I watched My Bloody Valentine the other day, the 81 one, man that's a great slasher. Anyone got slasher suggestions? I've already seen Halloween and Friday 13th. |

Maybe check out the original Black Christmas, I enjoyed it but it has it's fair share of flaws. Apparentally it's the movie that gave John Carpenter inspiration to make Halloween. I recently watched seasons 1-8 of 24 (including the tv movie). I really enjoyed it and I love Kiefer Sutherland more than I did before, he's so fucking badass! This week I started watching Firefly because I has the DVD in my house for years but I always forgot I had it and never got around to watching it until this week. I'm 6 episodes in so far and I'm loving it. I feel myself developing a man crush on Nathan Fillion XD |

Arrow potential? Or even better? Which would be extremely easy to do if they dropped the 12 year old girl drama. Gotta hate the CW. |

Such an amazing movie. Ensemble cast, great writing, awesome set pieces and truly heartbreaking. One of my favorites. "Bangalores! Bangalores!" |

Yeah, gonna check it out. So, i didn't find a better place to put this... Three days, three Sam Waterston movies, here's what i got: Capricorn One, 1978 - Also starring good ole OJ Simpson and James Brolin, who looks like a 1970's mix of Crhistian Bale and Josh Brolin, due to the fact of being, you know, his dad. It's a great movie, good direction but the ending sucked balls, if not by that and a couple of plot and direction choices, this movie would be rated higher, especially along it's sci-fi peers such as Logan's Run. Mindwalk, 1990 - Also with Liv Ullman and a young John Heard. Also good, a movie that could very easily be made into a play as it is maintained only by dialogue in all 2 hours, and a few scenary changes, nothing that makes it any short of amazing. Being a 1990 movie it may sound a bit dated, but its perspective about economics and science is still valid, it finds resonance especially with green parties around the world, i believe. Killing Fields, 1984 - This one also stars John Malkovich and a Haing S. Ngor. Another great movie, the whole cast does very well, especially Haing, for which he very deservedly won an oscar. It's set in 1973 as the Khmer Rouger takes over Camboja and also deals with the american bombings that were kept secret, as result of Vietnam War overspilling. Tense and incredibly terryfing, also suffers from less than stellar choices for some scenes, notably the ending. Original soundtrack by Mike Oldfield. Edited by Tokyo Tapes, Jun 27 2014, 07:59:16 AM.

Spoiler: click to toggle Speaking of war movies, I watched Lone Survivor lastnight and it was pretty good. Mad kudos to Ben Foster. I liked him in Six Feet Under and he blew me away in this. The movie itself reminded me of Act of Valor, if anybody has seen that. Which isn't a bad thing at all. I would give it a 4.5 out of 5. |

First of all, fantastic cast, even small appearances like the actress in the bar scene *which i'll get to in a minute* or Stiglitz nail it down to a T. The dialogue, excellent. And the tension... That's really what makes the movie. It plays with your nerves, a perfect example of this being the opening scene and my personal favorite, the bar scene. It just keeps you on the edge of your seat. I also enjoyed the commentary about the power of cinema and how in war, there is a really grey moral zone where there is no real right or wrong. Of course its delivered in an over the top fashion, but its there nonetheless. Yep, super condensed version of what makes it the hypest shit. |
