Probably she has more influence over to her son rather than Hideo about the whole "MGS is crap" thing. After all she is a woman and not much of them appreciate video games these days (no offense to the ladies here in the forums ). He consumes much energy and time on the development of an MGS game and he probably hasn't efficient time to spend with his family. Probably that makes his wife pissed off.

And that was the first day of production on MGS4.
