In my opinion, this game should replace MGS1 in all aspects, obviously both have their pro's and cons, but.... Pro's - > MGS2 graphics, seeing the short haired younger snake in decent graphics and not some polygon square head. > Exciting cutscenes that show a little more of WHY he is so highly regarded in terms of combat skill, not just good old espionage/infiltration ability. > Seeing all other characters in better graphical form, especially Liquid, cos he is that damn bad ass. > The game title fits in with the rest of the series, as they all have a subtitle; Sons of Libery, Snake Eater, Guns of the Patriots, and now Twin Snakes, which is especially a fitting subtitle to that story. Cons - > The addition of MGS2 controls did make it a little too easy. > The voice acting in certain parts wasn't as good as the original, a good example of this is the Liquid rant at the end of the game on top of Rex, the original voice overs had more passion from Cam Clarke. > Hardly any extras, no easter eggs etc. > A couple of quality lines were taken from the original script. All in all, the pro's outweigh the cons, especially with the voice overs. Because if you do it like I do, which is to play Twin Snakes instead of MGS1 when you are doing the whole series in order, it doesn't take long for you to forget the voice over differences and start to accept the new ones as the norm. It's a great re make. Edited by vlad06, Jun 23 2008, 03:09 PM.

I partially agree, I don't like the cutscenes but the characters having faces is nice. However, you can't just "replace" a game like Metal Gear Solid, most fans will agree that the PlayStation original is far superior. |

Yea course it does, TS does the exact same thing though, with more appealing visuals. |

There's no soul, they've got rid of the gritty, dark, nasty visuals which were one of the original's many trademarks, and replaced them with nice, polished surfaces, in other words, when I play The Twin Snakes, I don't get the feeling that Shadow Moses is a horrible place to be, it just looks like any other enemy base. The VA is horrible, I've said it before, you can tell they're just reading off a sheet of paper, which kinda defeats the purpose of acting, they were trying way too hard to make it sound better than the original, and in turn, it just ended up sounding like crap. First person view!? Stupid idea, dude on YouTube beat Ocelot in 9 seconds on Extreme, and the entire game in little over an hour. The whole thing is just a cheap rip off, I like it for what it is, but I don't see it as a proper Metal Gear game, I think of it as Metal Gear for people who can't quite handle Metal Gear. |

I love the PS1 original, no doubt. But despite the so-called bad voice acting (I really didn't gauge much difference other than the removal of Naomi's, Mei Ling's, and Nastasha's accents), I like Twin Snakes more. The gameplay is superb and the graphics are top-notch (excluding MGS4, I mean). What more can a gamer ask for? |

I agree with vlad, tts is a much better game. It took the original (which I grew up playing) and polished it up. Seriously though who honestly sits there and beats off to the voice acting? Its still an awesome game, the first person veiw is in every other mgs game so why are people complaining about that? And if you can beat bosses in two seconds than arent you something special, show it on youtube and than stop playing tts. Some people enjoy the game. |

i haven,t played it yet[should i get it?]but i wouldn,t think of TS and the orginal as opposites, rather like TS is a celebration, the same way going back to SM in mgs4 was. |
| Wanna know how i got these scars? My father was...a drinker. And a fiend. And one night he goes off crazier than usual.Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn't like that.Not.One.Bit.So,me watching,he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it.Turns to me and he says"Why so serious?"Comes at me with the knife,"Why so serious?"He sticks the blade in my mouth,"Lets put a smile on that face!"And.....Why so serious? | |

If you find a copy, by all means get it, it's a MUST HAVE for any collector, and it's an excellent game for a fan of the series, but like I said, I think the acting is crap, which is half of Metal Gear, fun to play nonetheless. |
