Not long ago I bought all the seasons on DVD and watched them all. I used to watch this a lot as a kid. And I must say that as much as I love the characters, fast cars, speed boats, candy colors, shoulder pads, sexy girls (I love you "Big Ass Trudy") and music, the writing in some episodes is absolutely horrible. Somewhere along the way around the episode with UFOs I saw sharks jumping all over the place. Even had to ready the oxygen tanks.

This is one of those shows that the passing of time has done a lot of favors if you haven't seen it for 20 years. But I probably should've let this show be in the nostalgia part of my brain. Sure it's nice to know how it ended and if they flushed Elvis down the toilet at some point but like I mentioned there are some god-awful episodes in there. Actually a few too many. I bet they named the "PAL key" in MGS after Sonny "Pal" Crockett.

EDIT: I absolutely loved The Lord of The Rings movies so I wanted to let people know there's a trailer out for the upcoming The Hobbit : An Unexpected Journey. I really liked the book and I'm getting so excited over this. It's good to see some of the old Rings cast return and I think Freeman looks absolutely perfect as young Bilbo. I actually thought he looks like a hobbit when I first watched The Office.

Del Toro has made some good movies but I'm so happy that Peter Jackson ended up directing these movies. This is one of those movies that I absolutely have to experience the first time from silver screen. Last one was Avatar.

@AntiSnake: yeah, I think that's a problem that every show has. I loved the episodes that were either of personal importance to the characters (and not just another job etc), as those usually had a heavier story. they should have made all episodes like that! there is one in the first season called "the hit list", which is absolutely brilliant. oh well, still a good show. (:

and The Hobbit trailer was awesome too. I was worried that it wouldn't feel like LOTR since the book is more of a "childrens tale" rather than a dark trilogy that the other books were, but I'm glad to say that doesn't seem to be a problem. really looking forward to this movie.
would be SO awesome if they could make some of the Silmarillion stories into movies (or why not Children of Hurin?). it's probably asking for too much, I know, but one can always hope!

Eventually Miami Vice got repetitive, and overly-cheesy.

You know I saw the first few episodes of that and it seemed to really have it's own sense of humor and thing going on. Can't remember why I didn't keep watching it, maybe I should return to it in the near future as I remember liking it.

I absolutely love it. Doesn't seem to be for everyone though, got a buddy who has pretty much the same taste as me when it comes to tv/movies, he doesn't really care for it. But yeah, it's pretty unique. Never seen another show with a talking moon as a recurring character.

Just saw Red State. I'm a big fan of Kevin Smith's movies and I think Chasing Amy, Clerks and Clerks 2 are all awesome films. As Cop Out was a bad movie I was sceptical about this one because I had a feeling Smith can't make a great film if it doesn't feature poop-jokes and/or Jay and Silent Bob. And so far I'm right. This movie was horrible. The script was afwul, the plot was terrible and the movie didn't know what it wanted to be. Smith usually has a knack for writing good and funny dialogue but the dialogue in this movie was beyond bad. John Goodman, Michael Parks, Melissa Leo... all talents are wasted here. I thought this movie to be mediocre at best but I wasn't expecting to see something this bad. For some reason I was expecting a horror movie and this wasn't it. Don't even know what the hell the genre was. I guess a thriller is closest. Didn't even last to half-way before making the From Dusk Till Dawn genre switch thing. Kevin, please make Clerks 3 or Chasing Amy 2 and stop trying out your boundaries.

saw Tipping the Velvet today (finally, I was recommended it a long time ago). it had a few flaws but overall it was good, I think. I should mention that I haven't read the books however (I know, I know).

the main theme is so off though. musically it's not that bad, but it doesn't fit the theme at all! : (

Been lying in bed sick for 5 days now and that means that's a good chance to watch some flicks and shows. Been watching the usual shows, The West Wing, Supernatural, Modern Family, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, My So-called Life, The Simpsons, The Walking Dead and so on. Managed to watch a couple of films too. Richard Linklater's TAPE which is still a great film, THE NEXT THREE DAYS which was OK but disappointing and TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES which is a guilty pleasure film of mine. Huge back-in-the-day Turtle fan over here.
Now I popped in some good old X-Files.

let's talk about the Lion King, since I saw it in 3D a while ago. I love this movie, probably the best Disney's ever made imo (and much of that is actually thanks to the awesome music that really isn't suitable for a kids movie, but it still works because Zimmer is just awesome like that) BUT there are a few things that seems a bit off. the biggest problem is, why do they need Simba? why do all of the lions just accept the tyranny of Scar simply because there's no other male lion around to be king? their system is (forgive the language) fucked up. why not just make Sarabi queen, fight the hyenas and have it over with? keep in mind that until Nala finds Simba, they all thought he was dead anyway, so "waiting for the right time" doesn't work as an argument either. Nala, by the way, why are you so boring when you were all cool and rebellious as a kid?
