"Not enough Substance"
Metal Gear Solid 4 is the last in the series for Solid Snake and it should be his finest outing but instead it throws him to the side of the road like an old rag.
The story is really hard to follow, if you are not a follower of the previous metal gear solid games, you have no chance of knowing what is going on. If you have then you will find the story start snowballing into one huge mess that is supposed to tie up all the loose ends. All it does is create more questions then answers.
The graphics are okay, most of the levels the texture on the walls look like mud, switching from SDTV to HDTV only makes a slight difference. Snake hair has unrealistic movements and his mustache does not flow like his hair does. The enemies all look the same and the textures have been reused all over the place. It okay for a PS3 game. Most faces and hands look like wax models and crab hands.
The guns are bullet effects on the walls are not that good either, the sky is really well done though so props for the developers for getting that right.
The gameplay suffers because of the bad camera angle and clunky controls. You will have difficulty controlling snake and sometimes when you are crawling he will get up and you will be seen. The AI is really bad and no improvements over the 2nd metal gear solid game. The guns are too weak and take abnormal amount of bullets to kill enemies. Every time you try to roll out of the way snake has a back spasm leaving you stunned for 3 seconds.
Snake controls like a rigid corpse and it can be a pain in firefights with enemies, the boss fights also suffer from this.
The voice acting is okay, it's the only thing that saves the game. But some of the voice actors seem like they don't want to be there or their check hadn't cleared from konima yet. Davey Hater sounds okay but nothing like in the previous games. The gun effects and kung fu kicks sound off and too loud.
It is only good if you want to play it again to get some items or you want to see the mess of a story again. The online game is broken and shouldn't be played till they fix its issues. My verdict is the only one that counts and is:
Rent at bet.

"It okay for a PS3 game."
Proof that it was written by an 360 fanboy.

It was just a tomfolourous hoodwink, good sir!
It'd have been nice if you'd provided a source but nevermind.
This is getting a lock anyway because we don't need a new topic for MGS4 reviews from every Tom, Dick or Harry that's had a lobotomy.
To Gary, RIP friend.
