I know there are a few hip hop fans around this place somewhere, and I feel we are grossly under represented in the music section, so I've decided to make this thread. Basically any hip hop fans discuss or post up some youtube vids of your favourite songs. I'll start off with a timeless classic from Souls Of Mischief http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mt3vZHDiM8 This is a very personal song for me, as it's one of the first songs I was told to listen too on tape when I first got into hip hop. It pretty much started off my love for hip hop and has been one of my favourite songs ever since. Discuss! |

Very good thinking Null. That track is awesome. That is hiphop defined. One of my favourites has to be Ghostface Killah - Daytona 500. I don't think there is any doubt as to why. edit: Hope nobody noticed that. |

A great example of old school rap there Null. Didn't know about Souls of Mischief, and it's a shame. Classic rap. I'm not too big of an Ice Cube fan, I do remember this song. I was glad when they had it on GTA:SA, because this is one of the songs I remember best from my childhood. My uncle is a huge rap fan, so I was greatly exposed to it as a kid. I've mostly listened to Public Enemy, Run DMC, some 2Pac and B.I.G. Got to see Public Enemy live here in Norway last year. It was awesome. |

Snake! TSF will know all about that. Long live the lounge. It is a classic track from a classic radio station and I have very fond memories of GTA SA too. Now this is in my top 3. Nikki Giovanni - The Rose That Grew From Concrete. It's so good, I'm taking it back to TSF. This is special for me, because it was the soundtrack to my life through some pretty stressful times. Lovely. |

Great songs guys, this is what I want. Keep it comin'. Public Enemy are amazing. Shame about Flava Flav, he tarred their overall image alot. It must of been hard for Chuck D to try and send out positive messages about the world and hip hop while Flav was getting into an untold amount of trouble with the law. This is my favourite song by PE; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6MlwT1lBk0 ''Get me the hell away from this TV, all these news and views are beneath me'' Indeeeeeed! |

Haha Null I remember this! Quality. It's difficult to bring up classic hiphop without giving the immortal, Illmatic a mention. For those who aren't quite accustomed to the world of unadulterated hiphop, it is worth stating that yes, it is that good. This is considered the gold standard nowadays. Starwars is one of many reasons to have bought the album in the first place. And if for some strange reason this wasn't enough, there were another 9 tracks to cast any doubt from your mind. Ill. |

@ jc55: Really good stuff there man. I love Illmatic, some of Nas' best EVER. The Rose that Grew from Concrete is truly amazing. Good stuff. @ Null: I agree. The guy does have a funny attitude at times, but it's hard to take PE seriously with him hangin around, especially with all the shit he's caused. Nevertheless, PE deliver the message and bum rush the show like no one else. Burn Hollywood Burn is a big favourite. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78Gq0feRntU This came out when I first started school. Good memories. |

Never been a massive fan of BTNH, but still appreciate some of their music. Especially the ones you posted, Thuggish Ruggish Bone is a classic. Don't know how you guys feel about Fat Joe, but I like him alot. Especially back in his D.I.T.C. days, he was a fucking monster. Anyways his new song produced by Dj Premier is fucking brilliant. Check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g01MTHyM9o |
