteers.
For promotional graphics, we'll have an open application for positions. We'll test members' skills in graphics by allotting them to only specific imaging programs, image dimension limits, image file sizes, and criteria of components of the images.

GRAPHICS CRITERIA
-Dimensions
-No larger than 400 x 100 px
-No smaller than 300 x 40 px
-Capacity
-No greater than 2.2 MB
-Resolution no greater than 96 dpi
-Components
-Must have appropriate forum logo
-Must convey request to register/visit forums
-Recommendations
-Animations will increase quality
-Have equal resolutions w/ cut-and-paste
-Stable color variety (no red-green, blue-orange, purple-yellow)

Judging:
Advertises recruitment: __ / 25 -15 for no forum title -10 for no recruitment
No profanity/negativity: __ / 20 -10 for each violation
Within criteria specs: __ / 30 -5 for each broken rule
Copyrighting: __ / 25 -25 for stolen graphics
Animations will add 7 pts
Resolution equilibrium will add 6 pts
Color stability will add 5 pts
Total: ___ / 100

The 7 best graphics' artists will recieve positions on the promo graphics board.

ADVERTISING CRITERIA
For advertising, we will start asking for anyone who is willing to handle getting the forums listed on search engines. The 7 people that can provide us with the most advertising connections (in the proper places) will be appointed to the publicity board.

RECORDKEEPING CRITERIA
For recordkeeping, we'll request resumes from volunteers. Those that appear most qualified will be given positions on the recordkeeping board. The resumes should answer to the question, "Why do you feel that you would serve as an efficient recordkeeper in this forum's Advertising Commission Recordkeepers Board?". Based on the resumes, the 7 most qualified applicants will be appointed to the recordkeeping board.

In short, we want to begin recruiting for the Advertising Commission starting now.

Cobbinator, seeing as you have recently become a administrator and based on your experience in Forum Skins, I would like to have you be the first judge of Promotional Graphics.

Ummm I would like to sign up but im no good at graphics. I can deal with ANYTHING else execpt graphics if you need me to. I also have a lot of contacts around, including a printing company.

Thanks for your time lol.

Liquidon Snake - August 11, 2004 09:38 PM (GMT)
You think this Printing Company may be able to print ads for this place in a video game magazine or something?
If you think so, you might want to add that to the list of advertising assets. If you can provide us with enough public connections, then you might be one of the 7 people to be positioned on the publicity board.

Hmmm. it depends how many you needed. And by contacts i meant things like people in other countries even though there are people on here from other countries.

Solidus - August 12, 2004 03:14 PM (GMT)
Design some prints, get them, scan them, and send them to people over Europe on here by PM. lol. Maybe they can some how produce some more.

Otacon - August 12, 2004 04:52 PM (GMT)
Or make it easier and just send them to there house :)

Also this printer does tshirts hats mugs etc etc. Btw This printer is also owned by my uncle :)

Our best bet for advertising is probably on the web, as the web is world-wide. T-shirts and stuff would be nice, but I don't know how effective they would be.

Otacon - August 12, 2004 09:48 PM (GMT)
yeah i know that. sorry if i sound sarci

Solidus - August 16, 2004 09:47 PM (GMT)
But advertising means money. Right....

I don’t know specifically what I could help with, but I’m just letting you all know that I’m available for anything I can do. I no good with graphics, so I’d go ahead and rule that out.

Liquidon Snake - August 17, 2004 04:54 AM (GMT)
Solidus, when we get the separate forum on this site for the Commission, we'll be able to discuss this in greater detail. Please, do me this favor.

Liquidon Snake - August 27, 2004 02:52 PM (GMT)
Okay, this has been going WAAAAAAAAAAY too slow recently. I want as many people as possible to apply for positions in the Commission so we can get it in the air.
