This thread is for anyone trying to find help on a speed run, limited equipment run, or naked run. Feel free to use the topics about the speed runs also, but myself and others will use this topic to post videos and or tips on how to get through any one certain area you may be having trouble with. Once I have completed my naked run I will post a link to the videos in this thread. Take-Chan, God Told Me to Skin You Alive, ichbinscissors61, OcelotSnake, and anyone else who is good at speed running, if you will check this topic often for helping out with questions. We are here to help anyone with questions. In most videos the masters like take chan make it look easy where as gamers just starting out my not know small details that it takes to accomplish certain things and may not be able to make certain things work. I will provide a detailed explanation to my videos on things you may not know are happening just by watching. We all love to watch videos here so anyone who has any post them up. Just because its not the fastest way doesn't mean it isn't worth watching. Sometimes something humorous you can do to a guard while speed running is better than doing it fast. |

Hmm, I meant to say, this is a great idea, this thread, why I pinned it. It should hopefully help out a lot of people. As for the run, I liked it, pretty impressed. Brightness doesn't matter a great deal to me, but I guess it was a little dark. Moving on from that though, I'd like to say a few things. You do know it's faster to roll up slopes, right? As I saw you running up a lot of them, when a roll may have cut time. One more thing, the last guy you slam in Dremuchij North could have been avoided, you could have just run straight past him, on the left side, he wouldn't have heard a thing. Well, I very much doubt he would, anyway. Dolinovodno was pretty much flawless, great performance, very clever strategy. Also, try setting the camera to 3rd person in the main game menu if you ever do that again, it should save time. Rassvet was good, I remember K.M doing some kind of stupidly hard tree evasion, but your way was excellent too, very calm and controlled. Nice thoughts on the distractions. As for run suggestions, I entertained the thought of a few this morning. Grenades sounds good, but on E-ex, won't you run out on bosses? Also, what sort of grenades, all types, stun g's only, regular? I was thinking of some really hard ones, which may be impossible, or very close. Knife only, but you may not knife anyone apart from bosses, so in other words, perfect stealth. I realise a suggestion like this is a bit insane. And another one for you. Scientist only, not sure if cig spray and hankerchief should be allowed in that yet. Of course, you don't get Scientist until Rassvet the second time, so, no CQC/naked/no equip until then, I suppose. Still with that, a lot of bosses will be hard, Fear, Boss and Fury will be alright, but not Volgin, you'll need to CQC him in order to punch him, that is, if the cig spray and hankerchief were ruled out. And, the final stupid challenge. No equip/no CQC/naked Foxhound. I may think of some easier ones soon, these suggestions are a bit tough. Anyway, loved the run, keep uploading, man. |

Sorry its dark, I dont really know what else I could do to make it better. And as for speed, well at this point I dont really care about the speed, im so frustrated with this whole run I just want to finish. It really pissed me off when I had to start all over again so I just said screw it and just went for a basic video. I wanted to just get a basic guide for an average gamer to follow. I know this can be drastically improved on, but its my first one so I will take what I can get. I have a video edited up to the cave right now so I will upload that soon. Im just going to post all of it on my first post there so anyone who comes to look doesn't have to scroll through every post to find them. |

Doesn't the box help you run up stairs faster too? Even if it does, not alowwed to use it on the naked no equipment run. |

You can sort the brightness out in Movie Maker if you like. It's very simple. Put your clip in the timeline, then right click, select Video effect and choose brightness increase. <_< Good job, by the way. B) |

Convert the DVDRip with AutoGK at its highest quality setting, then it will load into Movie Maker no problem.

Wow... lol. Today's the first day I've actually heard of these "speed runs" some of you guys do, so obviously I was quite impressed with the video, even though you say it can be improved on. I'm very interested to see how you get through the rest of the game, so for sure I'll be awaiting the next few videos. If any of you guys have links to other videos of speed runs I'd be happy to check them out. I guess I've never been quite into the MGS games as much as you guys appear to be, but I'd definitely like to know the games enough to go through them like this. |

Impressive unit man. I liked the knock distractions, and I'd say the moving into the room to take out the guy near the bed must have been tough to work out, as you'd need some idea of when he turned around. The bit from the jumping down was very impressive indeed. Can I say as well, you took a massive risk on the last guy. You didn't even stealth walk up, and a grab from running has to be absolutely perfect, they can't hear you, or you're on an alert. I'll watch it again in the morning and hopefully give a bit more feedback, I'm so tired now. Webbie - I'll Pm you back in the morning man, can't concentrate too good right now. As for movie maker, I have a Mac, so it looks like imovie for my editing tool. Cobb says it works nice though, so that's a good thing. |

I would love to have imovie. My uncle has a mac and I get so jealous of it. I just know pc's and how to fix them when they go bad. Yeah, that was a hard run for me to do because using a gun I can beat them in like 40 seconds. It was really hard to slow down and be patient. |

Yeah, I think my best on duel mode special is 35 something, ichbin just edged me out. I think I do have it recorded though, have to find it . Also, these videos do kind of suck in quality. Im going to get a capture device for my computer and do it like bagshot does. Much simpler. If you are thinking about how to do it ichbin I would suggest that way as well. To much of a pain to do it any other way. More videos shortly. |

Take-Chan - Sorry I took so long to reply. The unit in 40 secs on E-ex..... Well, there are 10 Ocelots, same as duel special. Here's Anonymityhope's special. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5woAEvlhVcY I'm not sure if this will work on E-ex, as shooting the first guy in the head seems to bring the unit charging in a lot faster. Maybe body shot him and go around the bed? Then do the rest as shown, and he will fall asleep as you're doing this, hopefully. I will have to try this out. I play this a little different to Anon on special, tranquing the guy crouching behind the low wall by shooting his head over that low wall, then getting the sniper. Just experiment here, I guess. This may work, not sure. My E-ex is a little slower, using the boxes to get the sniper. @Skywalker - A capture device? Hmm, this would be easier then? I just want some nice quality vids up with the minimum of fuss. I have absolutely no idea on these things. |
