Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes

I remember going out and buying this game immediately on the day of it's release. I was so excited to see what they had done to the original that I actually ended up buying a GameCube just to see what The Twin Snakes was like. I noticed pretty early on whilst playing it that all of the main characters' dialogue had been rerecorded, which was quite observant of me I thought. I know the original inside out and had completed it probably over ten times before purchasing The Twin Snakes, so I knew exactly what to expect.

One thing I did like was the way they had extended certain cutscenes. I thought the stuff they added and improved was awesome, and definately got more people interested in the MGS saga. I haven't played any of the Metal Gear Solid games for a while now actually, but I was thinking of starting to play them again sometime soon. Shadow Moses was the base incident which made MGS players interested on where the series was gonna' go later on. And I feel too many people these days don't even know too much about the original MGS game, they only know Sons of Liberty or some just know Snake Eater which I think is so sad.

The first Metal Gear Solid was legendary and still is, it will remain a classic for the rest of time. I will always have nothing but love for MGS on PS1, and if it weren't for me buying that game back in the late nineties, I would probably never have known anything about what the series was to develop into here in 2007.

Apart from the fact they tried to make Snake Raiden, then yes, I agree.

They didn't. Raiden doesn't own the concept of agility.

Why is everyone so opposed to a game known for its cinematics, actually having a breathtaking cinematic end to boss battles? -_-

Of course he doesn't OWN agility. However, through out the series there has been a clear cut distinction between Solid Snake and Raiden. One prefers to use SAS-like tactics, is gritty and heavy hitting, with a preference for handguns and machine guns. The other prefers to get up close to his opponent with a sword and use his agility to over come them. I'm fairly sure that it doesn't take a genius to work out which is which. To further this, looking at their combos alone, Snake has a regular, heavy hitting punch punch kick. Raiden's punches are faster, and his kick is some kind of exaggerated round house, again showing the difference in the characters.

In game cinematics are fine. But they can be made breathtaking without having Snake do something completely out of character. When would anyone ever imagine Snake doing a cartwheel. I personally can only just get of the fact he does a slight sideways roll in MGS4.

What annoyed me is the fact the game tried to make Snake's character an almost Raiden like one, heightening his agility and not focusing as much on his manly grit (hardly dodged bullets, but wasn't shaken by them in the slightest, no matter how close they came). The original portrayal was fine in my books.

I completely agree. Snake is NOT NEO FROM THE MATRIX. He's SOLID SNAKE, and hes f*cking cooler than Neo.
There was no need for his 'Bullet time stunts'.

I cringed (and am cringing now when I think of it) when Liquid fires a missile at Snake from the HIND, only for Snake to use it as a stepping stone in mid air, and use it as leverage! AWFUL!

Also, the music in TTS was terrible. Not exciting, fun or MGS-like at all.

The original MGS1 soundtrack was the best. I would have understood if perhaps they had re-arranged music from MGS1, but they didn't. They just added dreadful generic themes to Boss Battles and Alert Phases.

I do like TTS game play though. I just think that other than game play and graphics, the game kind of sucked considering that it was a remake of an already brilliant game (so it should be easy to remake to a great standard right? Obviously not in this case -_- )
