You're lying, I've been you

Actually, he does have a good voice. Was watching Batman the other day and he picked this guy up off the street and yelled at him in a different voice...was powerful and Deep.

But in the end, I've hoped for Karl Urban since I saw him in gear in Doom.

IMHO I don't think Christian Bale fits; neither does Hugh Jackman, or anyone else for that matter. Don't get me wrong; both Bale and Jackman are great actors and I'm a huge fan of their movies, but I just think it isn't right to turn MGS into a movie -- especially a live-action one. It won't work for a number of reasons. but here's one.

MGS is one of those games that delve into back-stories and large amounts of details and philosophical inclinations. To place all that in a live-action movie doesn't make it right. So, what the filmmakers are going to do (as they've been doing throughout filmmaking history) is abridge the plot and twist the flavors around to appeal to the general audience and not just MGS fans. What does that spell out for me? Disaster.

Sure, you're gonna say, "well, what about The Matrix? A lot of philosophy and complicated issues there, but it turned out to be a huge success?" True. However, The Matrix, as complex as it was (at least to the general audience), still followed a simple structure. The back-story was scarcely touched -- only in the beginning when Morpheus recounted to Neo the whole machine versus humanity affair. The origins of the Matrix system itself were tackled in Reloaded, which the general audience found boring. I'm not even going to talk about the disaster Revolutions was. And let's not forget that The Matrix started out as a movie. It wasn't based on an existing game or anime.*

So, back to MGS. Putting it simply and as straight-forward as possible: it'll turn out a disappointment. Maybe not a disaster (fingers crossed); but a disappointment. I'm gonna watch it (duh...) but I'm not going to be expecting a masterpiece.

Don't get mad people, but, to me, the sooner they cancel the project the better. Again... it is just me. -_-

* I'm a still a fan of The Matrix btw. ^_^

Hell, the types of movies Christian Bale plays in easily match with with an MGS movie, considering most of them tend to be fantasy-films, (not like Narnia or some retarded shit like that). But in most of his movies, there's always something unexpected, such as in the Machinist where he's dealing with his own psychological disorder.

Equilibrium, where he's attempting to bring back human emotions, etc.

Even in Batman Begins there's some hidden shit going on even within the very people who taught him his skills.

And Jesus Christ, snakeinthegear that photoshop was almost disturbingly accurate in how well his face matches Snake's.

I was stupidly impressed by Batman Begins and that's a very hard character to portray accurately.

But my question is, has Christian Bale even expressed any interest in being apart of this film?

Also, how long have they been working on this film for? If it comes out in 2009, then I'm guessing they already have an actor, or that's just when they plan on making the movie.
Johnny made shit the best thing on earth.
Next time I drop a kiliton of diharea, I'll think of you Johnny. *Salutes.*

Christian Bale is an actor's actor. He can play any part. Though the actors mean little regarding the quality of the movie. The SCRIPT is what makes or breaks it....With a good script/director combo you could have Jack Black play Snake and it'd be better than Christian Bale with a BAD writer/director combo!!!

First off, I'm not sure if anyone has pointed this out yet, but Kurt Wimmer, the director of the movie, directed Equilibrium which starred Christian Bale. If Christian Bale is seriously being considered from playing Snake, then he will more than likely get it and accept if it doesn't conflict with his other movies in already agreed to like Terminator 4.

That being said, Christian Bale is a great actor. If we get to be so lucky as getting him for the role, I'd be happy. I know he doesn't like Snake, but they can make him look Snake. He's not that far off from the look to begin with. I know there's other actors that would probably fit the role better, but who knows if they are even interested. Bale knows the director visa versa. If they are looking to hire a pretty well known actor, I'm guess it would be Bale.

^^ Yep, definitely has the look and is the right type of actor. He has been a bit off in certain films before but this is a good role for him.

I think Christian Bale is a WONDERFUL choice for both Liquid and Solid Snake.
Yes, both. Some people need to realize that -- in a film, when you need two characters to look identical ( TWINS ), and you don't have two of the actor you've chosen for the part, that actor should play both parts.

Christian Bale already HAS an accent, and is obviously a master of manipulating his voice in MANY different ways. He fits the role perfectly, in my opinion. As long as he -- and the big-wigs in charge of the film remember that Solid Snake wears the bandanna over ( as in ON-TOP of ) his brow, everything should go just fine.

This is a Metal Gear Solid Movie, not a Eddy Murphy Movie ^_^ .

Besides, if you look at Snake and Liquid, they don't look identical. I think all they need is someone that looks like Bale (or whoever it is that plays Snake).

Yeah, they don't look like each other that much.
We just need someone who has that accent and cocky-ness about him, just like Liquid.

Only guy I can think of is Sean Bean, but he's a little old now, aint he?
Maybe a couple of years back.. but I aint quite so sure now.

Christian Bale would be pretty good, and like others said, as long as he doesnt do that gay deep voice thing like in batman, he will be wonderful. Oh, and if he doesn't smoke Marlboro Reds in the movie, or doesn't smoke at all, I will be very pissed. Hehe, snake HAS to have his ciggies, hehe.

Oh yeah, and you guys are saying you want Hugh Jackman?! Let's see what Snake as to say... "Colonel, what the hell?!?! They want a horrible actor to play me, the legendary Solid Snake?!" Mei Ling " OOoo, you the great Legendary Solid Snake!" "Shut up, Mei Ling, Colonel, what are these people thinking!" Colonel "Shut up Snake, you have no say in the matter, and besides, odds are the movies are going to be FUBAR just like the Resident Evil movies, thus fans will sigh, cry for a few days, then go on replaying the games, so no worries B." "But Colonel..." "Yo, I said shut up Snake! Now go sneak that shit." "All right Colonel...*sighs, then lights up a Marlboro*"

Hmm, dont know. A good actor no doubt, but I have to say Gary Oldman for Ocelot would be perfect. Bale as Snake is perhaps on of the best choices they could make, undoubtebly a good actor.
