Kiefer's Lady
Part 81

Suite 1901, Diamond Hotel - Los Angeles

Jason hadn't gotten far with his plans. Taking enjoyment in the steadiness of his motions. He smiled as he looked down at Melissa. Leaning closer to her. Feeling his hot breath against her cheek and her lips. In her mind, she saw herself fighting back. Moving to avoid any part of him from touching her. But her body felt like some hundred tonne weight. Surprised she could still breathe but she wasn't even sure if her chest moved. Jason smirked. Staring down at her lips as Melissa fought to speak out even one syllable,
"J..."
"This drug's stronger that I first bloody thought," Jason sniggered as he moved closer to her. His eyes still focused on her lips as she uttered,
"D..."
"What?" Jason whispered as he eased away from her. Looking over towards the bedside table as he asked, "What do you want to say?"
There was a short whimper but it was barely audible over the creak of the bed as Jason leaned over, closer to the bedside table.

The drawer on the table was open swiftly and silently. Reaching inside for the knife he had in there as he moved to straddle Melissa's waist. Keeping her steady between his legs as Jason got a hold of the knife. Leaving the drawer open as he eased back. Wincing gently as the bed creaked once more. Bringing his gaze to focus on Melissa as she opened her eyes weakly. Her head fell limply to her right. Seeing half a curtain on the left of her field of view. Her arm on the right. She made no fight when her eyes closed again. Whimpering and gasping loudly as she felt heat coming closer to her. Trembling on the inside as she listened to a blade tear through the left side of the shirt she wore. Sliding down gradually as Jason became closer and closer to what he wanted.

Staircase 6A, Diamond Hotel - Los Angeles

Jack shook his head as he passed the doorway to see sixth floor of the hotel. Stopping steadily as he reached into his pocket for his ringing phone. Panting gently as he answered,
"Bauer,"
"Jack it's Paul. We are three minutes away. Where are you?"
"I'm on staircase six A. Starting to climb the next staircase now,"
"Anything on Mel?"
"No not yet. I'll get her,"
"She's going to be in a right state,"
"Yeah I know," Jack panted as he moved forward, "I want you to keep the back up teams down in the lobby. Have a team go into the basement. Guard all exits in case Jason manages to escape,"
"Got it. Send the paramedic straight to the suite?"
"Yeah. Someone's gonna need fixing. Most likely Jason as soon as I'm done with him,"
"Good luck Jack,"
"Thanks," he huffed as he reached the seventh floor. Hanging up and slipping his phone into his pocket. Quickening his pace again as he climbed the remaining flights of stairs.

Suite 1901, Diamond Hotel - Los Angeles

The shirt and bra that had been covering her chest had now been removed. Revealing half of her figure to him. Jason put a brief stop to his ritual. Leaning closer to her again as he whispered,
"You know. I don't know why you hid away,"
A fear filled shiver shot down Melissa's spine as she felt a brush of fingertips against her neck. Feeling Jason's hand lowering closer to her chest. A hard swallow was clearly heard and seen as it shot down her throat. Her chest started to heave as part of her began to come to again. Her body starting to fight through the fuzzy walls the drug was creating. Jason shook his head when he felt the change. Saw it in the tension he watched force her body to stiffen up.

The knife that was in Jason's right hand was quickly used again as he shuffled down the bed. Slicing open her jeans from the waistband down to the very tip of the left leg. Spreading the sliced clothing apart before he climbed off the bed. Stepping away, Jason took one last look at Melissa before he turned away and stepped into the other bedroom. Taking a second metallic case out from the drawer close by. Opening up the case as another whimper echoed from the bed. A smirk quickly grew on Jason's lips as he took out a second syringe from the case. Confused over the powers of the drug he was using. Hoping its strongest power didn't last for mere minutes. Jason shook his head again. Hoping a second shot would give him all the time he needed with her.

Jason entered the main room of the suite and climbed quickly onto the bed. Straddling Melissa's waist as he reached for her arm. Injecting a second lot of the drug into her veins. Waiting for it to work over her. About to move away and take away the rest of her clothing when the handle on the door began to rattle violently. Jason gasped and jerked as he dropped the empty syringe. Turning his head towards the door as a voice shouted from behind it,
"Open the door!"
Jason smirked. Looking down at Melissa as he recognized the voice. Shaking his head as Jack attempted to negotiate,
"Open this door Jason!"
...
"Jason!"
...
"Lay one finger on her and I'll have my own fun with you!"
"Too late for that pal," Jason muttered as he moved to continue on with his game.

He reached for the top of the waistband once more. Working on the right side of her waist. Slicing through the denim as silence filled the corridor outside the suite. Jason smirked. Continuing to cut through the denim. Cutting Melissa out of her clothes when a thunderous boom echoed from the door. Jason gasped and jolted a second time at the sudden eruption. Freezing when he heard Jack's cries,
"Mel! Mel! C'mon!"
Jason looked back down at Melissa when he heard a weak hiss from beneath him. Wondering what was wrong. He shook his head when he found the cause of the hiss. Seeing a few millimetres of the blade digging into Melissa's skin. He eased the blade back. Tilting his head as he watched the opening fill gradually with her crimson lifeline. Shaking his head slowly as he watched her hip develop a small slim zit.

The cries had quickly become silent on the other side of the door. The rumbling of the doors had copies its pattern. Dying out as quickly as the hope that was still solid in Melissa's heart. Jason smiled at the idea that set off another fire inside him. He threw the knife into his other hand as he shuffled down the bed. Undoing the jeans she was still managing to wear. Pulling them apart slowly as he lowered down closer to the tiny open wound. About to take the small line of her blood with his tongue when the door to the suite crashed open. Jason jerked as he fell forward. Grabbing the gun from beneath the pillow as he pressed the blade of the knife against Melissa's neck. His eyes focused on the third party as Jack entered the room. His gun drawn and ready to fire when he laid his eyes on the figure beneath the monster.

He found his breath caught in his throat. His heart felt like ice but pounded fiercely within its glacier like case. His lips parted. Unable and unwanting to accept the image in front of him was actually real. Jack shook his head. The image burned into his psyche. Seeing Melissa, his wife, beneath another man. Nothing on her hands or feet. Her chest naked. Barely able to see her chest rise and fall as she breathed. The more private part of her open and leaving her wide open for anyone to take as her arms remained tied above her head. A real haze gradually fell over his eyes but she still saw through the hazy field. Seeing Jason in the state he was in. Half naked. On top of her. The knife against her neck. The gun trained on him as Jason remained straddled over Melissa's waist.

Jack took in a sharp gasp as Jason sat up slowly. Keeping the gun level on Jack's chest. The knife slipped away from her neck but became tilted downwards. His fingers altered positions. Wrapping around the knife handle tightly and in a position to give him the perfect speed and amount of power to drive it straight into her heart. Jack's hold on his gun hardened. Sealing his lips. Clenching his teeth as he fought to pick up the tonne weights his feet had mutated into. Wanting to charge forward and deliver his anger to Jason in violent kicks and punches. But the gun trained on his chest, and the knife hovering above Melissa's chest, kept him at bay. Staring at Jason as the straddling man warned,
"One slight move and it goes straight through her,"
Jack clenched his teeth harder. Making his jaw ache. Made worse as Jason continued,
"And I do mean the knife. Not my dick,"
"Put the knife away," Jack ordered with a growl. His jaw relaxing somewhat compared to the rest of his figure.

Jason snorted. Staring at Jack still as he lowered the knife by an inch. Jack raised his gun higher. Determined to take him out before CTU could arrive. Knowing prison wouldn't be any near the level of revenge he was seeking for everyone involved with Melissa. Even finding the option of death wasn't good enough to satisfy his hunger,
"What are you going to do?" Jason asked. Taunting Jack as he continued, "You can either try and kill me. Or I could kill her. Or I could kill you. Or... even better yet... You could join me,"
Jack raised his left eyebrow before Jason could finish his sentence,
"In bed of course. Then we all get what we want,"
The anger that was already on meltdown level, erupted within Jack at Jason's last words. Jason was taken aback by the explosion in front of him. Staggering on the bed. Falling back as Jack launched his attack. Charging forward as he released an anger fuelled primal scream. Throwing the gun aside as he threw himself at Jason. Rugby tackling him to the floor. Knocking the gun and knife out of Jason's hands as they crashed to the floor.

Jason reached up for Jack's neck. Hoping to get a hold of him that would weaken Jack. But he wasn't given the chance. Squeezing his eyes shut as he felt one of Jack's hands close around his neck tightly. Jack's right hand clenched tightly into a whitening fist. Throwing it fast and hard into Jason's face. Throwing his head to his right. Adding more and more strength to the punches that followed. Taking some amusement and bliss in the cries of pain and anguish Jason threw back at him. Forcing his eyes open after the eight punch to the face. Jason brought his arms back to life and grabbed a hold of Jack's wrist with his left hand. Slamming his own fist into Jack's jaw in the same move. Dazing Jack briefly as he fell back. Shaking his head only once when he the scraping of Jason scrambling to his feet. Grabbing a hold of the gun and turning back to face Jack. Finding him alert and getting to his knees. His eyes open and focused on the gun in Jason's hands as he rushed forward.

There was a growl in the same violent tone from both men as Jack grabbed a hold of the wrist on Jason's right hand. Turning the gun away as he pushed Jason's arm back. The two barely flinching as the gun was fired. Firing a round into the wall above the headboard. Jack gritted his teeth. Turning the gun further away from them both as Jason pulled the trigger a second time. A third time. The fourth and final bullet ejected from the gun became embedded in the headboard. The two almost distracted by the faint whimper they heard from the bed. But their adrenaline kept them both in play. Jason crying out loud as Jack slammed down the hand, that gripped the gun, hard against the side of the bed. Knocking out the weapon before Jason fell back. Wondering if the blow had given more pain that he had imagined it to have done. Jack found himself unguarded as Jason pulled his wrist free of Jack's hold and launched both of his feet into Jack's abdomen. Pushing Jack away and down onto his back as Jason went to find another weapon.

Jack shook his head as he bit back the storming pain in his gut. Rolling over onto his stomach quickly. Crawling round to the back of the bed. Hiding behind the side that Melissa laid on. He held his breath. Listening out for anything that would give away Jason's location. Or even his approach as he heard a soft hiss of a cursing,
"Bloody hell!"
From the other side of the bed. Hearing the recognizable scrape of a metal blade against the side of a radiator as Jason climbed to his feet. Jack froze instantly. Staring ahead of him at the open space inside the bedside table. Spotting a set of keys on the floor of the opening. He reached forward carefully with his right hand. Taking a silent hold of the ring of keys. Bringing them closer to his chest and slipping them into a small pocket as Jason climbed to his feet. Looking over towards the door of the suite as Jack rolled over onto his left side. Still hidden behind the bed as he laid his back up against the side of the bed. Staring ahead at the door as Jason yelled,
"You just going to run off!?"
Jason shook his head. Taking a step closer to the bathroom door. Reaching for the handle as he shouted,
"I thought you loved her!?"
Jack's teeth almost shattered with the pressure applied to both bottom and top row. Fighting back his urge to jump up from behind the bed and attack him again. Show him how he really felt.

Jason shook his head. Gripping the knife tightly as he stepped even closer to the bathroom door. Holding the door handle tightly as he taunted,
"You don't even come close to feeling the love and care I feel for her,"
"That why you tied her up and want to rape her instead of letting her go and be happy?" Jack asked back instinctively. Unable to keep his silence any longer,
"I'm not going to rape her," Jason laughed as he stayed on his feet. Stayed glued to the spot he stood on. Looking round the room. Trying to figure out where Jack was. Wondering if it was worth checking the corridor outside. But his eyes wandered and looked over at the second bedroom. The door still open. Jack still nowhere in sight as his voice echoed out again from nowhere,
"If you really loved her. And if you really cared about her. You'd let her live her life the way she wanted it. And let her fall in love with whoever she wanted to,"
"She's insane. So why should I let her decide to do anything she wanted to do? Or even fall in love with someone like you?"
"Cause it's her heart to give to who she wants. It's not yours."
"You're a real romantic aren't you?" Jason asked through a soft whisper as he began to step away from his position.

Jack turned his head and looked down towards the bottom of the bed. Seeing the shadow growing on the floor. Knowing Jason was coming closer to him. He reached into the small pocket on the side of his boots. Feeling the handle of a small combat knife still locked in the small slot. Carefully and quietly releasing the tie on the pocket before reaching inside for the handle on the knife. Sliding the weapon silently from the small satchel like slot. Closing all four fingers around the handle as he raised his gaze towards the top of the bed. Watching as a part of Jason came into view. Watching as the jet black hair turned to face him. His eyes focused on the bedroom as Jack sat up slowly and quietly. Taking a quick look at Melissa. Making sure she was still alright before he looked back at Jason. Finding him steadily moving into the bedroom. Jack shook his head as he climbed to his feet. Staying in a crouched position as he strengthened his hold on the knife. Staring at Jason still as he rose up from his crouched position. Staying low as he made his approach.

Jason looked round the bedroom quickly. The curtains were still drawn. Allowing natural light to fill the room. Helping to give away positions more easily now as he scanned the floor. Making his way round to the side of the bed as Jack entered the bedroom. Straightening his stance somewhat as he moved closer to Jason. About to throw the knife into the back of Jason's neck when Jason turned round. Reaching forward with his own knife. Forcing Jack to jump back as the knife came around to slice open his abdomen. Staggering on his feet. His back slammed into the door of the bedroom. Closing it as he fell. Sliding away from Jason as he launched a second attack. Stabbing the door with the knife. Growling as the weapon became stuck inside the wooden block. Releasing his hold from the handle. Jason turned and threw out his right foot. Stomping down on Jack's left. Keeping him pinned down to the floor as Jack fell back. Holding himself up with both hands. He threw out his right up. Lifting it high towards Jason's groin. Catching him straight between the legs.

The blow forced Jason fall back himself. Scrambling away as Jack got to his feet in an instant. Rushing forward as Jason climbed to his feet. Grabbing a hold of both of Jack's wrists. Preventing him from using the knife or even his free hand. Fighting to break away from his hold as Jason began to pivot. Twisting Jack round until his back was towards the bedroom window. Waiting until Jack seemed perfectly in line with the opening before he raised his right foot. Kicking Jack away as he released his restraining hold on Jack's arms. Pushing him away but screaming pain as the knife he held sliced down his wrist. Quickly coming to an abrupt stop. Jack turned and looked down through the window. Spotting the back up teams just arriving at the hotel. Recognizing Paul climbing out of the first vehicle. Quickly instructing the teams to separate and take over the perimeter or the building before instructing the paramedics to rush inside.

Jack quickly snapped his head back round to face Jason. Hearing the rapid approach. He fell to his knees as Jason came close to him. Covering his head and neck with a wrap of his arms. Squeezing his eyes shut as he listened to the glass window smash. Hearing screams of shock from the people outside. Followed quickly by a scream of horror as they watched a body fall from the tenth floor. Paul spun round as he stood on the sidewalk below. Backing off away from the sidewalk as glass shattered against the concrete slabs. His eyes focused on the body that fell from the window. Hitting the sidewalk with a sickening crack. Watching as the neck of the body became broken. The head sliding against the floor as his neck snapped into two. Paul shook his head as he ran forward. Taking out his gun from its holster. Training it on the corpse as he kicked it over onto its back. Recognizing Jason's sliced face. He shook his head. Looking up at the tenth floor as he hissed,
"Bloody hell Jack!"
"Should I call for another medic car sir?" an officer asked from his left,
"Might as well. Think you going to need a different car though,"
The officer nodded. Turning away as he reached for the radio and quickly called in,
"Man down at Diamond hotel. Requesting medic car,"
"Copy that."

Suite 1901, Diamond Hotel - Los Angeles

Jack quickly opened the door and rushed back into the main suite. Throwing away the knife coated in a thin film of Jason's blood. Reaching into the pocket that held the keys he'd found as he climbed onto the bed. Kneeling down next to her as he reached for the cuffs. Releasing the metal bond from around her right wrist. Moving onto the cuff on her left as he called out to her,
"Hey,"
There was a slight whimper in response but her eyes remained closed as her hands hit the bed above her. Jack shook his head as he threw away the cuffs and the keys Ignoring the clang they made as they hit the wall. Leaning down closer to her. Softly holding her face in his hands as he watched a grimace come over her face. Shaking his head at the gasp that came from her as he asked,
"Can you hear me?"
Her head fell limply to her left. A long sigh escaping her before she became still. Jack swallowed hard. Reaching for her neck with two fingers. Making sure she was still alive as he watched her eyes for any sign of life. He huffed quietly at how lifeless she appeared to be. Feeling fear and worry filling him as he tried to figure out what was wrong.

He pulled back as soon as he realized that a team was going to be arriving in the suite at any moment. Looking round the room quickly. Trying to find something to cover her. He spotted a blanket hanging from an open drawer close by. He gasped quietly as he moved to climb off the bed. Quickly making his way over to the drawer. Pulling the blanket out with some force before he turned back to the bed. Climbing onto it again. About to cover her with the blanket when he became distracted by a sudden tremble from below. He looked back down at Melissa again as he watched her lips part slowly. Leaning down closer to her as she whispered,
"Please don't,"
"It's me. It's Jack. You're alright," Jack whispered back to her as he laid the blanket down over her chest. Moving his hands higher as he held her face in his hands again. Whispering softly to her again, "He's not here anymore."
"No... I don't..."
Jack squinted his eyes for a moment. Studying her closed her eyes as he whispered,
"Mel, open your eyes. It's me,"
"Jason, stop... I don't..."
"He's not here! It's Jack! Open your eyes and look at me,"
A short forceful sigh was shoved free from her lungs. Her head swaying again. Turning towards her right now. Jack raised his head. Staring at her for a brief moment until his right eye caught a glimpse of an object glistening in the slight sunlight that came into the room. Turning his head to the right. His breath was quickly caught in his throat. Gasping if he could as he raised his head higher. His eyes widening in horror as he reached for the empty syringe on the bed beside them. Bringing it closer to his eyes. Seeing a slight sample of the drug he'd used on her still in the capsule.

Jack shook his head. Raising his eyes. Staring at the door as he saw a clip of what he could have seen happen. Seeing Melissa tied up and injected with the drug. Falling weak and becoming as disorientated as she was now. Easily giving Jason what he wanted. A free ride with no one inside the body to fight back. He turned his head back to look down at Melissa again. Leaning down closer to her as her eyes fluttered open. Her lips sealed again as Melissa turned her head to look up at the ceiling. Jack held his breath as he locked gazes with her. Watching as she looked at him directly. He smiled a little. Whispering to her,
"Hey. Can you hear me?"
He watched the hard swallow she took travel down her throat. Watching as she began to become disorientated again,
"Stay with me." Jack whispered, encouragingly as he reached for her hands. Holding them both as he lowered her arms. Whispering heavily as he felt his tears building,
"Mel! Stay with me!"
He squeezed her hands gently. Whispering louder than before but heavier now,
"Mel! C'mon!"
Jack swallowed hard. Watching as her head fell to her right. A short huff of breath escaping her before she fell unconscious. Jack shook his head. Bringing his right hand to his face. Covering his mouth with his hand as a tear fell from his eyes. Realizing how close she was to almost becoming destroyed inside. He shook his head. Lowering his hand as he fought to clear his throat and stop the rest of his tears from falling. Feeling his fear soaring now. Wondering what her parents would be capable of now if they ever found out about what Jason had attempted to do with their daughter.

Footsteps echoed suddenly from the corridor outside. Catching Jack off guard. He quickly reacted and moved to wrap Melissa in the blanket. Lifting her gently and safely. Wrapping her in the blanket as the medic team arrived in the doorway of the suite. Stopping abruptly when they found Jack lifting Melissa up from the bed and into his arms. Carefully climbing off the bed as the lead medic asked,
"What's her status?"
"We're gonna need a full body scan and blood tests."
"Why blood tests?"
Jack placed his feet firmly on the floor. Looking down at the syringe. The medics focused their eyes on the syringe. Nodding quickly as they stepped back and allowed Jack to step out of the room and quickly make his way out towards the exit of the building.

Paul turned away from the door of the first tac vehicle. Bringing the radio close his lips as he listened to the voice fizz on the other end of the device,
"Medic's have entered the hotel suite,"
"Is Jack there?"
"He's exiting the building now sir,"
Paul lowered the radio as he brought his attention to the main doors of the hotel. Watching as two agents stood by the doors stepped back. Watching as Jack raced out of the hotel. Looking through the field of black and blue agents. Spotting Paul close by. Paul lowered the radio fully. Hooking it onto his belt as he raced forward towards Jack. Looking down at Melissa as he asked,
"What did he do to her?"
"I only know he drugged her,"
"With what?"
"I don't know. I found a syringe on the bed. She's disorientated. Falling in and out of consciousness. I need to get her to CTU,"
Paul nodded quickly. Whispering with a laboured breath,
"Come on. I'll drive you both over there myself,"
"Thanks,"
Paul smiled and nodded again as he turned and made his way over to the car. Opening the back door of the car. Stepping back as he allowed Jack to move into the car. Keeping Melissa close to his chest. Bending her knees and bringing them closer to him as he brought her head to rest against his shoulder. Kissing her forehead tenderly when he heard a whimper seep through her sealed lips. Paul leaned over and watched as Jack climbed into the car. Keeping a hold of the door as he asked,
"Is she alright?"
"I hope so,"
Paul nodded. Quickly slamming the door shut before rushing round to the other side of the car. Jack shook his head as he looked down at her again. Feeling the jerk she made at the thunderous slam. Staring at her the entire time it took for them to reach CTU.

Outside Grounds, CTU - Los Angeles

Henry was stood outside on the ramp by the time the car pulled into the parking lot of CTU. Bill unfolded his arms as he stepped down from the doors. Standing by Henry as he whispered,
"Jack said she was in a bad way."
"That is expected," Henry muttered back in response. Bill sighed softly and nodded. Placing his hands on his hips for a moment as they waited for the car to pull up at the bottom of the ramp. Recognizing Paul in the drivers seat. The two men looked back behind them as Doctor Bradson rushed out of the double doors. Two nurses and a gurney behind him. The group waiting for Paul to climb out and open the back door. Helping Jack climb out of the car. Keeping a hold of Melissa in his arms. Jack steadied himself on his feet. Avoiding Paul's swinging arms as he closed the back door. The two looking down at Melissa as she raised her head. Looking round the area they were in. Looking as though she'd awoken from a long nights sleep. They stayed silent. Waiting for some sort of word to echo from her mouth. Watching her eyes as they flickered rapidly. Looking as though she was still on edge. Worried and scared about her surroundings.

Bradson quickly moved in. Coming round to stand by the two. Looking down at Melissa as he asked,
"Any idea what drug was used?"
Jack shook his head. Answering quickly,
"No. I found a syringe but-"
"Did you find the other?" Bradson asked as he brought his eyes onto Jack,
"... What other? What are you talking about?"
"The medics on site have called and told me that they found an extra syringe. It's possible there was two drugs used. And the result of their mix up is..." Bradson paused. Looking at Melissa again as he finished, "This,"
Jack lowered his head and looked down at Melissa again. Having the same response as Paul as the British agent covered his mouth with his hand. Staring down at Melissa as Jack questioned,
"Is she gonna be alright? Can't a mix up of two drugs be deadly?"
"Yes. It can be," Bradson answered vaguely as he waved over to the nurses. Signalling for them to bring over the gurney. Jack juggled Melissa gently in his arms. Getting a better hold on her as he whispered,
"He got rid of everything that was covering her chest. This blanket is the only thing that's covering her,"
Bradson swallowed hard. Realizing how worse the situation was getting still. Nodding his head slowly before he asked,
"What about her lower half?"
"Her jeans have been torn apart. But they're still covering her,"
"Did you get to check her chest for any injuries?"
"There was only the bruises from what happened before today that I saw."
"Anything different?"
"No. I didn't see anything,"
"Okay good. I'll be able to keep the blanket around her."
Jack nodded slowly. Seeing the gurney close by. Paul lowered his hands and took a step forward. Helping Jack get Melissa laid down on the gurney. Making sure she remained covered before she was taken away. Bradson quickly running after the nurses as they entered the building. Rushing past Bill and Henry as they stepped down and made their way over to the remaining two by the car.

Henry shook his head. Folding his arms as he stared at Jack. Asking quietly,
"What occurred at the hotel room?"
Jack shook his head. Running the palm of his hand down the back of his neck. Shivering quietly before he described,
"I ran up to the tenth floor. Found the suite and tried the door. It was locked so I started shouting for Jason... And I fuckin dumbly thought he would be open to negotiations,"
"You can't blame yourself for any of this Jack," Paul replied softly, "There was no way in hell you could have imagined this to happen."
Jack shook his head. Taking in a long shaky inhale as he placed his hands on his hips. Staring down at the floor as he continued,
"I tried shouting for Mel. But I didn't hear anything. So, I kicked down the door. Found her tied to the bed. Her chest was naked. Her legs about to come next. Jason was on top of her. Using a knife to cut her out of her clothes,"
Henry swallowed hard. Turning away as he started to feel just as sick as Jack was starting to feel. Knowing Paul was starting to come to the same feeling as he covered his mouth again. Staring off into the distance as Jack explained still,
"I told him to drop the knife. But he wouldn't... He suggested that I could join them both in bed. That way, he said that we'd get what we both want,"
"Oh good Lord!" Henry cursed. Hearing him crumbling as his words splurged out from between his lips. Shaking his head as Jack finished,
"I just screamed and ran for him."
Bill shook his head. Asking quietly,
"What happened then?"
"We got into a fight. Ended up in the other bedroom. I fell over at one point by the window. Looked out to see Paul with the teams outside the hotel. Next thing I know, Jason is charging towards me. I duck and he goes straight through the window."
"You know," Paul replied again as he lowered his hand. Jack turned his head to his left. Facing Paul as he carried on, "I thought you'd thrown him out of that thing,"
Jack smirked. Shaking his head before he whispered, honestly,
"I wish I had."
Bill smiled and nodded. Sighing softly before Jack asked,
"Where's Amy? Is she alright?"
"Amy's with Chloe and Morris. She's absolutely fine. Don't worry," Bill comforted him. Jack nodded slowly. Exhaling heavily before he stepped away from the three men and moved to go into CTU.

Clinic, CTU - Los Angeles

The team waiting in the clinic had moved quickly to begin their investigation. Blood samples had been taken and were quickly being tested for the drug or drugs that had been used. Leaving her chest covered by the blanket, Bradson quickly moved to check Melissa's lower half. Finding the jeans open but relieved that there was more covering her. He reached forward when he spotted a small red slice. Pulling back a small part of her jeans when Melissa jerked and whimpered. Trying to move away but found herself stuck again. Gasping and whimpering. Bradson raised his head and moved to stand by her head. Looking down on her as he whispered,
"You are in the clinic at CTU. You're not in any trouble,"
"Please don't..." She whispered breathlessly. Feeling tears building as she pleaded again, "I don't..."
Bradson shook his head. Lifting his head again when a nurse spoke out loud,
"Agent Bauer,"

Jack closed the door quietly behind him. Stepping closer to the bed they had transferred Melissa to as he asked,
"What are you doing?"
Bradson huffed gently. Stepping away from the bed as a nurse moved to stand guard by the bed. Jack folded his arms slowly. Staring at Melissa until Bradson came to stand beside him. Facing the doctor quickly as Bradson whispered,
"Was she raped?"
"I don't know. He had her almost fully undressed when I got there. But I don't know what happened after she was taken yesterday,"
Bradson nodded. The two looking back at Melissa when they heard a sharp gasp from the bed. Jack unfolded his arms and quickly rushed over to the bed. Allowing the nurse to step back. Raising her hand in surrender when she found Jack quickly running over to them.

Melissa opened her eyes quickly. Gasping again. Looking up at Jack as he whispered softly to her,
"Baby it's alright. It's alright. It's me. It's Jack,"
"I can't,"
"You can't what?"
"I can't,"
"What can't you do?"
Her eyes closed quickly. Watching and hearing her gasp again as Jack whispered,
"Tell me what you can't do,"
Bradson slowly moved towards the bed. Intently watching as Melissa whispered again,
"I don't... I don't want..."
Jack shook his head. Staring at her as Melissa closed her eyes again. Gasping again as Bradson came to stand by the bed. Staring down at Melissa as Jack turned to look at him. Asking quietly,
"What's happening to her?"
"I don't know." Bradson commented. Leaning closer to her. Tilting his head so his ear was close to her lips. Waiting for another gasp to come before he thought out loud, "It's as though she can't breathe,"
"Any idea what kind of drug can cause that?"
"A tranquilliser, possibly,"
"What type of tranquilliser?"
"The two syringes that were found there. They could have been the same drug. A high dosage of a tranquilliser could possibly affect a persons breathing. I have heard of new experimental drugs that also relax all organs incredibly. But there have been test subjects that have died due to this,"
"What about her heart?"
"Hopefully that won't suffer any damage,"
"Hopefully? You sayin this could actually kill her?"
"A tranquilliser might be of some help to people on edge. But we are not certain of the dosage he injected into her. He could have given her an amount that could temporarily turned her into a vegetable. Or he could have injected enough that has could kill her,"
Jack shook his head as he looked back down at Melissa. Watching as she opened her eyes. Looking off towards the transparent walls.

Jack eased back as Bradson straightened his back. Staring down at her. Watching her as Jack took a step back. Staring at her as he felt his heart start to race in fear. His eyes becoming glazed over with building tears as he turned away from the bed. Approaching the transparent walls. Squeezing the bridge of his nose with his left hand as he held onto his waist with his right hand. Staring down at the floor as Bradson informed,
"We can only wait until the blood tests return,"
"Can you neutralize a tranquilliser?" Jack asked as his left hand fell from his face. Staring down at the floor still as Bradson explained,
"This depends on the tranquilliser that was used. If it iis/i a tranquilliser. We don't know what we are dealing with here. Other than an assault victim."
Jack raised his head and cleared his throat gently. Staring at the walls. Watching as Henry came to a stop in the corridor. Staring at Jack as Bradson spoke softly,
"The best thing we can do right now is to watch her until the blood tests come to us. If it is a tranquilliser, then I will inject a stimulant, or even a small dosage of adrenaline, to try and rouse her awake again."
"And if it isn't?" Jack questioned. Watching Henry as he recognized the fear in Jack's eyes,
"If it isn't, then I will search for a drug to combat the drug that has been used. Until then, I would prefer it if you could stay here and watch her Agent Bauer,"
Jack turned round slowly. Facing Bradson as he requested,
"She will be fine. I promise. I would just like someone to be here for her. And since you are the person closest to her. And the person she knows she can trust right now. It would be best if you could be here. Try and talk her round again. See if she can come to her senses again,"
Jack nodded slowly. Muttering gently,
"Okay,"
Bradson smiled and nodded. Thanking him quietly before he turned and followed the nurses out of the small room and down towards the laboratories in the clinic.

Henry shook his head as he watched the nurses and doctor exit the room. Approaching the door that opened up into the clinic as Jack pulled up a chair beside the bed Melissa laid on. Stirring and fidgeting slowly. Jack sighed softly as he reached for her hand. Holding her hand softly, lovingly, in both of his. Bringing her hand to his lips. He kissed her softly as Henry approached the two. Folding his arms as he stood at the bottom of the bed for a moment. Watching as Melissa jerked and gasped again. Henry shook his head. Coming round to the opposite side of the bed. Looking down on her as a tear fell from his left eye. Shaking his head as he whispered,
"I cannot believe the level of infliction they are willing to go to. Just to get what they want,"
"There's some maniacs out there," Jack responded as he laid Melissa's hand against the bed. Staring at her as Henry replied,
"Yes. Indeed there is. But these people are beyond manic level. They are..." Henry shook his head as he came to a stop. Unsure what to call them as he took a seat on the bed next to them. Shaking his head once more as he commented, "There is no word in human language to describe their levels of violence and disrespect,"
Jack nodded slowly. Staring at Melissa still. Biting back his tears as he watched her wake up once more. Gasping harshly. Jack leaned closer to her. Whispering to her gently,
"Easy. You're alright,"
Henry watched silently. Watching as Jack whispered,
"Can you say anything?"
She took another hard swallow. Shaking her head that caused Jack to smile. Asking quietly,
"You can hear me?"
She nodded slowly, whimpering quietly as she closed her eyes. Gasping again before she whispered inaudibly,
"I can't..."
"What can't you do?"
Her lips parted again as she fought to whisper out repeatedly,
"I can't... Can't... can't brea-"
Jack winced at the gasp she took in again. Feeling as though he was watching her slowly die before him.

Henry got up from the bed he was sat on. Approaching the bed as Jack got to his feet. Looking down on Melissa again as she centred her head. Gasping quietly as Jack asked,
"You can't breathe?"
Melissa nodded quickly. Gasping again. Jack shook his head. Taking a seat on the bed beside her as Henry went to find Bradson. Jack took away his left hand from hers. Keeping a hold of her hand in his right hand as he caressed her hair softly with his left hand. Leaning down closer to her as Jack whispered,
"It's alright. You'll be fine. You're safe here,"
"Where's-" A small pause was made as she gasped again. Asking quickly, "Where's Jason?"
"He's dead,"
"You kill-him?"
"No, not really."
"Is he-"
"He's dead. He just... threw himself out of a window,"
Melissa smiled. Gasping before she started to cough. Jack smirked. Chuckling gently as he softly spoke to her,
"Easy. Easy,"
She nodded slowly. Sighing heavily before she gasped again. Jack smiled. Leaning down closer to her. Kissing her forehead softly before he sat up straight. Looking back at the door that swung up with a gentle creak. Finding Henry and Bradson rushing inside. Henry standing back as Bradson raced over to the bed.

Jack climbed off the bed. Keeping a hold of Melissa's hand as Bradson stood by the bed. Taking out a needle from the metallic case in his hand. Testing the syringe as Jack asked,
"What is it?"
"The drug he used was a double dose of a drug in testing,"
"What drug?"
"It's the most powerful tranquilliser to date. The NHS is wanting it banned. It's been codenamed sleeper cell,"
"Sleeper cell?"
"It makes the person who has been injected with it to feel drowsy. And is kept awake by the continually gasping."
"So she can breathe?"
"Yes. She can breathe. But the drug is making her feel as though she can't,"
"Is that an antidote?"
"In a way. It will ease the gasping and destroy most of the drug."
"Why most? Why not all of it?"
"The sleepiness of the tranquilliser will remain. But that is a good thing. Not a bad thing,"
"Why's that?"
"The sleep she will fall into will help her recuperate quickly."
Jack nodded. Watching as Bradson as he finished explaining to them both,
"We will know the antidote is in effect when we see her falling to sleep. I have your consent with doing this?"
"Yes, of course,"
Bradson nodded and inched closer to Melissa's left arm. Nodding his head quickly at Jack. Jack nodded and looked back at Melissa as Henry stepped closer to the bed.

Taking a gentle hold of her arm, Bradson prepared to inject the contents of the syringe into her. Looking over at Jack as Henry came round to join him. The two looking down at her as her figure jerked. Watching as another gasp was taken. Their eyes focused on her as Bradson slipped the tip of the syringe into her skin. Digging in deeper slightly until he injected the antidote. Carefully pulling the syringe back as Jack whispered softly,
"You alright?"
"A... little."
"This drug the doc's injected will help get rid of that gasping. But it's gonna put you to sleep."
"How long?"
"Predicting on the amount that was injected into you, I would say seven to ten hours," Bradson answered. Getting comfortable nods from all three of them. Bradson smiled. Taking a step back as he warned,
"It might be a little uncomfortable to watch Agent Bauer."
"It will be like watching a dog be put down?" Henry asked. Bradson nodded slowly before he answered,
"Yes sir,"
Henry nodded. Looking back at Melissa when the gasps suddenly fell silent.

Jack squeezed her hand gently. Biting back his tears. Watching as she almost seemed to fall into death. Not sleep. Her eyes fluttered shut slowly. Almost featherly even as her head fell lifelessly to her right. One last sigh escaping her before she fell into the deep sleep Bradson had informed them of. Bradson smiled weakly. Approaching the two men as Jack laid her hand down on the bed. Staring at Melissa as Bradson whispered,
"I would advise that you both leave and do other things in the building."
They both nodded slowly. Jack swallowed hard as he studied her face. Nodding his head again as Bradson added,
"I will contact you as soon as she starts to stir,"
"Nothing will happen while she is asleep?" Jack asked. Wanting to make sure she was going to be alright,
"I promise you Agent Bauer. She will be safe and she will live. She will simply be asleep for a small period of time. And when she wakes up. She will be absolutely fine. She will be groggy. But she will be fine."
Jack nodded. Bringing his hand away from Melissa's. Bringing it to her cheek. Lovingly caressing her as Henry took a step back. Bradson copying the same move. The two men watching as Jack leaned in and kissed her cheek softly. Staying close to her as he whispered,
"I'm sorry I couldn't there sooner... I'm so sorry,"
Henry shook his head. Knowing what could be done now during the hours she was asleep. Smiling sympathetically at Jack as he climbed off the bed. Running his hand tenderly down her arm before he turned and followed Henry as the left the morgue like clinic of CTU.

CTU - Los Angeles

The two men hadn't got far, once they had left the clinic, before Jack began to slow his pace. Coming steadily to a complete stop in a matter of seconds. He lowered his head slowly as his eyes flickered left and right. Scanning the floor as he fought off scenarios that played out in his mind. His own paranoia starting to get the better of him. Jack cleared his throat quietly as he raised his head. Turning round slowly as the scenes continued to play out in his mind. His heart began to pound in his chest. Keeping up a fear filled race as Henry stopped just a metre or so ahead of him. Turning round quickly. His eyes focused on Jack as he took a few steps forward. Watching as Jack's back faced Henry fully. Watching him still as Jack took a hesitant step forward. Stopping abruptly before he could come any closer to the door they had just walked out from.

Henry smiled sympathetically as he watched Jack battle his inner demons. Jack shook his head. Running both of his hands over the top of his head. Sliding them both slowly down the back of his neck. Waiting til he felt the curve, that connected neck to shoulder, before his arms became limp and hung by his sides. Staring at the door to the clinic. Considering the option to return to the room and stay with Melissa until she woke up. Henry shook his head as he stood closer to Jack. Staring at the back of the blonde's head as he asked,
"Are you alright Jack?"
Jack inhaled deeply. His shoulders rising as he took in the long breath. Falling as slowly as he released the built up air. Feeling more paranoia and hurt filling him as he answered,
"I can't believe what happened."
"In the clinic?"
"Everywhere... Here. England. On the plane,"
Henry shook his head slowly. Stepping closer to him as Jack added, with a whisper,
"And just now. I can't stop blaming myself for what's to happened to Mel and to Amy,"
"Do not place blame in the incorrect place,"
"I should have known better. I should have been the one who left for CTU yesterday," Jack continued. Almost seeming to ignore Henry's words.

Jack shook his head as Henry inched closer to him. Standing just a step in front of Jack. Taking a quick peek through the window. Catching a glimpse of Melissa on the bed in the room. Covered by the white bed sheet. Two patches stuck to her chest. Just beneath her shoulders. The wires hooked up to the heart monitor. Gradually beeping as her nose and mouth were covered by an oxygen mask. Jack took a step forward and became side by side with Henry. Following his gaze into the clinic room. Jack shook his head. Trembling even as he inhaled deeply. Shaking his head shortly before he released more built up air. Muttering gently,
"She shouldn't be in this state,"
Henry nodded slowly. Agreeing through a soft voice,
"Yes. I know,"
"I don't know how she's pushing through all of this,"
"Because there are people close to her heart who are in danger that require protection,"
"Yeah... I just hope she isn't going to fall after it's all over,"
"I am positive she will be absolutely fine,"
Jack nodded slowly. Taking a second step forward but stopped quickly. Watching Melissa still as an awkward silence filled the corridor the two remained stood within.

Henry folded his arms slowly. Turning his head slightly to his left. Looking upon Jack as he turned his head away. Staring at the wall that was on his side. Sighing shakily again as Henry moved closer to him once more. Asking quietly,
"Why don't you talk?"
"There's nothing to say. This is all my fault. I should have been more careful with everything that happened,"
"There is no possible way that you could have foreseen all of this,"
"After everything that happened with my first wife and my daughter. I should have been more careful,"
"Jack. Times have changed."
"Yeah. I've become slow."
"You are not slow."
"I am. I know I am. All of this wouldn't have happened if I'd been more careful,"
"The only people who we know is to blame are somewhere in this country. You need to start putting all this guilt and emotion into a search of their location,"
Jack shook his head. Side stepping to his right. Twisting his body round to bring his back onto Henry again. Walking away. Leaving Henry confused at the sudden behaviour.

He took a step forward after Jack. Shouting to him, before Jack could disappear into the corridor,
"Jack!"
His feet almost stuck to the floor beneath him. Almost staggering even, Jack stopped and turned round. Facing Henry as the older man asked,
"Where are you going?"
"I don't know,"
"Come with me to Mister Buchanan."
"And do what? Sit in a room. Wait til we get a phone call on either Mel or her parents? I can't just sit here and wait for something to happen,"
"So you would rather go and search for trouble?"
"Not trouble. Her parents,"
"My point exactly."
Jack shook his head. Growling quietly even as Henry took his chances and approached him. Standing by Jack as he asked,
"What would you do if you were to find them?"
Jack closed his eyes for a moment. Holding his breath in hope to keep his boiling rage locked inside. Opening his eyes as Henry questioned further,
"There is an almost complete certainty that her parents are being protected by bodyguards. Melissa's sister and her husband will be there who are almost as highly trained as you two are. And let us not forget the group of bounty hunters who are currently in search of you all."
Jack shook his head. Stepping away suddenly as he mumbled,
"I'll start there,"
Henry squinted his eyes. Watching as Jack took another step back before he turned and quickly made his exit. Leaving Henry dumbstruck in the corridor.

Bullpen, Comm Team, CTU - Los Angeles

Morris climbed out of his seat as soon as he spotted Henry stepping out from one of the corridors close by. Holding onto Amy's left hand. He leaned over and whispered,
"Henry's over there, look,"
"Mister Henry!" she soon corrected. Giggling as Morris smiled and corrected himself,
"Mister Henry's over there,"
"Hmm mm!"
Amy giggled and let go of Morris' hand. Rushing forward towards Henry as he smiled back at the little girl. Leaning over. Holding out his hands as Amy came closer to him. Holding out her own tiny hands as Henry scooped her up into his arms. Cradling her gently on his right arm. Wrapping his left arm around her as he made his way over to the increasing group in the bullpen.

Paul and Annabella appeared from behind a small station. Coming to stand by Morris. Annabella folded her arms. Looking more worried than before as she asked,
"How's Melissa doing?"
"Doctor Bradson discovered the tranquilliser that was injected into her. And it was also a double dose. He used another to get rid of the gasping. But it's put her to sleep,"
"What gasping?" Annabella asked. Henry stayed silent as he brought his eyes onto Paul. Nodding his head slowly as Paul explained,
"She was gasping all the way back here. Jack looked absoutely terrified,"
"How is Jack by the way? He must be upset as hell," Annabella commented,
"Where is he anyway?" Paul asked on top of her questioned. Henry shrugged his shoulders. Replying back quietly,
"I do not know of his location. He spoke. But he does appear to be in conflict with himself,"
"What's he said?" Paul asked. Starting to worry himself,
"He is blaming himself for all that has happened,"
"What!" Annabella whispered,
"How is this his fault? He's not the one to blame. No way in bloody hell is he the one to blame for any of this," Paul objected. Shaking his head before he spun round. Walking away from the group and approached Morris.

Amy turned her head to look at Annabella. Asking quietly,
"Is my daddy okay?"
"Your daddy's fine duck," Annabella soothed. Smiling at Amy still as she brought her eyes onto Henry. Asking quietly, "Want me to hold her while you go with Paul?"
Henry smiled and nodded. Thanking her quietly before he handed Amy over to Annabella. Kissing Amy's cheek lightly. Repeating the same kiss on Annabella's cheek. Whispering to Amy gently,
"I will be right back,"
Amy smiled and nodded. Giggling as she held onto the tee that Annabella wore. Watching the two still as Henry turned to Annabella and whispered,
"Thank you,"
Annabella smiled and nodded. Staying on the spot she stood on. Simply pivoting round and watching as the guys gathered round Morris' station.

Morris took up his seat once again. Leaning forward as soon as Paul and Henry came to stand together behind his station. Paul leaned over quickly but remained a good distance away from Morris as he asked,
"Can you bring the security feed inside CTU?"
"Sure mate. What you looking for?"
"Jack. See if you can find him on the cameras,"
"Not another? Has he gone missing?"
"No. He's just missing inside CTU,"
"That's pretty easy to do,"
"No shit," Paul replied sarcastically. Morris smirked. Shaking his head as he brought up a grid of eighteen screens. Each representing the main cameras in the building. Henry folded his arms. Looking over the small screens as Paul asked,
"Any idea where he might have gone to?"
"From his words, it appeared as though he was ready to gear up and go on his own search," Henry answered. Looking back at Paul as he faced Henry. Asking quietly,
"You're messing around right?"
"No. I am serious,"
"He's going to go and look for her parents on his own!?"
"He has a death wish all the time Jack does," Morris commented, hitting the keyboard rapidly with his fingertips. Bringing up another set of eighteen screens on the monitor on his left. Adding another grid of eighteen to the monitor on his right. Paul straightened his back as he and Henry looked down at a monitor each. Morris focusing on the monitor ahead of him. Running a program to scan and identify each headshot that came into view of the camera. Annabella looked back behind her after hearing the rattle of metallic steps. Smiling a little when she spotted Bill and Karen making their way down from his office and over to the group in the bullpen.

Karen stopped and stood by Annabella. Folding her arms as she watched Bill come over to the other men. Checking the screens that were lit up at Morris' station. Placing his hands on his hips. Taking in a short breath before Bill asked,
"What are you doing?"
"Jack's walked off." Paul answered, "We're trying to look for him now,"
"He's walked away from what? What happened at the hotel?"
"Jack found Mel cuffed and half naked to a bed in the hotel suite. Jason had injected her with some sort of drug. Twice from the sounds of things. She was gasping and disorientated."
"Has an antidote been used?"
"Yeah." Paul answered vaguely. Allowing Henry to describe better,
"He injected the other drug into her system. It got rid of the gasping almost immediately. But the tranquilliser was not fully destroyed,"
"So how is she now?" Bill asked,
"She is sleeping off the tranquilliser that was used,"
"So Jack's walked away?"
"He is blaming himself for what happened to both Melissa and Amy."
"I should have known,"
"You knew he'd do this?" Paul asked,
"Anything like this happens. Jack blames himself. It's natural to him,"
Henry shook his head. Sighing gently before he commented,
"Can see now why he and Melissa are drawn to each other."
"They both take blame when it's not their fault," Paul finished for him. Henry nodded slowly but Bill shook his head. Quickly getting back to their situation as he ordered,
"Morris hurry and find Jack. Before he decides to go and find her parents as one man army. The last thing we need is another kidnapping,"
Morris nodded. Straightening further as he dragged his chair closer to the desk. Starting a more accurate search as Chloe moved away from her station and came over to his. Bringing up another chair and helping him with the search as the group turned away.

Annabella sighed gently as she leaned over and placed Amy on her feet. Taking a hold of her right hand as she straightened her back. Smiling sweetly at Paul as he came over to stand beside her. Facing Henry as she asked,
"Have you found Jack?"
"Afraid not," Henry breathed out disappointedly. Smiling as he looked down briefly at Amy. Finding the little girl smiling and giggling. Having no clue over what was happening. Annabella shook her head. Asking quietly,
"So what are we going to do? We can't just sit here and wait for something to happen,"
"Interesting. Jack said the same words when I spoke to him earlier," Henry stated. Annabella shook her head. Commenting back, worriedly,
"That doesn't sound good,"
"I'll have security increased and the doors guarded," Karen announced as she walked away towards the nearest phone,
"I'll try and find him on the ground floor," Paul added. About to walk away when Bill began to plan out their ways,
"Henry can search the next floor. I'll have Tony check out the third floor. The last thing we need is Jack to go missing."
The group nodded. Quickly separating and making their way to where they needed to be.

Clinic, CTU - Los Angeles

Doctor Bradson stepped out of his office inside the clinic sector of CTU. Taking the small file he had with him. Opening the beige coloured cover. Tucking the top page of paper over the top of the folded. Keeping it back with the hand that held the folder. Checking the latest results of blood taken just shortly before the thirty minute mark. He nodded slowly. Lowering the sheet of paper again when one of the nurses monitoring Melissa rushed out of the room. Bradson raised his gaze away from the folder. Staring at the nurse as she panted in panic,
"There's a problem!"
Bradson shook his head. Handing the folder to the nurse as he rushed past her and back into the room.

A nurse stood by the bed stepped back as soon as she spotted Bradson running into the room. Rushing over to the bed. Looking down at Melissa as the nurse explained,
"She's started gasping again."
Bradson shook his head as he checked the monitor. Finding her the BPM to be normal. Nothing was spiking or even seemed worrying to him. The second nurse who had come to announce the problem followed and stood by Bradson's left side. Looking down at the bed as Bradson asked,
"Have you taken more blood?"
"No not yet."
"Take more blood. Take off the oxygen mask. Make sure there is nothing blocking her windpipe. Make sure she's alright. I'll go call Mike at the NHS,"
The nurses nodded quickly. One quickly moving to take off the mask as the other moved to take in a blood sample.

CTU - Los Angeles

Paul wandered through another corridor of the ground floor of CTU. Bringing the radio, he had been given by Bill, to his ear. Listening to Bill's voice crackle over the speaker,
"Paul. Do you copy?"
"Copy,"
"I've been given a call from the clinic,"
"About Mel?"
"Yeah. It looks as though there's a problem,"
"What kind of problem?"
"It sounds as though the drug might be taking over again,"
"The one Jason injected into her?"
"Yes."
"Is she alright?"
"We don't know. Bradson is calling an expert over at the NHS."
"Thank you Bill,"
Paul lowered the radio. Shaking his head as he came to a stop in the middle of the corridor. His mind had become muddled with thoughts and ideas of where Jack could be. But now, the fog cleared. Evaporating away and revealed an image he knew would be more likely than any of the others. He shook his head. Smiling as he whispered,
"Paul you twit,"
Laughing gently at himself, at his own idiotic mind, as he turned round and began to make his way back down the corridor he had just made his way down.

Clinic, CTU - Los Angeles

Bradson shook his head as he exited his office once more. Bringing his cell phone to his ear. Waiting for the call to be transferred as he made his way back to the room they were keeping Melissa in. Slowing down his pace as the nurses exited the room quickly. Looking slightly scared than usual. Bradson stopped. Keeping a hold of his phone as he muttered,
"I'll call you right back Mike,"
"Sure,"
"Thank you,"
"Jack Bauer is here," the nurse on the left quickly informed him. Bradson shook his head as he hung up on his phone. Stepping through the small space that the two nurses created for Bradson to walk through and meet up with Jack.

Jack quickly skipped into a sprint as soon a she heard the gasps coming from the bed close by. Rushing over to her side. Finding the oxygen mask off of her face. Resting close by one of the trays. The oxygen canister sealed. Jack shook his head as he took a seat on the edge of the bed. Taking a hold of Melissa's hands in his as she opened her eyes. Swallowing hard before he whispered,
"Hey."
She grunted quietly as she focused her eyes on Jack. Whimpering quietly as she watched him lean closer to her. Whispering to her again,
"What's wrong?"
She shook her head slowly. Gasping again as Jack studied her eyes. Hoping to see an answer in her eyes but she blinded him from his search. Closing her eyes quickly as she gasped again. Jack eased back. Shaking his head before he turned to look towards the door at the far end of the room. Watching Bradson rush inside. Followed by the two nurses that had escaped the room as soon as Jack had stepped inside.

Paul came into view of the transparent wall of the clinic as soon as Bradson came to a stand still by the bed. Facing Jack as Jack asked quickly,
"I thought this drug was going to work?"
"It should. I need to call back a friend of mine over at the NHS. He knows about the sleeper cell drug. He's finding out what he can."
"When are you calling him?"
"The nurses told me that you were here so I hung up,"
"Well go call him back!"
Bradson huffed. Quickly turning round and leaving the room to make the call. The nurses more comfortable with following Bradson. Leaving Jack alone with Melissa for a moment until Paul entered the room.

Jack shook his head as he continued to watch Melissa gasp and jerk. Listening to footsteps approaching him. Jack inhaled deeply. Raising his head a little higher as he spoke out loud,
"Paul?"
Paul stopped abruptly. Freezing as he asked,
"How could you tell?"
"Well, I walked away from Henry earlier. Figured the next person to come look for me would be you,"
Paul smirked and nodded. Feeling some relief fill him as he felt his figure starting to defrost. Allowing him to lift his feet from the floor and approach the bed himself. Standing by Jack's side as the two looked down at Melissa. Watching as she opened her eyes again. Gasping hard as she looked up at the two. Jack smiled weakly. Whispering quietly,
"Can you say anything?"
She shook her head slowly. Gasping again before she could attempt to say anything. Paul shook his head. Coming further forward. Taking a seat in the chair close by. Leaning forward as Melissa turned her head to her right. Gasping again as Paul whispered,
"C'mon kid. Get up and at em,"
Jack smiled as he watched her smile. Shaking her head before she gasped once more. Paul shook his head. Commenting softly as Melissa closed her eyes and turned her head away from him,
"This is torture,"
"If this is torture, then what is it for her?" Jack asked, glancing shortly at Paul. Getting a clear shot of the look Paul gave him back. The two smiled. Shaking their heads before they looked back at Melissa. Her eyes fluttered open quickly. Locking her eyes on Jack. Her lips parting slowly as she whispered,
"My chest... hurts,"
"I'll get Bradson," Paul whispered as he almost scrambled from his seat. Jack shook his head as he jumped off the bed. Leaning down closer to her. Keeping a hold of her hands with his left hand. Holding the side of her head with his right as he whispered,
"Try and take it easy. You're safe here,"
"I can't,"
"You can breathe. You're fine. It's the drug that's still in your system,"
She shook her head. Gasping again as they waited for Paul to return with Bradson.

Bradson was still on the phone by the time Paul had caught up and found him. Knocking loudly and quickly on the door to Bradson's office. Bradson jolted and spun round. His breath caught in a bubble in his lungs. Choking and coughing out the air trapped inside when he found Paul behind him. He cleared his throat quietly. Holding up his left hand to Paul. Paul nodded. Clenching his teeth in worry as he looked back down the corridor he had just come down. Seeing a small part of Jack through the little slot of glass he could see through. Looking back at Bradson after hearing him speak to his expert over the phone,
"So it's just three shots?... What about the first lot I gave her?... She'll be fine?... Alright... Alright... Thanks a lot Mike... Yeah I owe ya... Alright... Later,"
"You know what to do?"
"Yes. Go back to them and I will bring what's needed,"
"Thank you,"
Bradson nodded as he slipped his phone into his pocket. Heading out of the office. He turned to his right and made his way down to one of the laboratories as Paul made his way back to Jack.

Melissa opened her eyes again. Swallowing hard as he looked up at Jack. Staring at Jack still as she managed to fight back the gasps. Smiling weakly as Jack asked,
"You okay?"
She nodded slowly. Taking in a sharp breath through her nose. Exhaling through parted lips before she answered,
"Yeah. I'm okay,"
Jack smiled. Laughing shortly before he complimented,
"You sound better,"
"I'm starting to feel... a little better, thanks,"
"Tired still?"
"Yeah... But I'm not... too bad,"
Jack nodded slowly. Bringing her hand to his lips. Kissing her softly as Paul entered the room again. Leaving the door open as Jack turned his head to look back behind him. Smiling still as he watched Paul step inside. Jogging over to the two. Seeing the smile on Jack's face, Paul smiled as he asked,
"What's going on?"
Jack turned and looked down at Melissa. Hearing a gentle cough come from her. Melissa smiled. Shaking her head as she whispered,
"Nothing,"
"You're sounding better,"
"I'm starting to feel it... thanks,"
Paul smiled and nodded. Staring at her still as Melissa closed her eyes. Staying silent, staying still until Bradson entered the room.

Jack and Paul jumped at the footsteps that entered the room. Taking a step back away from the bed. Staying close to Bradson as he stood by the bed. Leaning over a little until Melissa opened her eyes. Gasping again suddenly. She closed her eyes. Cursing quietly in her mind. Jack shook his head. Taking a step closer to the bed as Bradson asked out loud,
"The gasping hasn't stopped?"
"It stopped for about a minute." Jack answered as he came round to the other side of the bed. Paul moving to stand at the bottom as they watched Bradson open up a second case. Retrieving a syringe. Twice the side of the others he had previously used. Jack held his breath at the mere sight of it. About to object to Bradson's idea when the doctor explained,
"I have spoken to a friend of mine over at the NHS. The expert who has come into contact with this drug called sleeper cell. This is the drug to get rid of the drug completely,"
"Including the effect of the tranquilliser?"
"Yes. Completely."
"When will she be able to get up and move about?"
"In an hour. Possibly two. Depending on quickly the drug works."
"But it will work?" Paul questioned, hoping he wasn't misinterpreting Bradson's words. Bradson smiled and nodded confidently,
"Yes. I promise this will work. It may take time. But it will definately work,"
Jack nodded slowly. Looking back down at Melissa as he muttered,
"Okay,"
Bradson smiled and nodded. Taking the 'okay' as a go ahead to give her the drug.

Paul folded his arms. Looking on as Bradson took a careful hold of her left arm. Turning it over so he could get a clear line up with the vein he could already see. Jack moved closer. Distracting her from the needle. He took a seat next to her. Holding her right arm as Melissa opened her eyes and looked up at Jack. Smiling weakly again as he asked,
"You wanna go talk after you're back on your feet?"
"Where's Amy?"
"She's with Annabella," Paul answered, "She's fine. Don't worry. We'll look after her until you two are ready to come back into the world."
They both smiled and thanked him before they looked back at each other again. Jack smiled as he brought his hand to her hair. Softly stroking it back as Melissa teased him softly,
"I know you're trying to distract me Jack,"
He smirked quickly. Nodding his head slowly before he whispered back to her,
"Well you've already been through enough the past twenty four hours. Think you deserve a break,"
"Think everyone deserves a break right now,"
Jack smiled and nodded. Chuckling quietly before he whispered,
"Guess you're right,"
"Done," Bradson announced kindly. Keeping a hold of the syringe as he stepped back. Melissa raised her head. Looking down at her elbow as Paul joked,
"Jeez. I thought you were going to pass out."
Melissa smiled. Laughing gently as she laid her head back down. Sighing shortly as she looked back up at Jack. Smiling still as she whispered to him,
"You'd better go and check on Amy and everyone else. Make sure we're not worrying anyone,"
Jack smiled. About to reply to her words but became cut off to the sound of the phone ringing in the room.

Bradson huffed as he turned round and made his way over to the wall where the phone was positioned. Paul twisted his upper half until he looked back behind him. Watching as Bradson answered,
"Clinic... Yes Mister Buchanan... Yes sir. They're all here... Yes sir of course,"
Bradson held the phone off the hook as he spun round on his left heel. Facing the trio in the room. Calling to them,
"Agent Bauer. Mister Buchanan would like to talk to you,"
Jack nodded. Squeezing Melissa's hand gently as he climbed off the bed. Turning and walking away to the phone. Allowing Paul to move back over to the bed and stand by Melissa. Resting his hand lightly on her shoulder. Watching as Jack took a hold of the phone. Answering quickly,
"Yeah Bill?... What?... What are they doing here?... Okay... Why Paul?... Alright... No, we'll be right there... Yeah she'll be fine... Alright... Bye,"
"What's going on?" Paul questioned as Jack hung up on the phone. Turning round to face the three now as he explained,
"LAPD is here. We have to go and meet them in the situation room with Bill,"
"Why? What's going on?"
"We're wanted on suspicion of kidnap and attempted murder,"

Situation Room, CTU - Los Angeles

Karen slowly took a seat at the table in the room. Looking down at the sheet of paper that was being slid towards her. Bill closed the door behind him as he stepped inside. His eyes briefly focused on the group of LAPD officers that occupied the room with them. Bill shook his head as he approached Karen. Staying by her side. Ignoring the sheet of paper for the time being. Looking amongst the group of officers in the room. Spotting only three female officers. The rest male. Bill shook his head. Placing his hands on his hips as he asked,
"It takes seven LAPD officers to bring in a sheet of paper?"
"This is a very serious situation Mister Buchanan." the leader of the pack answered. Bill shook his head. Scanning the heads of the group of officers in front of him. Karen raised the piece of paper closer to her eyes. Asking quietly,
"How is this legit?"
"What is it?" Bill asked,
"It's a warrant for Jack and Paul's arrest,"
Bill raised his head. Facing the officers again directly as he objected,
"This is ridiculous!"
"Mister Buchanan," the leader responded calmly. Hoping to explain the reason behind their visit and their number when Bill carried on with his objection,
"First you barge in demanding to see both agents. Then explain that you wish to speak to them about being suspects of kidnap and attempted murder! And now you show us a warrant for their arrests!"
"Mister Buchanan-"
"I suggest you leave this office. Now! These men are innocent-"
"Until proven guilty," the lead officer interrupted. Bill gritted his teeth behind his now sealed lips. About to raise his voice again when Karen beat him to it. Pushing the piece of paper away. Rising to her own two feet as she released her own objections,
"You cannot do this. These two agents have helped Melissa. How can these two men be the men responsible for kidnap and attempted murder? Jack Bauer is her husband! Paul Hancock is her mentor! These two men are two of the few people she knows she can trust. These men car and love her for crying out loud! They would not kidnap her. And they most certainly would not attempt to kill her! What good do they achieve from doing such an act!?"
Bill nodded his head in agreement. Watching as the lead officer nodded his head slowly but objected himself,
"That's your opinion Miss Hayes. We have been given orders,"
"Orders from who?"
"Our sergeants,"
The two shook their heads at the answer they were given. Only needing Jack and Paul to arrive before things could really kick off.

Jack shook his head as he and Paul grew closer to the situation room. Bewildered and angered over the new accusations in the game. Paul shook his head before he took a few jogging steps forward. Catching up with Jack. Walking alongside him. Keeping up Jack's pace as he thought out loud,
"Alright. We are being accused of kidnap. And attempted bloody murder. I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's her parents that are accusing us of doing this to Mel,"
"Probably. Her parents are starting to become predictable,"
"This has happened before?"
"Once,"
"LAPD?"
"One of the groups. You start to lose track,"
Paul smirked. Shaking his head as he and Jack appeared out of the corridor. Looking round the comm team. Seeing the worry in Chloe's eyes as she chewed nervously on the tip of her thumb. Worry filling the eyes of Henry and Annabella as they watched the two agents approach the door of the situation room and stepped inside.

The LAPD officers that were stood by the door, that suddenly opened behind them, quickly turned and backed away. The leader of their pack stepped in front. Confronting both Jack and Paul as his back up retrieved their guns. The safety on all handguns were maintained. Jack slowed his pace. Coming to a complete stop quickly as Paul staggered backwards a few steps. Hitting his back against the door as it closed behind them. Raising his hands slowly. Jack glanced back behind him as soon as he caught a glimpse of Paul's hesitant moves. He shook his head. Mumbling to him,
"Paul put your hands down,"
Paul smiled. Lowering his hands. Nodding his head quickly as Jack turned his head to Bill. Folding his arms as he asked,
"So. We've attempted to kill Melissa. After we kidnapped her first though?"
Bill shrugged his shoulders. About to answer when the leader intervened,
"Yes. You are both to come with us gentlemen,"
"Where's your manners?" Paul asked. The leader smirked. Shaking his head as the air in the room grew thicker with the tension that soared.

Bill stayed on his feet as he watched Jack step away from the group. Taking only a few steps before LAPD officers barked,
"Don't move!"
Paul shook his head. Following Jack as the two attempted to get round to Bill and Karen. Freezing again when the officers repeated, more threateningly,
"Don't move!"
Bill shook his head. Staring at Jack as he looked down at the table. His eyes scanning the piece of paper that laid on the desk. Seeing the charges written down on the paper. Both his and Paul’s names, descriptions and details at the top of the sheet. Jack's eyes continued to wander down the sheet. Seeing the name listed at the bottom of the page. He squinted his eyes suddenly. Raising his head and his eyes. Stiffening as Paul argued with the officers,
"Just because someone accuses us of something does not mean we did it!"
"Agent Ja-"
"Bauer," Paul interrupted. Correcting him quickly. The leading officer smirked. Nodding his head slowly and only once before he corrected himself,
"Agent Bauer, disappeared from England. Kidnap. First accusation,"
"Oh please," Paul huffed,
"The second accusation. Attempted murder. From what we were told by the witness, Agent Bauer, was severely assaulted,"
"By her own parents," Jack responded. Raising his gaze again til he focused on the leading officer that was listing the false accusations.

Bill shook his head. Huffing quietly as Karen took a seat at the table again. Briefly looking down at the piece of paper that Jack reached for. Holding it in both of his hands. Scanning the piece of paper closely now. He shook his head. Reading all of the texts and codes that were printed on the sheet. Never becoming distracted as Paul came round to look at the piece of paper himself. Jack took his eyes away from the sheet as the officer continued,
"Her parents reported to us of the first attempt,"
"The President personally dismissed those accusations," Karen argued,
"But we have had another call. The same accusations. The same sightings,"
"The same dates by any chance as well?" Jack asked, far from curious,
"Yes,"
Jack smirked. Almost laughing as he shook his head. Turning his head slightly to his left as Paul asked,
"Angelina Rio? She made the accusations?"
"Yes she did," The officer confirmed. Smiling at Paul but the look of humour on Jack's face told him something was wrong.

Jack released a laugh as he screwed up the piece of paper. Keeping it in his right hand. Still looking more amused than the terrified look that covered Karen's ace. Her hand shakily covered her lips. Staring at him as Jack asked,
"Anyone got a lighter?"
"Jack!" Paul whispered. Still in his own state of shock,
"C'mon. Someone must smoke here. I need to burn some trash,"
"Jack! Have you lost your mind!?" Bill cried out angrily,
"Don't you see it?" Jack asked turning his head to look at Bill. Bill shook his head. Beginning to pant as Karen lowered her hand. Covering her heart as she asked breathlessly,
"See what!?"
"This name of the woman who reported the sightings and crimes. The person who is making the accusations,"
"What about it!?"
"Angelina Rio is the name Mel uses for her undercover work! Her parents must have been getting more information on her than what was allowed,"
"Her parents made the call and used the false name," Paul stated. Jack nodded. Facing the lead officer of the LAPD group. Informing him quickly as Jack became his usual moody self once more,
"There are analysts who can bring up the intel. And back up what's been said. We are innocent. The only danger to Mel is people like you. And her parents."
The officer huffed. Shaking his head before he growled,
"We're leaving,"
Jack nodded slowly. Watching the group holster their weapons and leave the room and the building itself.

Paul smirked and shook his head. Clapping his hands three times before his arms fell. Hanging limply by his sides. Smirking still as he commented,
"Very nice Jack. For a second there I thought you'd lost your mind,"
"What would you have done if that name was actually genuine?" Karen asked. Still recovering from the shock that exploded inside of her during the mere seconds it took for Jack to screw up the lawful sheet of paper. Jack shook his head as he threw the paper ball away. Smirking as he replied,
"Something,"
"Well, we know you would have done something," Paul laughed as Jack stepped back. Stepping away from the table. Coming around Paul as he moved to leave the room. Taking a hold of the door handle. Turning back to look at Bill and Karen as they both moved to stand by Paul. Staring at Jack as Bill asked,
"Where are you going now?"
"Since it's getting closer to noon. I'm gonna go find my daughter and take her down to the cafeteria to get something to eat,"
The three nodded. Karen smiling and nodding her head again. Encouraging him, although she knew Jack wasn't going to need it,
"Get going,"
Jack nodded. Thanking her through an inaudible whisper as he turned away and left the room.

Bullpen, CTU - Los Angeles

Henry was still stood by Morris' station when they both heard Amy giggle out loud. Crying out giddily,
"Daddy!"
Jack smiled. Wiping his slightly sweat coated hands on his jeans quickly as Amy ran over to him. Her small arms held out in front of her. Giggling still as Jack crouched down. Scooping his tiny angel up into his arms. Rising up as he cradled Amy in his arms. Keeping her close to him. Smiling as Amy wrapped her arms around Jack's neck. Giggling as Jack covered Amy's cheek with soft kisses. Resting his head lightly against hers. He smiled and sighed happily. Whispering quietly to her,
"Hey baby!"
"Hay!"
Jack smiled. Chuckling quietly as he stared at her. Smiling still as he asked,
"You okay?"
"Hmm mm!"
"Good,"
"Daddy okay?"
"Daddy's fine," Jack whispered as he pulled his head away from hers. Smiling at her still as Amy giggled,
"Yay!"
His smile continued to grow as he kissed Amy's cheek softly. Holding her gently in his arms as he turned to look around for the others. Finding Henry making his way over to the two.

Amy smiled and giggled as she watched Henry smile and walk over to the two. Standing next to them as he greeted warmly,
"Hello Jack,"
Jack smiled and nodded. Juggling Amy a little in his arms as he greeted back,
"Hey,"
"What was the issue concerning the LAPD?"
"Mel's parents tried to report the same accusations by using a different name,"
"What name did they use?"
"Angelina Rio,"
"Angelina Rio? Now that name does ring a bell,"
"You've heard it before?"
"Yes. But only in mid conversation,"
"Is there anyone that her family knows that has that name?"
"No... How did you figure out it was her parents using the name?"
"Mel uses the name Angelina Rio for her undercover work."
"So her parents discovered this information and attempted to use it for their own purpose?"
"Looks like it,"
Henry huffed quietly. His entire body seeming to become saggy. Shaking his head at the newest attempt to get the family separated.

Jack sighed softly as he looked round the room. The entire room becoming quieter by the second. Becoming more silent than usual. He smiled again though as Amy whined,
"Daddy! I'm hungry!"
"Okay baby, okay. Wanna go down to the cafeteria and get something to eat?"
"Can mommy come too?"
"Mommy can't come jut yet,"
"Why not?"
"Cause-"
"Mommy can't come cause mommy's dead?"
"No! No, baby. No! She's not dead. Mommy's just resting. We can go see her soon. Okay?"
"After food?"
"Sure sweetie. After we've eaten something,"
Amy grinned and giggled. Clapping her hands as Jack smiled back at her. Kissing her cheek as he leaned over slowly. Setting Amy down gently on the floor. Her feet flat on the ground. Taking a hold of Jack's hand as he straightened his back. Facing Henry again as he asked,
"Want to join us Henry?"
"Yeah! Mister Henry!" Amy cheered as she reached for his fingers with her other hand. Shaking his hand gently. Henry smiled and looked down at Amy as he replied,
"How can I say no to a Princess?"
Amy grinned and giggled a second time. Starting to attempt to pull the two men with her as Henry looked back at Jack. Whispering to him,
"Thank you Jack,"
Jack smiled and nodded as the two men walked with Amy down to the cafeteria.

1 Hour Later...

Cafeteria, CTU - Los Angeles

The three that had set off down to the cafeteria had almost doubled after an hour had passed. The three were soon joined by Paul and Annabella. Catching a slightly late brunch. They joined the others at one of the larger tables in the room. Smiling as they found the three enjoying some fries and burgers. Annabella laughing gently herself as she watched Amy dunk chicken nuggets into a small tub of tomato sauce. Paul took a seat next to the guys. Allowing Annabella to sit with Amy. Helping her finish her lunch as the guys whispered and muttered between themselves.

Henry folded his arms as he eased back into his chair. Turning his head to his left. Gazing vaguely at Paul as he whispered to the two,
"There has got to be some way to spot them hacking into the systems,"
"I believe these firewalls should have been strong," Henry commented,
"They were," Jack answered, "But there's always a way around everything. Nothing is fully bullet proof,"
"What do we do now?" Paul asked quietly. Leaning over a little in his seat. Looking between the two as he whispered, "We're going to be hit by more accusations. I know we are. It's going to happen. We have nothing to use to track them down with. We're sitting ducks!"
Henry shook his head. Folding his arms as Jack stiffened in his seat. Inhaling deeply before he whispered,
"No. We might have something,"
The others quickly turned to face him. Watching as Jack quickly reached into his pocket. Taking out his cell phone. Flipping it open with a quick flick of his wrist as Paul asked,
"Who are you calling?"
Jack shook his head. Dialling a number quickly. Bringing the phone to his ear. Staring down at the slightly splattered table,
"Chloe it's Jack. I need you to do something for me,"
"What is it?"
"Can you get into LAPD's database and check up on the details of the warrant they just brought into CTU?"
"Sure. What are you looking for?"
"A phone number. Mel's parents had to have called from somewhere. See if you can trace it,"
"Okay. I'll do it now,"
"Thanks Chloe,"
"You believe Chloe will be able to track down her parents?" Henry questioned as Jack hung up on the call,
"If her parents had physically gone into LAPD with the accusations. Then they would have been arrested there. But since they called and used a different name."
"They must know that law enforcements are after them now," Paul finished. Getting an assertive nod from Jack before he whispered,
"Yeah,"
"So, really, we're kind of a step ahead,"
"How do you see that?" Henry asked, "Her parents still have the higher hand. They possibly know of our location. And they have more men. Excluding the bounty hunters that are now after both Jack and Melissa,"
"Bounty hunters won't go anywhere near a government agent,"
"I believe a few may just have the guts to do so,"
"This building is guarded by security officers. Officer's that protecting highly trained field agents."
"But who is to say that these bounty hunters are not more skilled than some agents here?"

Jack shook his head as the discussion that erupted from his side. Running his hand over his head as he squeezed his eyes shut. Releasing a short grunt of uneasiness before he opened his eyes. Resting his hand on his thigh as Annabella asked,
"Jack. How's Mel doing?"
"The doc found something to help her. It should be working right now if the timing's right,"
"The timing?"
"He said it could take about one or two hours to fully work,"
"It's been an hour now."
"Yeah. I know... Bradson said he'd call as soon as something happened,"
"Did he say if that something would be good or bad?"
Jack smirked. Nodding his head before he replied,
"You've got a point,"
Annabella smiled. Laughing gently as Jack answered,
"Can see where Mel gets that smart mouth of hers from."
"Henry wasn't the only one who took care of her," Paul sighed with a smile. Looking back at Henry as he smiled and nodded. Looking back at Jack as he whispered,
"She was raised by quite a few people, Jack,"
"Just not her own parents," Jack commented. Getting nods from all around the table. Their attentions taken away from the danger and brought back to the gift they'd been given as Amy giggled out loud again.
The group turned their heads and looked down at Amy as she quickly put in a full nugget into her tiny mouth. Jack smirked. Taking a hold of a napkin as he leaned closer to her. Gently getting rid of the sauce that was around her lips as he whispered,
"Take it easy baby. There's no rush,"
Amy nodded quickly as she took a hold of the napkin from his hand and wiped her mouth herself. Annabella smiled an laughed blissfully. Watching Amy still as the little girl reached for another nugget. Jack raised his eyes and focused on Annabella as she complimented,
"She certainly takes after her mother. She's the spitting image of Mel."
"She sure does," Jack whispered. Smiling still as Amy giggled at the faces that were watching her,
"It's as though Mel was cloned y'know, when you look at the two together," Paul commented. Getting a soft laugh from the guys. Jack smiled and nodded. Watching Amy again as she finished her lunch. Grabbing a hold of one of the other napkins that were left on the table. Wiping her mouth quickly as Annabella asked,
"So what's on the agenda for the afternoon then?"
"Gonna go see mommy!" Amy answered before Jack could even taken a breath. Annabella smiled as she asked,
"Going to go see mummy again?"
"Yeah!"
Jack smiled and nodded as soon as he noticed Annabella staring at him. Annabella smiled. Looking back down at Amy as Jack turned to look past Henry and direct his eyes onto Paul. Hearing him whisper across to him,
"Is she awake?"
"Have you heard somethin?" Jack asked, whispering back to him. Hoping Amy wouldn't hear them,
"I was just wondering since she was gasping and everything earlier,"
"That was part of the drug. She should be alright..." Jack trailed off quickly. Taking in a short breath as he reached into his pocket for his phone again. Muttering to them as he brought up the contact details of CTU's contacts, "I'll call Bradson. See what's going on,"
The two men nodded slowly. Smiling as they watched Amy and Annabella together.

Henry rose up and stood strong on his feet. Quickly gathering the rubbish that was scattered all over the table. Jack cleared his throat as his eyes flickered over the table before he looked up at Henry. Quickly whispering to him,
"Henry, it's alright. I'll handle this lot,"
"It is fine. Do not worry," Henry whispered back to him, "You handle that call. And I will handle this,"
Paul got to his feet after hearing the words that were spoken. Helping out with gathering the rubbish as Annabella helped clear things up with Amy. Making sure she wasn't covered in any of the sauce she'd been plummeting food into before she handed the rubbish to the guys. Getting Amy sorted out as Jack rose up in his seat,
"Doctor Bradson?... Yeah it's me... Is she alright?... What?... Is she awake now?... Alright... Yeah, we're coming down there now... Alright... Alright, thank you... Bye,"
"That didn't sound good," Annabella commented as she stared at Jack, "When did she fall asleep?"
"About ten minutes after me and Paul had left."
"Is she alright?"
"Yeah she's fine. She woke up a few minutes ago. Sounds like she's having something to eat,"
"Well there's a great sign!"
Jack smiled and nodded. Looking up at the guys who returned to the table. Nodding his head slowly as Paul asked,
"We're going to go over to the clinic?"
"Yeah. Bradson says Mel's up. And she's almost back to her normal self again,"
"Great!"
Jack nodded again. Getting to his feet as Annabella got up from her seat. Wrapping her arm around Paul's as Jack helped Amy get to her feet. Keeping a hold of her hand as the group made their way out of the cafeteria and began their walk over to the clinic.

Clinic, CTU - Los Angeles

Bradson returned to the room Melissa was sat inside of. Sat comfortably on the bed. Looking better than he had seen in a while. He reached into his pocket and brought out the small flashlight from his top pocket. Twisting the end of the device. Turning the light on and to full power. Melissa cleared her throat quietly as Bradson stopped by the side of the bed. Smiling as he spoke softly to her,
"I need to check your eyes,"
"I'm fine," she laughed quietly. Turning her head to face Bradson as she continued, "I feel great,"
"You were assaulted. Kidnapped. Drugged. Almost raped."
She shrugged her shoulders. Still smiling surprisingly. Much to Bradson's horror. He shook his head as he tested both eyes. Finding each of them functioning fine. Bradson shook his head as he turned off the flashlight. Folding his arms as he watched her. Melissa turned her head and looked down at the few pieces of fruit that were in front of her. Shaking his head again as she tossed one of the smaller green grapes into her mouth. Bradson sighed as he took a step back. Swapping equipment. Melissa looked to her left and sighed softly as Bradson approached her again. His ears plugged with small white buds. Her body shivering at the cold touch of the metallic disc pressing against her back. Melissa shook her head again. Picking up another grape before she whispered,
"Doc, I'm fine. Seriously. I feel great,"
He almost growled as he took off the piece of equipment. Leaving it on the side. Folding his arms again as he continued watch her.

Melissa shook her head as she looked back down at the last of the grapes. Blinking slowly. Inhaling deeply. Bradson unfolded his arms. Inching closer to her as he asked,
"What is it?"
She cleared her throat loudly. Shaking her head as she answered,
"Nothing,"
"Physically or mentally?"
"What?" Melissa asked, looking back at him,
"Listen to me Agent Bauer. You can't hide away." Bradson explained. Taking a seat on the bed. Minding her legs as he watched Melissa hide away again. Turning her head further away from his. Almost recoiling as Bradson leaned in closer to her. Whispering quietly, worriedly,
"No. I know that look. I have seen that look before,"
"With someone else?"
"No. It was you!"
"No. It wasn't,"
"Stop denying what happened to you and face it!"
"I'm not denying anything. I don't know what the bloody hell you're talking about!"
Bradson eased back as Melissa looked back at him. Staring at him as he continued to study her. Leaning forward only a centimetre as he whispered to her,
"That year you were raped!"
Melissa closed her eyes and jerked at the memory. Bringing her hands to her hair. Tugging at it gently as Bradson continued,
"I saw what you went through! And so did Agent Bauer! He sees you now. He will know what's goin on!"
"He won't see me like this,"
"Yes he will. He's coming here now,"
Melissa opened her eyes and lowered her hands. Staring at Bradson again as she asked,
"Why's he coming here?"
"What do you mean why? He is your husband!"
"I know that! I thought there'd be something going off,"
Bradson huffed. Folding his arms as he almost pouted at her. Hating the stubborn side of her that had come out from within her once again.

Melissa shuffled back up on the bed. Suddenly feeling tense. Bradson got up from the bed. Wishing he could smile with relief that it was all coming through again but knew better than to do such a thing. Whispering to her,
"Let it out. I know it's in your head right now. Don't let it torment you!"
"There's nothing in my head,"
"Yes there is! Come out of this denial! You are hurt!"
"I was tortured for days! I've been beaten and kidnapped. Yeah! I'd say I was hurt!"
"Mentally!"
"That too!"
Bradson huffed. Hanging his head. Needing some way to break through the wall she was starting to build up around her. Melissa raised her head higher. Exhaling shakily. Looking down at Bradson until he raised his head. His eyes locked with hers before Melissa could turn her head away. Her eyes frozen on his. Only turning her head away when Bradson hissed triumphantly,
"There it is! It's there! You're hiding!"
Melissa closed her eyes and turned her head away further. Trembling at the thoughts that filled her mind. Swallowing hard as she felt herself starting to panic. Opening her eyes again when the door to the clinic opened swiftly and loudly.

Paul shook his head. Chuckling gently as Annabella cursed,
"Noisy sod!"
Paul shook his head. Laughing quietly as the group walked into the room. Stepping back as Amy cried out,
"Mommy!"
Melissa smiled and relaxed immediately as she looked towards the open door. Cheering back to her,
"Hey!"
Amy smiled and giggled as she came over to the bed. Her arms already held out to her as Melissa leaned over and lifted her up into her arms. Kissing each of Amy's cheeks softly before she whispered,
"Hey baby!"
Amy smiled and giggled still as she wrapped her arms around Melissa's neck. Holding her tightly as Melissa wrapped her left arm round Amy. Keeping her close as her eyes caught a glimpse of Jack entering the room. Smiling when he found Melissa awake and looking fitter than she had done. He quickly made his way over to her. Smiling as he came to a stop by the bed. Bradson smiled and backed off. Not wanting to spoil the moment. Standing with the others as they watched the three. Amy still snuggling in Melissa's hold as Jack took a hold of her hand with his right hand. Cupping her cheek tenderly with his left hand as he leaned closer to her. The two briefly whispering,
"Hey,"
To each other before they met each other with a deep kiss. Holding each other tightly as they broke away. Panting slowly as Jack asked,
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah. I'm okay. How about you?"
"Yeah I'm alright."
Melissa nodded slowly. Turning to look at Amy as she asked,
"How about you baby? You okay?"
"Hmm mm!" Amy answered as she released Melissa from her hold and took a seat on the bed. Looking up at her parents as they turned to face each other again. Sharing another light kiss before the rest of the group made their way over to the bed.

Bradson bit back his objections for as long as he could. Watching the group greet and comfort Melissa again. Briefly explaining to her what had happened during the hours they had been apart from her. She couldn't believe what she'd heard. Even finding some amusement in the newest story they told her. Laughing at a few jokes and stories Paul made. Poking fun at her as the others joined in with the chuckles. Jack remained on his feet. His arms tightly folded as he raised his head. Meeting Bradson's worried gaze. He squinted his eyes for a moment. Watching as Bradson caught Jack's eyes. He ran his hand lightly across his lips. Nodding towards the door that the group had entered the room from. Jack nodded slowly. Looking down at Melissa as Bradson spoke out at last,
"If it would be alright with you all. I need some privacy with Agent Bauer. There are things to cover before I discharge her from this clinic,"
The group smiled and nodded. Relieved that Annabella managed to coax Amy into going with the group,
"Want to go get an ice cream Amy?"
Amy grinned and nodded. Quickly getting to her feet on the bed. She quickly turned round and faced Melissa. Kissing her cheek before she giggled,
"Bye mommy!"
"Bye baby,"
She gave Amy a quick kiss on her cheek. Smiling still as she watched Jack pick her up from the bed. Kissing her cheek softly before he whispered to Amy,
"Be a good girl,"
"I will!"
Jack smiled and nodded. Kissing her cheek again before he set Amy down on her feet. Running his hand softly over the top of her head. Watching as she ran off towards the three by the door. The two smiled as they waved goodbye to Amy. Watching her giddily leave the room to get a treat. Paul leaving the room last. Closing the door behind them before the real treatment began.

Jack turned to face Melissa. Looking serious as he stepped closer to her. Bradson quickly approached the bed as Jack whispered,
"You're holding back,"
"I'm not holding anything back, Jack!" Melissa defended,
"Yes you are. I can see it in your eyes!"
Melissa closed her eyes. Shakily sighing as Bradson tried to coax her into talking,
"When you had left the rehab centre for that rape, you were exactly in this state!"
"No I wasn't." Melissa mumbled as her head fell forward,
"Yes you were!"
"Please starting talking to us," Jack pleaded quietly as he took a seat on the bed. Taking a hold of her hand as he whispered, "That look in your eyes. I've seen it before. I didn't wanna see it again. Just please, start talking to us,"
Her eyes fluttered open slowly as Bradson whispered to her,
"The only reason you are sayin that you are holding nothing back. Is because you can't feel it,"
"About time you caught on!" She almost snapped as she kept her head down,
"I don't mean it like that!"
"You're numb!" Jack whispered, leaning closer to her. He swallowed hard at the jerk he felt echo out from her heart. Hearing a whimper as Melissa turned her head away. Inhaling deeply as Jack caressed her fingers. Whispering to her again,
"The state I saw you in when I got to that hotel room. Something must have happened. And we need to know what it was exactly so we can help you get through this again,"
"I didn't want to go through this again," she whispered. Her voice crumbling as the numbness began to heal,
"I know you didn't." Jack whispered softly still. Closer to her now as he whispered, "I'm so sorry I couldn't find you sooner,"
"Don't start blaming yourself for this. It's my fault,"
"No it's not!"
"Then whose fault is it? If I say it's not your fault. And you say it's not my fault!"
"It was Jason's fault," Bradson answered. Looking between the two as Jack faced him and Melissa raised her head. Sighing heavily as she whispered,
"... No. I should have known better,"
"You said the same thing about what happened with Dresden,"
"And the same thing happened with Jason,"
"He actually raped you?"
"No. Before he injected that drug. He didn't do anything."
"What about after?"
"I don't know... I can't remember what happened,"
"Just try and remember something. Anything at all,"

Melissa shook her head. Closing her eyes as the two men waited for some sort of answer from her. Watching her intently as she whispered,
"No. I can't remember what happened. All I remember is..."
She paused suddenly. Opening her eyes. Turning to look at Jack as she whispered,
"Your voice."
"You knew I was there?" Jack asked as he watched her nod her head,
"I can remember everything going black. Then I opened my eyes again. And there was Jason,"
"Can you remember any feelings?" Bradson questioned, "Anything at all?"
"I don't know... I just felt numb,"
"Could you feel him?"
She closed her eyes momentarily. Holding her breath. Holding back the nausea that erupted inside of her. Opening her eyes again as she answered breathlessly,
"No. I was dressed. But then my shirt disappeared. I could feel something cold against my chest,"
"You were naked from the waist up when I found you," Jack told her. Seeing the effect it had on her as he watched her eyes widen. Her voice low. Barely heard as she breathed out,
"Oh my God!"
"Did he rape you?"
"No... No. I don't think so... I can't remember. Everything kept going black,"
"Did he stay in your sight?" Bradson asked, taking over the interrogation,
"Yeah. He did,"
"Was he dressed?"
"The last time I saw him he had... he had trousers on. But that's it,"
"What happened when he got you onto the bed?"
Melissa shook her head. Trying to remember what happened. Staring down at her knees. Shaking her head before she described,
"I can remember him injecting whatever it was into me. Then after a few minutes. He picked me up. And he put me down on the bed. I guess. It went black. I don't know for how long. But then I felt my arms above my head,"
"He cuffed your hand to headboard," Jack answered for her before she could even ask the question. She nodded slowly. Taking in a breath but quickly forced herself to stop. Breaking down quickly as she covered her head with her arms. Sobbing to them both,
"No, I can't do this! I can't!"
Bradson backed away. Shaking his head as he watched Jack move in. Wrapping his arms around her protectingly. Kissing her hair softly. Keeping his head against hers as he whispered,
"It's alright. It's alright. You're safe here,"
He swallowed hard. Closing his eyes as he felt Melissa's arms wrap around his torso. Pressing her head harder against his shoulder. Crying harder as she fought to speak,
"I can't do this anymore,"
"Just give it some time. We can talk about it when you're ready. But we need to know if he forced himself onto you."
"Did he manage a penetration?" Bradson asked as he stepped forward. Freezing at the cringe he watched Melissa make. Ducking deeper beneath Jack's embrace. Jack held her firmly. Whispering softly,
"Easy. It's alright,"
"Did he?" Bradson repeated,
"No. He didn't,"
The two men smiled. Almost laughing with relief. Bradson backed off. Grateful that they had been given the one piece of information that was the most important of all. He left the room silently but quickly.

Jack smiled and opened his eyes. Blinking quickly as his own tears built in his eyes. Keeping her close to him as he whispered,
"I'm so sorry. I'm so, so sorry baby,"
Melissa shook her head. Clearing her throat quietly as she opened her eyes. Pulling her head back. Gently parting Jack's arms from around her. Turning her head towards his as Jack tilted his head towards her. Their eyes focused on each other as they remained hostages in the other's embrace. Already panting gently at the emotion that swept over them. Jack shook his head. Closing his eyes as he heard her whisper to him,
"You've nothing to be sorry for Jack,"
"I was meant to protect you."
"And you still are. Nothing's changed. We're all here still,"
"Thank God," Jack laughed gently. Melissa smiled and laughed with him. Kissing away a tear that dribbled down his cheek. Keeping him in her arms as she whispered,
"I love you,"
Jack smiled as he opened his eyes. Staring into her eyes as he whispered back to her,
"I love you,"
She smiled, laughing still as they drew even closer. Their lips briefly meeting in a tender kiss before Bradson entered the room again. Ending the short moment of paradise. And bringing them back to the hell they'd been in just seconds ago as he muttered to the two,
"We're gonna need to know what happened exactly whilst you were with him,"
