Outer Heaven.We'll need one soon.

Well I stumbled on to Metal Gear by accident. My mom and her boyfriend took me and his daughter Melany to a flea market and they had a game store in it.And I wanted a ps1 so i got one but i didnt have any games so i went to my cousins house and i was there watching tv and asked him.Hey do you have any ps1 games i can have since i dont have none. And he took me to his room and gave me the only one he had which turned out to be Metal Gear Solid brand new in the case with the protective plastic still on it.After that me and her went home and played the crap out of it and beat it.And i have been a huge fan ever since.

This Tastes...HORRIBLE!!! Hungry for Some Snake?

When I came here from Europe, I was spending the night at my cousins house, and noticed that he had quite a few PS1 games, and a PS1 of course, and the Metal Gear Solid cover seemed to stand out the most, (I mean, a white background, with shiny red letters...come on...seemed legit at the time, and still is :) ) anyways, I played it, and I started at the end with Liquid chasing you in the Hummer or whatever, and I owned, and basically, I found the game after like 3 years at a garage sale WITH VR MISSIONS!!! for like less than 10 bucks, and I was like, "HYELLS YEA!!!" and I got it, came home, and enjoyed awesomeness. VR Missions was a blast, I had 99.9% finished, but I couldn't get one mission done, the one where you need to get the soldier to follow you, step on a claymore, and blow up a glass panel so you can get to the finishing point, hardest mission I've ever played in my life, and of course, it was snowing, (Hm? who's footprints are these...). Great times.

My dad got it for me on Christmas, which is weird because my dad didn't like me playing video games and I never even asked for any video games from "Santa" let alone I never even heard of Metal Gear Solid before then, but on Christmas my dad handed it to me and thought nothing of it, I think he bought it because it said "Tactical Espinouge Action" above MGS, but when I first started playing it I thought it was great graphics for the PS1 but I never could get onto the Elevator for the longest time but once I found The Arms Tech President I was hooked!

I borrowed a copy *ahem* from one of my work mates when i was 16 or 17, after one night playing the game i went and bought the original the very next day. I still have that copy though it's a bit worse for wear, I later bought the MGS / VR missions double boxset, it still has pride of place on my games rack, even though it doesn't fit properly! Along with Final Fantasy 7 they are the only 2 PS1 games i still keep there.

I got mine in a very weird way to say the least. One of my parents friends came over with MGS1 because they knew i had a PS1 for my birtday that year, and someone had given them a copy of this game and my parents friend really wanted to play it. About half a day later around 7-ish, i get a shout: "Will you come and help me take down the helicopter?". And well, i was 7 but even though i did know what he was rambling on about at the time, i managed to take down the Hind D (which he still to this day, hasn't done :P ). So he then passed the game onto me, and i still have it to this day.

A friend of mine brought round a demo from the Playstation Magazine and said that I had to play this game. I think you were allowed to play until you got to the DARPA Chief, I'm not 100% on that.

Bring it, sucka

I've been told to play the game several times and have finally found myself in the company of someone who actually owns it. I'm going through it for the first time right now actually.

I like it, but it drives me insane. Lots of cursing and hissy fits. Stealth kills are not my forte, it seems.

64K Ram. 38911 Basic Bytes Free. Ready.

I played it in 2000. My sister in law had it and told me to check it out. I didn't think it was my cup and hardly played games aside from 1-2 racing games and GTA 1-2 which was the only reason I owned a PS1. but after playing through MGS, I was very impressed with the characters and the execution of the story. I couldn't believe this videogame was better than anything Hollywood could produce.

Eventually my PS1 wore out. When MGS2 Sons Of Liberty came out I felt obliged to check it out so I got a PS2 right away. SOL was my favorite game for a year while I played it over and over again, and then got the Substance reissue as well. I replaced my PS2 with a PS2 Slim sometime during the first few months of Snake Eater. And eventually I grabbed Subsistence a year later. I played MGO online until the day it died and bought a PSP to play Portable Ops online.

I bought a PSP only to play MGS related, which I had a hard time finding a Portable Ops UMD for months. I finally found it not too long before MPO+ came out and then carried on with PLUS only.

At any rate, I got a PS2, replaced the PS2, and got a PSP all in the name of Metal Gear Solid. I considored buying a Gamecube to play Twin Snakes, but that game goes for a pretty penny on Ebay. I will be buying a PS3 eventually when I have time to invest into and am ready to play MGS4. I will be buying the machine to play Guns of the Patriots first and foremost.

MPO/MPO+: D-FENS
MGO: JACKHOLE
MGO2: (n/a)

Oh I'll never forget the day. Ps2 was in its first year of sales and I was nowhere near getting one. I still had n64 but I went to walmart on boxing day and got myself a psone. Funny side note- when I opened the psone my immediate reaction was "where the fuck is the rest of it". Yea I know. So that same day I went to blockbuster to buy my very first game, and if you've ever been to blockbuster you know they keep their games in a glass case where you can only see the front of the game. So for my first choice based on nothing but what the box looked like I picked Final fantasy 7. I took it home and within 15 minutes I realized that I was in no fuckin mood for an RPG. A lesson learned. I went right back to blockbuster and returned it but was offered and exchange. I made my way back to the games case and began searching, and thais when I saw it, it had a white case and was by this time a playstations greatest hit. I simply looked at the game and read "tactical espionage action" and I think I was sold. I took it home and reveled in what was the greatest game I had ever played in my life. And that's my story. And by the way I did end up returning to RPGs "Legend of Dragoon" and "FF8" became my favourite

I got the demo from the official PSX magazine a while before it came out, and loved it. I knew straight away It was going to be my favourite game, and it didn't disappoint. That was way back in early 1999, and It's been my favourite series ever since!!

My dad borrowed around 10 games from his friend and one of them was Metal Gear Solid 3.

I was interested in the other ones so I looked on google.

PlayStation Demo Disc (#8, I think). Later, I hit up my friend for the full game. Borrowed it for about nine months. God, I love that game.

You've Been DC'd.

I became a big fan of the stealth-action genre when I played the FUCK out of a game called Tenchu: Stealth Assassins. (Great game, by the way.) I suscribed to a few gaming magazines at that time and I was following the progress of a highly-anticipated game called Metal Gear Solid.

I counted down the days to it's release and I bought it as soon as it came out. I got a notebook with the MGS logo on the front of it... it was small and the front/back cover were made from a sheet-metal type material. I also bought a Psycho Mantis figure...

Greatest gaming experience of my life.

I'm surprised at the amount of people that didn't know about it before it came out...
