Title: Orionx103 Signatures
Description: The new sigs I'm working on.

orionx103 - April 5, 2006 09:42 PM (GMT)
Right now, a lot of what I'm doing is based on a certain style. I could explain that style, but it would take a bit more time than I'm willing to put forth right now.

I'm currently working on a set of signatures for most of the major characters in Metal Gear Solid 3, specifically the Cobra Unit. I would upload the ones I spent hours working on at school, but my CD messed up while burning. The MGS3-related ones are prototypes, I guess.

I've been using graphic frames provided by Magitek Designs while I think of some new ones that I like.

They aren't bad,but the lettering is pretty bland, nevertheless
it's fine.

I'm trying to think of ways I can make things like the text better. I've been downloading fonts so I'm not using the norms.

If anyone's got ideas, I'm willing to hear 'em. Constructive criticism always welcome.

Well, the MGS fonts from Dafont.com are suitable,it's not
MGS but I really like the Final Fantasy font they have, also.
the new anthology font is pretty neat,
The gothic fonts generally are pretty cool.

EDIT:What programs are you using to make those?

Photoshops 7 and 8, depending on location.

hmmm. well if you're using the graphic frames then you should probably:

a. not use a render

b. create a background that will allow the render to blend with it

good-tutorials.com - check out some of the sig making tutorials, with blending techniques.

Art, at its lowest form, is imitation.

Here's where I got the inspiration for my signatures from.

These were created by Pange from Magitek Designs. She gave people free reign to use them, so I didn't see the harm in posting them here.

I kept the original .PSD versions so I could go back and edit them. I took off the renders to see how they looked. Honestly, I don't like the way the characters stand out against the backgrounds. Then again, it could just be that the pictures I used weren't very good. Anyway, here they are.

The background is the same for both images. I grayscaled it, then put it back into RGB mode and changed it with Hue/Saturation.

Those are pretty good. And JC87s advice is really good and very true.
Btw, awesome sig JC87. Font matches perfectly with layers.

this is what I like a lot. do you mind if I borrow it?

For the others... Im not a fan of live colors in sigs, so I cant say I like them :)

Go for your life. It's just a fabric pattern taken from some web site.

Likewise, dim dark colours are my favourite.

More prototypes and whatnot. No renders.

EDIT: More. Working on animated sigs, too. (That "Sizzurp" thing was a trial I decided to throw on here for fun.)
