Saw LIFE OF PI in 3-D yesterday. A very good movie. Touching, it had a superb performance by firstcomer Suraj Sharma, it was visually stunning and very loyal to Yann Martel's book. You really rooted for Richard Parker even though he was made with CGI. Highly recommended.

Tomorrow I'm going to see BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD with a buddy of mine.

Is it based on the novel of the same name?

I'm not a big fan of 3D and other gimmicks like that, but if there are movies where the 3D brings more to the movie, it's movies like LIFE OF PI. The 3D often strains my eyes when there's lots of sideways movement and lots of camera movement overall (e.g. THE AVENGERS) but here wasn't and it didn't strain my eyes at all. The movie's so beautifully shot and heavily visual that I recommend seeing it in 3D even though I think it'll work really well in 2D as well. If you have the extra cash and you've no problems watching movies in 3D, then watch this one in 3D.

I'm really sick of the 3D fad, we're not ready for the supposed 3D revolution yet.

I have just finished watching the remake of Total Recall and I have to say it was the most entertaining movie of 2012 for me.

Yeah it was surprisingly watchable. I haven't read the book but I think they took lot of stuff from that and didn't just remake the Verhoeven film. Here's a couple of films I watched this weekend.

HELLRAISER - It'd been over a decade since I last saw this and didn't like it much back then. Now after re-watching it kind of enjoyed it. It's got a nice darkness going on and I've always prefered practical effects over CGI. When it comes to 80s horror movies, there's always something enjoyable in even the bad ones. I thought I'd watch all the movies in the franchise but I think they'll just go downhill from the next one on. It was a real pain to watch all the HALLOWEEN, FRIDAY THE 13TH and NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET movies but I survived. I hope I'll survive the Hellraiser sequels as well. 3/5

V/H/S - Another found footage flick. Some of the segments are better than others and couple of them are really good ones. One mutual factor in pretty much all of them is bare tits. 3/5

SCREAM 4 - Saw it in the theaters, watched it now for the second time. My opinion didn't change. It's a decent slasher flick, inferior to 1 and 2 but better than 3. 3/5

I watched 'Batman Under the red hood' earlier. It's easily one of the best Batman flicks I've seen.

^ Under the Red Hood was my favourite until I saw Dark Knight Returns. Now it goes DKR (both parts) > Red Hood > Mask of the Phantasm > Year One. Love em all, but that's preference.

Watching Django Unchained right now. Hooray for screeners.

Started watching a really funny show called THE INCREASINGLY POOR DECISIONS OF TODD MARGARET. It's written by and stars David Cross (THE ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT) who's sent to London by a big shot at his office played by Will Arnett (also from ARRESTED) to sell this energy drink "Thunder Muscle" (that's pretty much toxic). The catch of the show is that Todd lies about something (including being from Leeds), then as he's about to get caught up with the lie, instead of telling the truth he comes up with more lies and it's very funny and the situations he gets into are awkward and hilarious.

If you enjoy shows like Larry David's CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM and THE OFFICE (the UK one, the great one) you'll probably enjoy this show as well.

Anyone here watching this show?

Here's a clip from an episode.

It's too over the top to take seriously. The violence is funny as hell. Super pressure blood packs ftw.

Over the top violence always adds a good bit of humor into a movie.

Bob's Burgers. Got the first two seasons. New episode of Archer tied in with it, completely forgot the show existed. Only watched 3 eps so far but it's a pretty good show.
