I heard a rumor that they are going to make MPO2... any truth to this rumor?

It has only been said that there are no current plans for a second Portable Ops; however, it has not been denied that there will be.

I kinda hope they do create another... but then again, MGS4 ties up all the loose ends in the series - meaning there is little room for a second Portable Ops to cover.

Exactly. They've never actually confirmed an upcoming sequel to PO, but they have mentioned that we could expect another installment if PO would turn out a success. Hard to say if there is any truth to their words, with MGS4 coming out as Tamashi said.

That's kind of what I expected but it's kind of a downer! lol, I love Big Boss' tales. I wish they would go into more depth with them. Also, I could see how releasing MGS4 would turn heads away from MPO for a while.

I think Kojima said if it sells well then they will create another Portable Ops - which is most probably did.

Actually, there is a huge gap between 1971 (MPO) and 1995 (MG1) so there is lots they could do in terms of Big Boss' adventures. I was reading an article when MPO was first released that quotes someone (I think it was Payton) saying that should MPO be a success, which undoubtedly it was, then they would consider making three or four PSP MGS games. There is still hope for a sequel or two, but not until after MGS4.

I'm fully aware of that; I'm just saying that each game tried in tremendously to the rest of the series, and each game both answers and brings up questions. Also, like I said before, if MGS4 is 'tying up all the loose ends' in the series, then a second Portable Ops would be rather meaningless if we know the full story of why everything happens.

Nevertheless, that's not to say they couldn't just cover completely new ground, but that alone wouldn't be enough to carry an MGS title as there are expected to be large plot-twists in the narrative that effects the overall narrative of the series.

"Absolutely. If the response to MPO is as good as we're expecting, you can look forward to new chapters in the Big Boss legacy on PSP. We still have many stories to tell about the early years of Metal Gear Solid — I hope we can continue to do that on PSP"

Dont ask who was interviewed, I dont know :P

What about Big Boss and Eva? Big Boss and Ocelot? Big Boss and Gray Fox? How all that business got connected, Foxhound finally getting started, Les Enfente Terribe, Major Zero, if Sigint is really Donald Anderson, what happened to Para-Medic, etc.
