Quick question on total playtime for MGS3 Sunbstinence going through the main game not looking for everything and mainly going through on Normal to hear and see the story. Picking it up for the first time and curious. I'm 6 hours into MGS2 as well. Same question for MGS2.

Thanks folks!

Light Saber trumps anything

Depending on how fast you can actually get from cut scene to cut scene can greatly vary. If you aren't picking anything up and looking around it can still take 10 hours. But if its your first time I would guess it could take up to 20. If you fight the end he will probably take you at least a half hour or better. The pain can suck up your time as well. I would plan on at least a 16 hour play through since its your first.

As for mgs2, I am not sure.

I tend to have a pretty high play time, because I do things pretty meticulously. I don't get bored of the whole, sneaking around thing, and I take my time to get past enemies. Some people I know get bored, take a few shots, fight their way out, and get through the game quick.

But I find things out, for instance Eva's little... conversation, things, by playing thoroughly. So unless I deliberately rush through, my play time's pretty high.

MGS3, though... I'd say at least 20 hours, though I did play it very on-and-off.

MGS4 is my highest by far, alot of stuff to find out; emblems to get, statues to find.

When I irst played MGS3 it took me 16 hours. Mostly due to getting used to the camera and new controls and camo and all that. :)

I loved the new camo system, saved me so many deaths!
I'm pretty sure that without the camo system my play time would be at least 10 hours longer...

My first MGS3 completion took around 22 hours or something like that. I know I enjoyed it immensely, took in every cutscene and call on the radio, self initiated or not. And then there was just the fooling around with the gameplay. I really loved the battle with the End, took me 30-40 mins and it was great fun. Now 55 seconds, and only feel frustrated when he doesn't behave as I wish him to. :P

Don't rush your first completion, it's there to be savoured and enjoyed to it's fullest extent. Don't worry about alerts, speed, deaths, just relax with one of the greatest games ever.

As for MGS2, I was only 11 or 12 when I first completed this and have no idea what my final time was. I'd ESTIMATE it'd be slightly less than MGS3, as the Plant's layout left it quite clear where you should be going if you wanted to just get along without too many detours. More cutscenes for MGS2, or so it seems, and therefore much watching as well as playing.

This Tastes...HORRIBLE!!! Hungry for Some Snake?

The first time I played Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, it took about 15 hours, I didn't watch EVERY cut-scene, but I did watch most of them. I recommend you do the same, it sucks you into the story more, as well as searching for guns, killing everyone in the designated area, etc.
