Watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The original movie from 1990. I'm such a geezer, but I don't care.
I still love that movie. For a kids movie I love how dark it is in tone and on the screen. I used to do the Tequila/Ninjitsu dance routine with my cousin.

Watching Rocky I. Rocky Balboa is one of my all-time favourite movie heroes.

Saw THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN yesterday. Peter Parker was better and Emma Stone is adorable as always, but other than that, I don't think they should've rebooted this franchise just yet. It might as well have been Spider-Man 4 with new actor for Parker because this film didn't really have an identity of it's own. It's basically the same as the last three Spidey films. There was some little things I liked in the film, like the web thing in the sewers, I thought that was kind of cool. But Lizard wasn't a memorable foe at all and there was nothing here that makes it different from the dozens of superhero movies out there. Not nearly ambitious enough, which is a shame cause I think Spidey has potential of being an interesting character.

Just watched Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol

Have to say, not bad. Did have an air of Rocky IV about it, though. Paula Patton was a stunning sight to behold. Script was guilty of one or two clichés but then again, a lot of original stuff in there to make up for it. Not sure how much more can be milked from this franchise, however. 7/10.

I'm currently watching Crimson Tide. A relic of a movie but it's satisfying my post/cold war fix. I already have The hunt for Red October lined up once this is finished.

I saw CRIMSON TIDE a couple weeks back and I think it's one of Scott's above average films. Tarantino's add-ons (e.g. the Silver Surfer stuff) stand out like a sore thumb though. My favorite submarine movies are THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER and DAS BOOT, hands down.

Saw Woody Allen's newest TO ROME WITH LOVE in theaters. I think it's not among his best nor funniest by far, but it was a decent entry in the movies he's made in the 2000s. Somewhat similar to VICKY and PARIS and the fantasy stuff was very CAIRO but I liked the performances, especially Benigni's and Baldwin's. I've now seen 41 movies of his and his last truly great movie to me was HUSBANDS AND WIVES. MATCH POINT and DECONSTRUCTING HARRY are very good from the newer ones.

Haven't watched a movie in ages but last week watched Pulp Fiction again, still a classic. The avengers, finally got to see it, good movie, overrated though and The Expendables 1 which was pretty terrible.
Also started season 1 of Suits, pretty entertaining stuff.

Just finished watching Battle Royale 1 and 2. Read the book a while back, and I still think it's better than the Hunger Games. I've been watching a lot of Japanese action movies lately. Anything with Beat Kitano in it is pretty good to me. Watched 'Drop' which is meant to be like a live-action anime but the English dub in it is so ridiculous it makes it funny, even in serious moments, nonetheless, really entertaining. Watches Elevator Trap, which was a fun little mystery I guess.

"Beat" Takeshi. I love his films too. I've seen most of them and my favorites are VIOLENT COP, BROTHER, ZATOICHI, SONATINE and HANA-BI. I must say GETTING ANY? was pretty damn funny for a "sex comedy". I think his newer films such as AUTOREIJI and TAKESHIS' are watchable but not too great. I really like the simplistic visual style of his movies, the humor, the graphic violence and Hisaishi's music.

I thought COP OUT was terrible. I had high hopes for it since it was directed by Smith (sadly not written by him, which was the first blunder) and stars Tracy Morgan (who's damn funny in 30 ROCK) and Bruce Willis (well, he's Bruce Willis) but it was such a disappointment. The script was so terrible and the characters so unfunny. Throwing Star Wars jokes here and there didn't help this time at all. I hoped that would've been Smith's only fluke but RED STATE managed to be even worse. His next film - according to him - will be his last and I'm sort of relieved. He hasn't made great movies since CLERKS 2.

Rewatched a few films this past week.

JAWS was one of them that movie is just incredible. Even though it was Spielberg's first feature movie (that's non TVM) it shows the guy will be huge. The amount of cool shots and scenes he can do on a little boat was ingenious.

DISTRICT 9 I hadn't seen since it left the theaters and it's still great, but not as amazing as when I saw it the first time. There's some genuinely unique stuff in that movie.

ROCKY BALBOA I also watched the first time since it came out and I still think it's the third best film in the franchise.

HALLOWEEN - CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS. Oh my god. I'm glad there's only one more film for me to watch in this series and that's RESURRECTION. I don't think I could take any more of these shitty movies after that one.

EDIT: Just finished ALCATRAZ. Very disappointing. I didn't care about the characters at all and even though the premise had potential the execution was so typical and boring.

THE FOG - Hadn't seen this in almost 20 years and it's an OK horror film. I like the ending scene at the church. Nice music.

BLACK RAIN - Hadn't seen this before. If you didn't know it was directed by Scott, you would realise this as it's very BLADE RUNNERish with the Japan locales, the neon signs, the rain and noodles. Good little flick. Nicely shot.

TERMINATOR SALVATION - This was the second time I saw this and it's still a mess. Easily worst of the four. Bloodgood is very attractive though. CGI Arnie looks terrible.

BRÜNO - Not as good as BORAT but there were some very funny scenes the this film. My favorite parts were the ones on the hunting trip and in the army.
