Well anyway I started play Metal Gear (the series) last March when the Essential Collection was released. I have thoroughly enjoyed each game and played them all multiple times. Would it be a waste of money to buy a used copy of Subsistence for Disc 2's features? |

I have the Essential Collection version as well, and I was extremely Disheartened when I found out that the original Subsistence had the original Metal Gear, and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. Lets just say that I contemplated buying it. |

If you like playing old school stealth games and want to expand your MGS collection, sure it's worth it. There's not really other ways to get the original games. I wouldn't say that they're essential though (which is propably why they weren't in the ESSENTIAL collection  )

well it has many extra's! even though online isnt up anymore.. and if your european or australian your lucky because u will get the 3rd disk also existance (as someone already said) plus the 1st disk is better ,,3rd angle camera(makes it so much better to explore an makes the ameplay amazing!), different cutscenes, etc |

sure get substance if u want  -has loads of vr -snake tails which is missions of snake (unrelated to story) doing missions through the plant an tanker -euro substance has snake skateboarding i think thats it but yeh thats the rough idea |

I would get Substance just for The Document disc but those other extra's are good too. You should get them both whenever you get a chance. Though because of the recent release of MGS4 these games will cost you., if you find them in good condition. |

Yes, Subsistence copies went way up after Guns of the Patriots was released. I was going to get it for all of the extras until then. You have to ask yourself if it's worth it to you, ultimately. To me, it's not, at the moment.

The Essential Collection Version is basically Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater...considering it does not have Disk 2, which is what made up Subsistence, besides some new camo I believe. Get MGS3: Subsistence if you want hilarious parodies, and want to play the full versions of Metal Gear, and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, if only ONLINE still worked...The introduction to that disk, (The MGO Introduction) was the greatest introduction I've seen in my life. |

Ill do one better. Ill sell you the whole game. PM me and hopefully we can work something out. so i take it the essential collection was just snake eater? I thought about buying it at wal-mart, but then i realized i was going to pay 30 bucks just for mgs1 and i passed. I would get it if it had the 3d camera in mgs3 but otherwise eh. anyways, to answer the original post...subsistence is worth buying only if you really need the 3d camera. Otherwise dont bother. duel is meh, snake vs monkey is just plain retarded (they say more maps but its only like...3) and the secret theater gets old fast and isnt very funny with few exceptions. It's mostly slapstick humor that anyone past the age of 13 stops laughing at rather quickly. sorry if i sound bitter, I just really miss online |
