I like the older gundam series. Wing was the best but I like the original series with Char and Amuro. The new series are ok but not as good as the original or the older spin offs.
YES.
The original and Zeta are the best by far.
Zeta was awesome. I think when gundam really let me down though was g-gundam which really wasn't gundam at all. I like seeing masses of zaku getting destroyed. I miss those days of the "Red comet"

Recently I watched anime series titled Seirei no Moribito (Guardian of sacred spirit) and it's quite a piece of animating, I must admit. Of course, it will never be like animes of Ghost in the shell or Miyazaki's masterpieces but it has right shaped drawing, convoluted but still well arranged storytelling and briliant depicting of series's mythology universe. On the other side, story and its finale needn't have been so touchy and disentanglement so open. Otherwise I can recommend it to you as a title for a long weekend afternoon.

Wow... I just looked that one up, and it seems really interesting. I'll have to check it out if it's ever released on DVD here in Australia, and it sounds like it will. ^_^

In any case, I've been having an urge to go back and rewatch either series: Texhnolyze or Paranoia Agent. Both are pretty dark, psychological anime... but that's what makes them so great. So yeah, I just hope I can find the time, because both really do deserve it.

And speaking of rewatching stuff - I recently took another look at some of the Miyazaki films (Nausicaa, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle). All still amazing. ^_^

Rewatched the Fullmetal Alchemist movie, as well... and whilst I still think it's great in its own right (concepts and such), it doesn't really fit in with the series too well. But as I said, it's still a nice movie.

Yeah, I saw Howl's Moving Castle again the other day... Turnip-Head still kicks ass, as usual. ^_^

I've decided that the anime of Death Note is shit, the manga is so much better. The art, the lighting, the dialogue- everything is better in the manga. L is not how I imagined at all in the anime.

I'm stuck at like, chapter 65 of the Death Note manga, haven't found the motivation to keep reading, but the first 45 chapters or so were fucking epic. Good stuff.
AGREED. The show does the manga no justice. The manga is a friggin page-turner. Oh and I'm not sure where ch. 65 is, but it does slow down once it centers around Near. BUT it does pick up near the end with some enticing "whats gonna happen" moments. So I'd recommend finishing it.

I preferred anime, except the ending TBH.

Of course, no matter how good the anime is manga is always better rule, but DN is enjoyable both ways.

Well, I saw the first 4 episodes of the anime which inspired me to read the Manga- which in the end seemed just so much better. I was gonna watch all the anime anyway, but L's voice was nothing like how I imagined... it put me off. Maybe I'll try again someday.

Ok Appleseed Ex Machina, One of the most Bad ass CG animes you'll ever see, the story isn't as deep as a ghost in the shell but there's enough in it to have you keep watching. If you guys didn't know the same guy who made GITS made Appleseed so if you like futuristic looking locals defo give this a watch. Man the gunplay in this was just so....god...Bad ass.

Miyazaki films are also some the best fucking movies I've seen. I love watching and re-watching them. Timeless i tell you.

V_D, this was the CG sequel to the 2005 CG anime, the new one only came out this year with the english dub, japan had it in 2007. I think your wither talking about the one that came out in 88 or the 2005 cg which neither have anything on the 2008 version.

@ god no I haven't seen it, what's the basic story line and genre of it?

Yes, that's a spring roll.

I can't place a name on the genre... adventure? A detective story?

The storyline is that there's this secret club for the ultra rich who can basically buy and carnal pleasure they want (there's a lot of sex/nudity in it, as well as heavy gore and swearing- first time I've heard the word 'cunt' in an anime). This guy called Syga who's an ex-war photographer stumbles upon it, and discovers a place where their 'goddess' (a captured 15 year old girl, can't recall the name) bestows powers on them- turning them into 'Euphorics' who's deepest desire is unlocked (usually the desire is sexual). Syga interrupts the process, and gains his innermost desire unlocked- the ability to kill people with his camera (it's been in his subconcious from his days in the war). Soon he and the girl are on the run, battling off other Euphorics in a mad chase across Japan...

So yeah, it's pretty full on. I only have 4 more episodes to go, I'm pumped.

Also, 2k.

It's funny to look back on my previous opinion of Texhnolyze in this thread... cause now it's just fuckin' awesome no matter how I look at it. There's not much doubt in me saying it's my second favourite anime.

But whatever... nobody cares about that. So... Ghost in the Shell 2.0, anyone?

I never really cared for Ghost in the Shell beyond acknowledging that it was visually great so I can not really discuss it or 2.0. Sorry. :X:

I did just finish an extremely funny series called Detroit Metal City.

Heres a review of the Plot that I lifted from Wiki:
Negishi Soichi leaves his family's farm in Oita Prefecture for the bright lights of Tokyo. While there he swaps his taste in Swedish pop for the totally out-of-character death metal and takes the role as vocalist in the trio, Detroit Metal City, adopting the name Johannes Krauser II. Through the story, he is placed in countless situations caused by his new alter ego, Krauser and at some point he develops a sort of schizophrenic relationship with Krauser, such as if his temper is pushed he will turn into Krauser, or if he is being pressured to make a decision or fans bother him too much he draws Krauser out to save himself. After the fact, he feels bad about what 'he' did and tends to lock himself in his apartment until he can overcome his regret.

Now this anime and manga comes with an extreme warning. It contains lots of profanity and adult situations. (No its not a Hentai but they do talk about sex in it and therefore some people might find it offensive.) Watch it at your own digression. I do not want someone coming in here after watching it and chewing me out that the show is vulgar. :ermm:

It was just recently made into a live action movie which is just in theaters right now in Japan and some theaters in North America (But mostly at film festivals it seems.) So if you like what you see in the anime try and check out the live action. :X:

Well Ghost in the shell 2 : inocence was quite good, tho i like the series better. I wish they would bring out a 3rd Gig of Ghost in the shell : Stand alone complex. Solid state society was OK but a third season would kick ass, tho after all this time i doubt it will be made :(

I'd say I enjoyed the Ghost in the Shell movies more than I did the Saga of Stand Alone Complex, simply because there was more meaning in the movies... for me, anyway. That said, the second half of 2nd GIG was breathtaking on a level I hardly expected — it was really something, to say the least.
