Spoiler: click to toggle TDK is definitely the movie of the summer, no other movie this year (except Cloverfield, but that wasn't released in Summer) has come close to TDK allround (meaning there may be better films in certain areas, but not in general and even then I'll argue the shit out of it). |

i don't think Two Face is gone for good...with Ledger dying and everything, it would be hard to bring the Joker back. I'm hoping they bring back Eckhart in the third installment |

The Dark Knight was brilliant! Heath Ledgers performance was spectacular, and I have to agree with you he did outdo Nicholson. There are many twists and turns in the movie, and is a MUST see. If you haven't seen it already you must do so now.... I think there is going to be a sequel. I hope so. |

with how much monety they've made? They surpassed Star Wars III and Spiderman 3 in opening day box office totals. They expect it to surpass Spiderman 3's opening weekend total too. I believe it.

It did surpass Spiderman 3's opening weekend. But just the way it ended, that's what I meant.

I remember reading that Michael Caine was signed on for three movies, so I think there will definitely be another by Nolan. Furthermore I predict that the 3rd film will be styled along the lines of Knightfall and will deal with Bruce passing on the Batman mantle (as hinted by Harvey in TDK). |

You know, I actually never thought of that. It would be awesome if the next one was like Knightfall. I'd love to see Bane done properly, too. |

Wow all I can say is WOW. I just got back from seeing it with three of my friends and I think its safe to say the Joker was the real star of the show. This IS the best superhero movie ever and probably the best movie of this year. |

There is no reason to rule out Joker just because Ledger died. Many said Nicholson's Joker couldn't be surpassed, yet Ledger did a hell of a lot better job. The same goes for this Joker. Besides, if that article is correct, they were already planning another actor to continue the role before Ledger died. Saying that recasting should be avoided out of respect to the late Ledger is just plain stupid, IMO. I'd choose Adrien Brody to continue the part. They could refer to his slightly altered appearance by having Batman visit him in Arkham and the Joker joking: "if you're wondering why I look like this, just take a look at what passes as food here. HAHAHA!". I mean, Brody's not a bad looking guy, but just really, really skinny. I think he could carry on the role without copying Ledger's mannerisms and instead honoring it by expanding the Joker's character. Since Mr. J is locked up now, Brody could draw some sort of inspiration from Hopkins' Lecter and, of course, the comics. It's common for Batman to visit the Joker while in custody as he often schemes even while in a padded cell. And let's not forget the best villainess ever: Harley Quinn. She might sound too zany, but I believe Nolan could pull even her off just like he did the Joker. She could be used as a device for the Joker escaping Arkham. I'm guessing either Catwoman, Talia al Ghul or some other female Bat-character will show up for the third one to fill the gap Rachel left. Nolan & Co. have been noted to say they want to avoid characters that have been already used in movies, making Talia more probable. Then again, the Ra's al Ghul of this continuity differs considerably from his comic counterpart: the one alive is just a substitute and not the real one. Catwoman has been used before, but their love/hate relationship offers a great chance to bring the trilogy to an end. Also, Fox's comment about the new armor sounds like foreshadowing. The main villain is a tricky one. Joker's the nemesis of Batman, so it's hard to surpass him. Then again, Batman Returns was almost better than the first, so it's not impossible. They should avoid the Penguin and Riddler, which have been rumoured. Hush might fit in to the atmosphere. Also, after the Joker, he's one of the most psychologically challenging adversaries Batman has faced (he shares a history with Wayne and knows he's Batman). Futhermore, the end of the "Hush" storyline offers a great chance to redeem Harvey Dent, assuming he's still alive. I'm guessing he is. Batman has a strict rule about not killing (especially Dent whom he respected a lot) and I don't think Gordon, a devoted cop, would have allowed Batman to leave after killing someone (even Two-Face), without unmasking him. The memorial could have been a simple ruse as Dent could not return to his duties as a DA. Eckhardt, I understand, signed up for the third one before working on TDK. - So, is it true? Was Big Boss really your father? - That's what he said. That's all I know. - And you were able to kill him, knowing that? - Yup. - How? - He wanted it. Besides, some people just need killing... No, wait..scratch that. ..This is good, isn't it? | |
