I've heard conflicting accounts...I heard the original MGS was used for previews but then I heard they used TTS. Can anyone enlighten me? Is there any trailer or anything out there showing clips from the first game so I know which version to use? |

TTS is NOT canon. MGS1 is the canon game. It is used in flashbacks in MGS2, and probably will be used in MGS4. TTS will definitely NOT be used, as it is not canonic. |

MGS2 predates TTS I believe. I've heard they use MGS1 for flashbacks in MGS4 previews but I haven't seen this. That's why I'm asking. |

Twin Snakes is just a remake of MGS1. So really it's not canonic. It doesn't matter which came first of MGS2 or TTS. |

The Twin Snakes is nothing more than a remake. The major parts like the storyline, the characters, the timeline were taken from the original MGS and The Silicon Knights (MGS:TTS production unit) changed the gameplay giving it a more 'MGS2 style', the graphics, the music, the demo direction and altered a little bit the codec sequences. |

They definitely WON'T use TTS flashbacks. MGS1 is a MGS game, TTS isn't. It's nothing more than a pathetic remake of a masterpiece. |

Learn what canon is... Anyone who says Twin Snakes or the Original isn't cannon is an idiot. But I like to have this hanging over your heads: Naomi looses her accent in Twin Snakes as she appears to have lost it in MGS4. That's cannon enough for me, seeing as everyone's nitpicking stupid things, why can't I? |

cannon means "true" or "real", and i couldn't agree more! Naomi has no accent in TTS and no accent in MGS4. i think they prefer TTS then perhaps? i dunno. |

the original and twin snakes have the exact same storyline and characters so therefore to say it isnt canon is quite foolish. |

Agreed. What the hell does an accent have to do with how a story progresses?! |

Things differ in TTS, which are not suited to character personality. It isn't canon. |

Naomi lost her accent because Kris Zimmerman chose to direct Jennifer Hale to drop it, nothing to do with the story or Naomi's character; it was a choice by the voice directer and the voice actor. Zimmerman wasn't the only voice director on MGS, but she was for MGS 3, TTS and MGS4 (not sure if she worked on Sons of Liberty). Twin Snakes is not canon for the simple reason that Kojima didn't work on it. The only canon games are:
TTS however is not canon because Kojima did not actively work on it as he was far too busy working on SE. TTS is merely a different directors take on Metal Gear Solid, said director was a big name in Japanese action cinema, resulting in over the top (but far more entertaining) action scenes. |

Im so tired of people bitching about how "TTS sucks". I enjoyed it more than the PSX version. Call me a noob or how i am a 0% real metal gear fan or w/e. The black and white is this; if youve played either game you get the same story. It doesnt matter if TTS was tweaked for the then current gen system or if somethig as trivial as naomi's accent was changed. In no way did TTS "ruin the original masterpiece." give me a fucking break. o btw TTS is technically canon. But since kojima is sticking with the PS3 this time around he is gonna plug the PSX version in with the flashbacks. |

Ugh... Things were different in TTS. Snake never jumped on a missile, he never flipped, stamped on his PSG-1, grabbed it, span and shot Wolf. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. TTS is non-canon. This isn't about preference, anyway. |

If Snake would have did all of the above stuff, there would be no bitching whatsoever, so its really a pointless thing that comes down to an individuals opinion. If you say someone else's opinion doesn't matter just because you consider MGS1 to be more canonic, that's really quite arrogant and stupid. And this is coming from a guy who MUCH prefers MGS1 over TTS, not for the above reasons, but simply because the voice over wasn't as good and the game was too easy with the MGS2 type gameplay. |

I wouldn't flat out say that it wasn't canon, because it's the same story and there are only small details changed (see above). Obviously I'd pick the original over which I considered more canonical, if that makes sense. I expect KP consider the original as the actual story and TTS as more of a Hollywoodesque remake. @Heli: Doesn't it say 'Produced by Hideo Kojima' over the front? |

Yeah, all the games have Kojima as Executive Producer, but as far as I know Kojima didn't work on TTS in this role, I think he only gave his approval, Ryuhei Kitamura (the bloke who wrote the cutscenes) put his name on the cover as a sign of respect. Although I suppose Kojima did still technically write the script, as it's almost identical to the original, with a few superficial dialogue changes. |
