should be doing something else right about now.
So today I started an extreme/Foxhound run on MGS3.So far I've done all the nessessary things (no kills, continues, alerts etc.) and then I get to the Pain. Now it took me about 4 attempts to stamina kill him but once I did I fewlt relief.
After I collected his camo I swam to the next corridor but as soon as I was about to surface Snake doesnt. The dam controller decides that at this moment exactly after I've defeated the pain and havent saved that snake shouldnt surface and drown to death :hmm:
I tried again with another 3rd party controller but this time I died when a grenade landed in the water and Snake didnt move (and the pain only had a quarter of him stamina left)

So what Im trying to say is dont buy third party controllers unless you really have to. The one I used to beat the Pain then die (at exactly the wrong moment) was a christmas present (the one we just had, thats right)

Oh mate that sucks big time. But really you should know not to get 3rd party controllers/accessories unless maybe a turbo controller.

And even for a turbo controller, there is an official PS1 one which works for PS2. But yeah I agree, third party accessories are usually not worth it.

You're not alone

since my PS1 days I've learned to never trust 3rd party accesories. there always seems to be a 1 second lag from when you press the button as well as them being a bit harder to press. They are also no was as durable as Sony's if they fall a few times they will fuck up forever. In the end the best thing is just save that extra $10 and but the real thing.

That's the way to go.

I never bought a third party controller, but I heard story's about it, so I don't. It's always better to get the original, except maybe Logitech? I heard those are pretty good.

But I had something like this though, not with a controller, but with a memorycard. I bought this 16 MB memorycard for the PS2 a long time ago. It was bigger then the PS2 8 MB one, and cheaper offcourse, so I thought: Why not?

After I took that memorycard to a friend, and brought it back to my house. It stopped working, the PS2 didn't scan that memorycard, he scanned the other PS2 one I had, but not the third party one. I lost a lot of files which were important to me: Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII. Dragon Quest VIII, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater etc

That sucked a lot, but yeah. I always buy the original anyhow now.

Nope, Logitech controllers suck just as bad as any other third party controllers.

I second the advice given here:

NEVER buy a third party controller for PS2/3. The Sony controllers are the only one's which actually last and telling by my exprerience, this is a FACT.

I've always prefered first party controllers as well. Main reason being they look better than third party controllers and are much more comfortable. Third party controllers are always considerably uncomfortable as they tend to be a lot bigger.

Yeah they always did seem bulkier than Sonys controllers.

My friend has had problems with third-party controllers, the directional buttons broke and as he shook the controller he could hear the piece bouncing about.. he swore to be a anti-Fony (see that? huh? see what I did? SONY - FONY? yeah? funny? yes? no... :( ) guy from there on.

Ah, 'tis a bummer to hear about things like this, but what can you do?

Just go and buy the real deal and be happy, with the knowledge that it will work endlessly. :)

The sony own I ordered on monday came today ^_^
Its new and only cost little under £12. I feel that this controller isnt as pressure sensitive as my now broken 3rd controller but I dont mind and its smaller too :P
