@ ScarSnake, Griffin and Forrest? Fuck yeah that'd be an excellent fight; I'd pay to see any guy knock himself out ![]() @ Solid Snake8, I'm sure Bas would have some 'leg kick' commentary of his own as well. After all, he was one of the best at it. It's what he used to finish his last opponent, in fact. @ Executioner, so you don't think Forrest beat 'Page by at least 2 points in the second round? That alone would earn him a draw even if 'Page did win three rounds. I'm not a big Griffin fan or anything, but from bell to bell round two was total domination. 'Page did absolutely nothing but lay on his back after receiving a couple leg kicks. Also, the wobbling was mainly because of the nasty punching power 'Page has. In the first round Forrest got rocked, but after that I don't think he got rocked again. Of course he admitted every punch was extremely hard, but I think a lot of what looked like wobbling was just him being knocked back or knocked off balance a lot of times. 'Page has serious power, but he didn't land much of anything on the chin, so he didn't really rock him much. I think that attempted triangle by Forrest was a lot closer than you may have thought. If Forrest would've grabbed Rampage's leg just a second sooner for a better grip it could've easily been nighty night for 'Page. Forrest has pretty long legs, and that triangle was locked up tight. 'Page definitely looked soft, though, and I noticed he only had a single leg taped up. Judging from the way he was moving around the octagon I think that leg may have been a little hurt going into the fight. I'd like to see 'Page versus Machida. If 'Page doesn't work hard on defending leg kicks Machida will really destroy him. |

Yeah, it could have been a 10-8 round (2nd) It was a real close fight that could've gone either way...you can make cases for both winning. |

I agree totally, but since that round should've indeed been considered 10-8, even if one of us was a judge and awarded 'Page three rounds and only two to Forrest, that would still make the fight a draw. This is how I look at it: 'Page rocked Forrest in the first round, and probably got the nod in that round, but before the round is over Forrest has already battered Rampage's leg, which you see at the very beginning of the second round when Forrest lands one leg kick and 'Page is unable to hide the pain. That was within 20 seconds of the round. From that point on, Forrest was on top in half guard, passed to side control and eventually mount, and landed some GNP. 10-8 for Griffin, if not 10-7. It was totally one-sided literally from the start of the round until the end of it. At this point I didn't even think 'Page would be able to continue much longer because of how badly his leg was damaged, but he's got as much heart as anybody. The third round was a real close one. I gave 'Page the nod in the fourth. In both rounds Forrest effectively used his leg kicks and 'Page landed some shots, but I'd say 'Page was more damaged and was in more trouble than Forrest through out the course of the fight due totally to his leg. The fifth round was clearly Forrest's, IMO. Bottom line, it was indeed a very close fight, and yes, it could've gone either way. I'd say they were both doing their best to finish the fight, but I think Forrest did more damage and was in better shape through out the course of the fight. Therefore, I personally believe he won the fight (though some of the judges' scores were fucking ridiculous). Edited by Webbie, Jul 9 2008, 10:38 PM.

True.. well either way, it was a great fight and I give Forrest credit for winning. I don't see Rampage getting an immediate rematch. For some reason, I think Forrest will defend his belt against Chuck Liddell..provided Chuck gets past Rashad Evans of course (which I think will be a really tough fight for him). |

yeah i think its gonna be a tough fight for him too cause Evans almost beat Ortiz.. but Liddell stopped Ortiz twice.. but Evans i think is more talented then Ortiz is. i look forward to it |

For one, regardless of how much hate Tito gets, Rashad is not more talented. Tito won that fight. If it weren't for the one point deduction he would've won cleanly. I think he should've won either way. I don't think Rashad's much of a test for a guy like Chuck. The only thing Rashad will bring to the fight is takedown attempt after takedown attempt, and Chuck has done more than enough to prove that is takedown defense is superb. He'll stop the takedowns and probably get a TKO at some point. Don't get me wrong, though... I'd fucking LOVE to see Chuck get his ass kicked. Rashad trains with GSP, by the way. |

really? thats pretty cool. I want Liddell to win no doubt, and i think he will but Evans has great takedowns and ground and pound him and Ortiz have a similar style. Its going to be great to see him and Liddell battle it out. Evans is gonna have to stay away from stand up if he wants to win. |

Only a couple days away from UFC Fight Night 14 and Affliction: Banned. I'm starting to realize how much more excited I am for the Affliction card as opposed to the UFC card. I haven't been more interested in a non-UFC fight card since PRIDE 33. Anderson Silva's a beast, but even he takes a backseat to a Fedor fight. Fedor by first round armbar. Arlovski > Rothwell. Barnett > Rizzo. Silva by first round TKO. Vera by first round TKO. Edgar by UD. I forgot to mention that Antonio Rogerio Nogueira's opponent has been announced (it was announced a week or so ago actually). He's fighting Edwin Dewees, which puzzles me because Rogerio's a pretty good sized 205-pounder whereas I never recall seeing Dewees bigger than 185. I think Little Nog will take this one with little problems. Also, Fedor's brother Aleks over Buentello by first round TKO. Edit: Jay Glazer is a FUCKING idiot. I'm watching the previews of Affliction: Banned and it's showing footage of yesterdays weigh-ins and press conference. Jay Glazer is on the mic talking about Fedor, and he's saying "we've never seen him hurt; we've never really seen a chink in his armor". That alone tells you he knows squat about MMA. Any MMA fan who is a MMA fan knows about his fight with Fujita. He got rocked and nearly KO'ed. It was the closest he's ever come to losing (his one loss really isn't a loss), but yet, it was possibly his greatest showing of heart in any of his fights. He basically withstood being pretty near unconscious on his feet and still came back to rock Fujita and lock on a choke. BTW, Aleks is out and it looks like Gary Goodridge will take his place. Affliction was totally awesome. We got to see Fedor beat the shite out of Sylvia for 36 seconds which is always fun, Arlovski tooled Rothwell, Silva KTFO of Irvin and Vera looked extremely unimpressive. All of these results were expected, though. Oh and Frankie totally controlled Franca for 3 rounds as he generally does. |

Yeah, man, Affliction turned out to be a way better show overall. Mike Pyle, Little Nog, Hominick, Barnett, Arlovski and Fedor all put on a show in their fights. Of course Anderson Silva dominated Irvin as was expected as well. I actually predicted both the first round TKO for Silva and the first round submission for Fedor. I can't wait for UFC 87. I can hardly believe it's less than a week away. There's some crazy wars on that card. |
