After you defeat the metal gears, how come Rose keeps taunting Raiden and saying mean things "everything you fought for was a lie HAHAHAHAHA". But then at the very end, she returns to being all sweet and Raiden ignores the way she was acting before like it never happened. That really confused me. Edit: aww damnit. I made tihs thread right after the end, while the credits were rolling. I tried to pause it by pressing start but al it did was end the cutscene :(. now i have to do tihs over again argh Edited by DrunkPanda, Jul 8 2008, 06:51 PM.

Have you watched all the codecs and cutscenes? I suppose not. At the end where you fight Solidus Snake and where she and Campbell are talking to Raiden, it's not actually them but it's the Patriots AI. Later on when Raiden actually meets her, it's the real Rose. |

Yea the Rose and the Campbell that you know throughout the game is the patriots AI "GW" or George Washington. The Campbell and Rose in the early part of the game may be them though. |

Actually, from the beginning of the game, campbell is an AI and rose is real. But then when you are naked in arsenal right before you get your clothes, rose calls you and confesses that she is a spy and whatnot then the connection cuts. After that rose is an AI. |

GW created mirrored versions of Campbell and Rose to screw with Raiden once you get to Arsenal Gear. at the end of the game in the video you see Raiden and rose talk to each other and you can see she is real

The 'Rose' and 'Colonel' with which Raiden talks through the whole mission are personas created by his own subconscious, its explained by Otacon before the fight against the Arsenal Tengus on Arsenal Gear. Using the nanomachines in Rainden's blood and his neural network, they projected their instructions through the image Raiden had about the Colonel (since he knew all too well the Shadow Moses Incident) and of course his girlfriend Rose who apparently worked as a military analyst. The Rose you see at the end is the real person who was never involved on the mission, however she was really pregnant apparently. I just finished the game a few minutes ago, so this whole thing is still fresh on my mind. |

The Colonel was fake but Rose was the real thing up until she is captured by the Patriots. Octacon tells Raiden that the Colonel was just a result of his nanomachines and self expectations of the mission formed into some form of consciousness. Raiden questions whether Rose is real or not, but Snake tells him not to jump to conclusions. Rose was really cut off from transmission and she was originally a spy for the Patriots to appeal to Raiden's personality and general likes. But she started to abandon her role as she reveals it to him and begins operation outside her jurisdiction, so the Patriots tells Raiden that she is wired the same way as Olga's child, and if he dies or his nanomachines are cut off, their termination would be executed. The other Rose is part of the same A.I. program that is in the guise of the Colonel, so essentially, their the same thing. The original Colonel A.I. got malformed due to the virus messing with GW's A.I. system, which I assume was under the regulation of the Patriots from the start. Once Raiden defeated Solidus and completed his mission, Rose was let go and Raiden finally remembered what she asked him, about what day it was. |
