i hear about people who think that pliskin was genuine, but i saw through his disguise instantly, and the fact you see him on the elevator. who else saw through this and what do you guys think? |

it confused me at first as well - you gotta love hideo for this stuff. But there aint much of a disguise. For me, I knew it the moment I heard him yell at Raiden to "Get down!" as Vamp was about to cut him. I really do wish Vamp could have sliced that dudes head off and we'd play as snake the rest of the game but o well

I had just seen Escape From New York (literally days before I played MGS 2) so I was completely taken in by it. I unfortunately chose the option at the start where you begin on the Plant, so I didn't know about the Tanker and when I saw Pliskin I thought "Who the fuck is that?" (ironically this was the same reaction I had to Raiden as well), due to the bump in graphics I didn't really connect Snake to him since I was used to seeing Snake with no discernible facial features. However I did think Snake was there (because we see him in the elevator) but I thought he was Mr X (because of the Deepthroat reference). |

Dont you have to complete the game once before u can chose which chapter you wanted to play on? As for me i went with the same reason Adamska mentioned. When Snake said "Get Down" i was like YAY SNAKE! |

Nah, on the first playthrough it asked questions (but it had only one option "First Time") like "Are you good at xxxx" and for some foolish reason I answered that I hadn't finished MGS and I wasn't good at stealth games, so I got the Plant. |

I thought it was Snake when I first saw him. My impression when I first saw Pliskin was that the player was suppose to instantly know it was Snake but it was suppose to only mislead Raiden. If I remember correctly I believe when Raiden asks him his name he goes, "My name is S... Pliskin." or something of that manner, plus the entrence on the elevator. And all the Seals were trying to locate the president yet Pliskin was sneaking around instead, not with the rest of the Seals. I liked Pliskin, despite also being Snake, guess he was my favorite "disguise". |

honestly i couldnt tell it was him, after playing MGS2 again half a decade later i couldnt understand how i didnt. i did have my suspicion obviously. but pliskins face doesnt look exactly like snakes (yes i know theyre the same person) , i think they made it that way so it wasnt too obvious. |

I kept trying to remember, "Snake is in the Plant, Snake is in the Plant!" But I forgot instantly after that. When I saw Snake disguised, I actually wondered if it were him, I wasn't so sure. At the time, I was actually new to the MGS series (except for a short Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes demo.) When he took off his disguise, only then did it come clear to me. |

It was pretty obvious to me. He looked and talked exactly like Solid Snake. There was no questioning for me about weither he'd be Snake. Possible MGS2 spoilers ..apart from topic starter telling who Pliskin is  Spoiler: click to toggle

Whether you realise it is him depends on circumstance. For me, I knew instantly, due to the fact that I had played Metal Gear Solid countless times, and therefore his voice was extremely familiar to me. Also, the fact that I played the Tanker Chapter first allowed me to recognise Snake in the updated Playstation 2 graphics. However, there have been people who do not realise, mainly because they play the Plant Chapter first. I believe that Kojima intended for him to be easily recognisable, as, in my opinion, he was attempting to fool Raiden, not the gaming audience. Once you hear that voice, there is no mistaking who he is. And the visual disguise was hardly elaborate. |

I knew right away... so many give aways. -voice and look, thats easy. -when vamp said, "you smell like s..." -when he said, "my name s....pliskin" -when he said, "That suit, are you FOXHOUND" -when he said, "the kid's wired with nanomachines" also once you call him on codec when he's sleeping, he mumbles ...Meryl... and then yells out ....LIQUID! zzzzzzzz. Come on now, did Pliskin need to smack you face with a Ration! lol! |

The only difference i noticed was the lack of bandana on Plisken. That wasn't enough to fool me. |

I knew when I first saw and heard him, that it was Snake. Then again Hideo was trying to trick me, so I believed that it wasn't Snake. Hideo fooled me big time I guess. |
