I kinda believed it the first time. But it was mysterious. Then when I saw the long white hair, I thought Snake had grown his hair Liquid style. Then the face showed. Nope. Different person. |

Regardless of what you people may think, using the words "fag" and "gay" to insult a video game character is insulting to those people who actually are homosexual (and even bisexual), because you're fundamentally saying that being this way means you're a somehow lower form of human being. My initial thought was "Hey, that's the dude from the opening scene." Later on, I really enjoyed playing with him ,but I had a constant hope of playing with Snake before the end of the game. |

My reaction was not very big, as I thought Raiden was the main character, actually. MGS2 was my first MGS game, and I never had a problem playing as him in any way. Even when I found out Snake was the "Main" character of the MGS series, I never had a problem with Raiden. I personally found him quite an interesting character, he had a lot of depth to his story and his personality. I wasn't shocked by his appearance or anything like that. Call me weird if you will, but I enjoyed playing as Raiden. The opening scene was well done for Raiden though, camouflaging him with the mask and masking his voice slightly. And amazingly enough, you have no clues on the SOL box that Raiden is even in it. I am amazed Kojima could keep something that big secret enough. Hats off to the man. |

@ Tamashi_7 Although I didn't say it with an insulting manner and I didn't have the intension of offending any of the members or their beliefs/palates on this forum, I apologize. I believe that the staff had some reason for this warning. I think it was unnecessary but I also respect their decision. MGS. |

I honestly didn't have any indifference to the introduction of Raiden. I hadn't followed up any of the pre-release hype to MGS2 so his introduction really wasn't that controversial, for me at least. |

I was initially shocked... But I liked Raiden, honestly. I actually like him better in him MGS2 form than in his MGS4 form. He was no Solid Snake, but -- especially after a further explanation of his role in the story as a whole, I believe his existence was vital in the evolution of the series, and the series is much healthier for it. And besides, talking to Snake, hearing him drop hints of his true identity as Plisskin, and finally after revealing himself -- hearing his advice are some of my best memories of the series. It really made Snake that much cooler . |

Bemused disappointment. At first I though it was Snake. After all the rat bastard GWCampbell told me it was, then I saw the hair which I though was weird, but the gas mask muffled his voice and it somewhat resembled Snakes. So we go through the Deep Sea Dock, I'm feeling nostalgic because its like seeing the Dock in then next gen graphics, do the sneaky sneak and get in the elevator. Then my world came crashing down around me. I had just had half an hour of bliss with Snake and now I get introduced to this young prick. But eventually I warmed to him, by third playthrough I was used to him. But Pliskin and the new angle on Snake more than made up for it. |

I was hoping someone would say this before me. It's 2008 and even worse, it's a video game character, I never understood what was with all of the homophobic comments that have been directed toward Raiden for the past like eight years. Okay, we get it, he looks like a chick, that's cool, but honestly is it that big of a deal? The sad part is that half of the people who make comments like this probably play Final Fantasy as well, which makes these comments ever more particularly ignorant. [/end mini-rant] |
