Do the times really make a difference with this movie? I was told the message still holds true today, I just didn't enjoy the film that much. I'm not saying it was bad, but I've heard so much about it over the past 15 years I guess I just expected more.

Adam Sandler is still the man.
The 'message' in The Matrix is only really semi original. it's an idea that has existed in some form in different movies and works of fiction for years. It's not mind blowing, never understood why people thought that back in the day, it was a cool story, hardly intense stuff though. But at the time what was mind blowing were the effects. As shallow as that sounds, bigging up a movie for the CGI and what not but this genuinely was at the time unseen, jaw-dropping stuff. The term 'bullet time' comes from this movie. Since then we've moved on incredbily in terms of effects to seeing this nearly 15 years later will be fairly lack luster.

For me it has one of my favourite bits of dialogue ever just because of the way it sets up the tone of the movie.

Leiutenant: "I think they can handle one little girl. I sent two units." "
Agent Smith: "No Lieutenant, your men are already dead."

Then Trinity does her gravity-defying, camera-panning, kung-fu shizzle and the amazement begins. So I guess yeah time does make a difference with this film.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that The Matrix is a bad movie. I was just expecting more based on what I'd heard.

@ Aragorn, did you mean to say 2 hours and 29 minutes, or is there a nearly 4-hour version of the movie?

I believe the version I watched was about two and a half hours long.

There is a one hour 30 minutes version *really shitty, by the way.* then there is the 3 hours version, and then there is the 2 hours 19 minutes version shown in the US.
If you liked the movie, which you obviously do, really recommend the longest version you can find. Makes it that much better.

I've been watching the BBC's (i think) 24 piece self titled documentary on the Cold War. I've always been fascinated with it and this series literally covers it all and does it very well.

If anything it's good ambiance for MGSV.

You can find them all on youtube and stream it on your PS3... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62x16IKGmYQ

Did you read what I've been saying?

I don't think it's a bad movie, but I certainly don't want to go back and watch a three hour version of it. The two hours and nineteen minutes I watched was good enough for me. I can't imagine an extra half hour will really change my overall opinion of the movie.

But thanks anyways.

You never bothered to mention which movie you were talking about so I assumed you must've meant The Matrix.

I own the three hour and fifty minute version of Once Upon a Time in America on both blu-ray and DVD. I've never bothered to watch the cut version(s) of the movie because I've heard they were terrible.

I saw "Singin' In The Rain" today. I'm a guy who hates romantic comedies and musicals. That movie nailed it on every level, it was absolutely fantastic. Nothing sappy, nothing all too over-the-top. Just straight and no-nonsense. Definetely one of the best movies I've ever seen.

Natural Born Killers: a really good but bizare picture, it's a mind trip from start to finish. It has a good cast of Woody Harrelson, Julliete Lewis, Robert Downey Jr and Tommy Lee Jones and a really fucked up scene with Rodney Dangerfield. It was directed by Oliver Stone and was written by Quentin Tarantino, definitely check it out if you like either of their movies.

Casino: One of the best of Martin Scorsese's films, it's similar to Goodfellas and many ways including cast members Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci, they both do a great job as well as Sharon Stone. Definelty give this a watch

RoboCop (remake): I wasn't overly impressed with this one, its not bad but it certainly isn't great. I'm a huge fan of the original movie so maybe that's why I didn't like it so much. I never had high hopes to begin with but I was hoping it would surprise me and be a good movie, it didn't have a whole lot going for it. I'm still surprised that Gary Oldman was in this movie, I thought he would've learnt his lesson with remakes after Lost In Space.

Grimm (TV series): I've watched about 8 episodes of this show and it isn't bad. It had a pretty good cast and a good premise and plenty of fuel for future episodes. It's a nice modern twist on folklore and fairy tales. Reminds be a bit of The X-Files for some reason...

Sons Of Anarchy: I'm up to season 2 of this show and I'm really enjoying it, I'm hoping it doesn't turn into one of those shows that overstays its welcome though. Great actors and a great story, I recommend it!

Game Of Thrones: I watched seasons 1 and 2 and enjoyed them and bought season 3 today, at first I didn't see what all of the fuss was about but I'm liking it more and more with every passing episode.

Yep that was just fantastic. On the levels of pure comedy, as it had something for both kids and adults, and just as a story with a quite thoughtful and relevant message.

To be honest, at the moment a lot of it has been dragging on for some time. Some people should have died much sooner, some story angles were stretched too long and exhausted... that sort of thing.

But its still one of my favorites ever and I'll definitely be tuned in for the final season. Also, your approaching the best season yet, which is 3. That season is just tits man.

Watched Taxi Driver last night, very disappointed with it.

I've seen most of Martin Scorsese's movies now and the only one I like is TWOWS. I don't know what it is about his movies that puts me off.
