For the Heath Ledger fans: he out did Jack Nicholson in the role of Joker. He took the role to new levels beyond any Joker to date also. You must see the movie to understand what I’m talking about.

Dark Knight is the Darkest Batman you will see. You can compare it to any Batman you want cartoon or pervious movies it does not come close. Batman breaks his number one rule in this film. No not his identity but choosing who lives or dies.

Major Spoilers:
1. Joker does not die in the film. Batman decides to let the Joker live. Very good fight sequence between Batman and The Joker. He was arrested and jailed for the final time by SWAT/COPS. This is the best Joker out there. (See the Movie)

2. Rachel Dawes dies in the film. Batman had to make a choice Harvey Dent or Rachel Dawes. Before Joker was captured and arrested for the first time. Joker’s men captured Harvey and Rachel. Both were sent to different locations in Gotham and different buildings. They both were tied down and had some serious explosives around them. Batman had only enough time to save one of them. Batman chooses Harvey Dent (lead prosecutor) because he did not want to be Batman anymore because the whole Batman gig was costing too many lives and he wanted to be with Rachel. Commissioner Gordon and his cop’s went after Rachel but failed to get there in time. (See the Movie)

3. Harvey Dent = Two-Face. Batman saves Harvey but part of his face got badly burned when the building exploded when both were escaping. He turns into Two-Face in the hospital. The Joker toys with Harvey’s mind and Harvey wants revenge for the death of Rachel. So Two-Face joins the Joker. He kills some people and then captures Gordon’s family after finding out Commissioner Gordon failed to save Rachel. Two-Face does die in the film. Batman kills him in order to save Gordon’s family. Batman went after where The Joker said Rachel was, but the Joker had lied to him and told him where Harvey Dent was... That's why he was so shocked to have opened the door to that warehouse only to see that it was Harvey and not Rachel. At least, that's what I thought happened.

That is correct but I also want to save the suspence in that entire sequence. So I dubed down some of my points. The idea of my post is for people go out and watch this great film.

Two-Face died? hump i thought he just got knocked out.

That fall was high to say the least. Harvey went back first when he hit the ground. Harvey had no armor and Batman did. Batman's armor would atleast soak up some of that fall but not all. They also had a funeral/remembering for Harvey Dent if you remember.

I agree with this topic as a whole. it was honestly one of the best movies of the summer.

I stayed after the credits thinking Two-Face was still alive. I honestly don't think he's dead. Yeah they had a funeral for him, but he was Gotham's hero. I believe he somehow made it.

Meh, in Hollywood (or perhaps more importantly, comic books) no-one is dead until we see a body and even then it's not concrete.

I highly doubt Two Face/Harvey Dent is dead. It was originally planned that Two Face woulden't come into prominence till the third film, where the Joker disfigures him himself. Somewhere along the way that changed and they probably did decide to kill off Two Face but then when Ledger died I think they changed it, because theres no way they are going to recast Joker in the next film, leading it to be popular opinion that Two Face and perhaps the Riddler (one major clue is left in the film) will be focused on in the next film.

The Dark Knight may still be months away, but planning for a third Batman movie is already happening, somewhere deep in the Warner Bros. lair. Tonight, in a flurry of superhero related messages between me and a long time scooper and friend of the site, we uncovered some of the details about where exactly Batman goes next, after he’s finished with the Joker in Dark Knight.

Make no mistake by the way, Joker really is out of the picture after this movie, at least according to our source. We’re told that the Joker indeed was supposed to be back for another film, and that they did consider simply recasting the part for the inevitable Batman 3, but that those plans have been scrapped after the tragedy of Heath Ledger’s death. Joker has been written out of the Batman 3 script.

Instead, our scooper tells us we’ll get a lot more Two-Face. No surprise there. Anyone who’s seen the recent trailer for The Dark Knight knows the current movie will be dealing with the creation of Batman’s scarred, coin-flipping bad guy. It looks like Batman 3 will continue with his story. We couldn’t get specific details from our source, but she says the third film will be referencing the Batman graphic novels “The Long Halloween” and “Dark Victory”.

“The Long Halloween” seems to deal with a lot of the plot elements we’ll see in The Dark Knight. According to Wikipedia, it involves the Joker, and the creation of Two-Face. More importantly, it involves the evolution of the gang of criminals Batman fights into full fledged supervillains. “Dark Victory” is a sequel to “The Long Halloween”, in the same way Batman 3 will likely be a direct sequel to The Dark Knight. “Dark Victory” continues the story of “The Long Halloween” and seems primarily focused on Two-Face, while introducing Batman’s sidekick Robin. Does that mean we’ll get the return of the boy wonder in Batman 3? If the story follows along this same track, it could.

For any of this complex storytelling to work, they’re going to need director Christopher Nolan. From what our source tell us, he’ll be back for Batman 3… but only Batman 3. Whether the series goes on from there is anybody’s guess, but all indications are that no matter what happens Nolan quits the world of Batman after the third one, and moves on to something else.

Didn't Harvey's coin land 'lucky side' up next to him as his body fell? Surely that would suggest that Nulls thoughts on the character are correct, he didn't die, just got a little KO.

The reason Harvey's change to Two-Face was included in TDK was because the producers needed an emotional aspect added to the film that they just couldn't get with the Joker. Also, for the third, I truly hope that they do not recast the Joker. That would be a shame towards Ledger, who did an astounding performance, in my opinion. Most likely, they will have new villains in the film.

Recently, I read an article that seems very plausible. It was debating who the villains could be. It listed Talia al Ghul, the beautiful daughter of Ras (who would fill in the female role now that Rachel is dead), who falls in love with Batman/Bruce. They could have her leading a new League of Shadows, set out to finish what Ras started, ending Gotham. The second villain could be Edward Nygma, The Riddler. He is nearly Batman's intellectual equal. After the events of TDK, where Batsy is on the run, it's plausible that Gotham gets the Riddler to track Batman, and learn his identity, but he has an agenda of his own.

Either way, I believe that villains wouldn't be too hard to find. Batman's rogue's gallery is rather vast. I mean, they could include Clayface (provided they use the emotional story line for him introduced in Batman the Animated Series). Catwoman would also be a good villain (albeit not a standalone). She's a thief, whom a love relationship forms between her and the caped crusader. The Penguin also could be included. There isn't much of an emotional aspect to him, but he is a rather crafty villain.

I personally hope to see more of Two-Face. One thing that TDK lacked, in my opinion, was the great brotherly friendship between Bruce and Harvey. They were best friends, turned against one another, due to Harvey's mental breakdown, and him splitting into two people. A third movie could expand on that in detail. We never got a true confirmation that Harvey died in TDK. Everyone just assumes he did. It's plausible that they covered up his death, and Gordon transferred him discreetly to a secure area of Arkham to try and rehabilitate him.
