Rewatching Justice League: War. Pretty damn good. Like it a bit more than Flashpoint.

Casino, a very good picture and one of Scorsese's best!

Predators, not a bad movie at all. I am eternally great full that this and Promethues retconned the AVP movies out of the canon

Frozen, saw it in the cinemas today, a damn good animated movie with a great soundtrack and fantastic visuals. Go see it while it's still in cinemas.

Tomorrow I'll be watching Casablanca for the first time, I'll update this post (or make a new one) with my thoughts.

I don't know dude, I thought Predators was pretty terrible.

I watched The Lords of Salem for the second time last night. I saw it the night it released in theaters and didn't really know what to think. I've never felt this way about a movie. I sort of like it and dislike it at the same time. The very loose plot had me really confused the first time I saw it, but I've actually read the book and it makes more sense now. I love the atmosphere and cinematography and the whole concept, but there are a lot of things introduced in the plot that are not developed well, or forgotten completely, and some of Heidi's visions are kind of hokey. The black metal band also makes no sense to me, even after reading the book. They seem to have no connection whatsoever to what happens but they're featured prominently at a couple different points of both the movie and book.

I'd say if you're a diehard horror fan, check it out with a VERY open mind.

I think on Friday I'm going to go see Frozen with an ex that I've been talking to again. I'm apprehensive though, from what I've seen of the previews I really don't like the animation style. She says it's the best Disney has done since Toy Story, but I really doubt it. Up, Wall-E, Wreck It Ralph and Brave were all phenomenal and I don't think this one will really do it for me. I'll probably get a good fuck out of the trip, though.

Guilty pleasure I suppose.

Update: I watched Casablanca and I really enjoyed it, I've been meaning for a while to watch more Bogart films.

So jealous. To be in your position again...

Just watched "The Wolf of Wall Street" and an hour later I'm still processing it. A lot to take in.

Indeed.

@topic Started watching Hannibal (the tv show). It's pretty meh for now, interesting concept, kinda awkward execution.

The Prestige, once again. God damn it Nolan why did you ruin such a great movie with a bad ending. It felt such a cop out to get a happy ending when it could have been much more than that.

Just watched Escape Plan. I'm a huge Schwarzenegger fan, so that was the main reason I was interested. Unfortunately, I missed this movie in theaters, mainly because of its low box office numbers. I regret that now. As it turns out, this is more of a Stallone movie featuring Schwarzenegger, which is a little bit disappointing because it was advertised as an Arnie movie.

Anyway, these guys have managed to age gracefully IMO. They manage to come off as grizzled and experienced rather than hokey and played-out. The plot is nothing overly complex (guy makes a career by finding flaws in max security prisons and breaking out; ends up being conned into a job that he's not meant to really escape) - but action movies have never been too thoughtful. They follow the basic action formula of 20 or so minutes of set up, about an hour and a half of action, and about five minutes of tying up the loose ends. IMO this earns its place alongside anything in either of these guys' careers, and any true action fan would love it.

Since his return to acting, Arnold has had starring roles in this and The Last Stand, which is another movie I was impressed by. Both Escape Plan and TLS are better than anything he did in the late 90s, when he was still a big-ticket star. It's a shame that neither film did well at the box office, but I guess the market just isn't after this type of movie any more.

Do the times really make a difference with this movie? I was told the message still holds true today, I just didn't enjoy the film that much. I'm not saying it was bad, but I've heard so much about it over the past 15 years I guess I just expected more.

Adam Sandler is still the man.

The message is still there and is still relevant, but other than that eh it can come off as a bit outdated, as Strangelove put it:
Quote:

The hacker themes, the goofy fashion statements, and while I think it would make a good time capsule, it feels rather outdated

Definitely a good watch, back then or now, but it's not quite the same.

I honestly don't think I would've enjoyed it any more back then than I do now. It's just not my thing.

I'm hooked on The Sopranos now. This is my kind of show.

Kick Ass 2. Has a lot of ups and downs. Currently on a very high point. Mother Russia is totally worth the $50,000.
