LES ENFANTS TERRIBLES question; Big Boss' (aka Naked Snake) origin

Greetings, fellow METAL GEAR aficionados!

I have a question.

But first, let me state that I have been a fan of METAL GEAR since the release of METAL GEAR SOLID on the Playstation in 1998. I clearly recall being in BEST BUY, and my attention being snared by a demo of the game that was playing on one of the wall monitors. I was hooked within moments. I bought the game, raced home, set the disc/s in my PS console .... and remained glued to my television -- and this is no exaggeration -- for the next 17 - 20 hours! I soaked up every CODEC conversation; explored every nook and cranny at SHADOW MOSES research facility; I gasped; I jumped; I laughed; I wept; and in general was swept utterly away by the heady atmosphere of the METAL GEAR world and the plight of its kooky, mad, heroic, and ultimately tragic characters.

When, two years later, I learned that a sequel was being made, I could barely contain my enthusiasm. The countdown to November 2001 was -- as many of you on this forum can no doubt attest -- excruciating. And quite nearly drove me mad.

Like many fans of MGS, when I finally got my hands on METAL GEAR SOLID 2: Sons of Liberty, I was at first dumbfounded, then downright angry, that Snake was not the main character. I need not go into great detail here about Raiden; most of us experienced the same sense of betrayal and utter disbelief when this particular aspect of MGS2 -- namely, Raiden's presence as the MAIN character -- revealed itself.

Subsequent playings of the game, however, enamored me to it. Moreover, it made me appreciate and embrace the true genius of Kojima's vision. Hence, I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt, and trust there was a method in his ostensible madness.

I wasn't disappointed.

Upon the release of METAL GEAR SOLID 3: Snake Eater, my willingness to trust Kojima-san payed off in spades. The backstory he created for his game was monumental, and again I was sucked in and mesmerized by the intrigues of his dark, shifting, mysterious world -- and all the quirky and wounded characters that inhabited it.

And so here were are again, nearly four years later -- our eyes aflame with enthusiastic glee, waiting desperately to meet SOLID SNAKE one final time, take his hand, and follow him to whatever dark places he leads us. Even if it's to "the bitter end."

I'm grateful that a board like this exists. Most of my friends are not METAL GEAR fans, so I have nobody to bounce ideas off of in this respect. A forum such as this is a godsend, and I'm excited at the prospect of what I may learn here.

So I want to say a resounding thanks in advance, guys (and girls).

Thanks for this forum. Thanks for the dialog. And, most importantly, thanks for being fellow METAL GEAR fans.

Now to my question --

When the DNA of Big Boss (aka Jack, aka Naked Snake) is used in the LES ENFANTS TERRIBLES project to clone the other "Snakes," are the clones actually harvested and grown? Like in the MATRIX films? Or was a woman -- or women -- artificially inseminated with Big Boss' seed?

I never quite understood this part of Solid Snake's origin background.

If this question has already been posed on the forum, I do apologize. I am brand new, and haven't perused through the various threads.

Any illumination that can be shed on this point would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, and about your question, yes the cloning thing was placed in a woman, and there are theories now that say that woman was EVA, so it's like EVA is the snakes' mom. hope that answered your question :)

''Heard about the guy who fell off a skyscraper? On his way down past each floor, he kept saying to reassure himself: So far so good... so far so good... so far so good.
How you fall doesn't matter.
It's how you land!''

probably not a good idea to ask plot related questions when you havent even played all the games yet. the only possible answers to this thread would be a spoiler to something else
MGO: MAVERICK

yeah, they touch base with this part of Snakes origin in MGS4 for a bit. So its best not to ask until you play it, or ask someone to pm you the spoilers

There's some grounds to thaose theories- take a look as Liquid Snake's hair in the MGS1 artwork, or the instruction booklet. Then, take a look at EVA's hair... They are remarkably similar.
Your failure is complete, you stupid ass-bastards.
