MGS1 - Big Boss (?) MGS2 - Big Boss MGS3 - Fox Hound MGS4 - Big Boss MPO - Tsuchinoko I'm not positive about the best rank on MGS1 due to not having played it in several years, but I believe it's Big Boss. If you know otherwise, tell me and I'll fix it if I can. So which rank do you consider to be the most difficult to achieve between all of the games? Also, what all ranks have you achieved in the past? At the moment I haven't achieved any of them (though I plan to this weekend on MGS4), but from everything that I've heard I'm under the impression that the MGS2 BB is probably the most difficult of all, but I really don't know from experience. It seems to me like it would be much harder than any of the other games, though. Your thoughts/opinions/experiences? |

I'd go with MGS3, it took me almost a year to finally get it, whereas I got Big Boss on MGS4 in under ten playthroughs, MGS is just plain easy on any difficulty level, and MGS2 is just a case of memorising guards routes and locations. |

I just try my hardest on whatever difficulty i choose. It gets frustrating trying to get a specific rank on an insane difficulty level. I just play the game as it comes. |

As far as I can remember, MGS3 is. MGS4 was quite easy...they should've lowered the time needed for the emblem down to 3 hours. MGS2 is very easy if you just remember where people are, you don't have to worry as much as MGS4. And MGS1 is laughable...simply because its dated now. It was hard to make a game hard back then...kinda lol. |

You actually thought MGS3 was harder then MGS2? I think MGS2 is the hardest, followed up by 4. I never gotten the one in MGS2, but I did play it on Extreme and even that was hard. Very Easy huh? I think your either full of yourself, or you're a liar. It takes more then just to remember where people are... No Radar, 8 Saves, Extreme... About the not worrying more in MGS4. Hell, you can save in every area in MGS4 if you want, how is that worrying? Edited by ..Liquid.., Jul 4 2008, 03:53 PM.

MGS2, then 3, then 4. I don't know how hard MGS1 BB, but Twin Snakes is fairly easy. @Solidfox: I think the only problem with MGS4 BB was the infinite save thing, 25 saves for MGS2 FOXHOUND was way too much, I'd say 10-14 would be a good amount. Wow, way to over emote about something that really doesn't matter...hope you do realize that people are different...or did you not notice that I'm not the only one that said the same thing...look at the other post who said MGS3 was harder then MGS2, why just pick out me and call "ME" the lair? Imo it is easier, just the way I play. You don't even need that many saves for either of the games if you know what your doing. If you don't agree, then fine, I don't care. But don't try to call somebody out because they find one game harder then another. I find MGS4 to be around the same level of difficulty as well, I went straight from Liquid easy to The Boss extreme. Only part I really had trouble with was the beginning before I got my weapons...mostly because I wasn't used to the heightened senses of the enemy. After that, the difficulty everybody raves about just tends to be over rated. I was worried about act 3 because people claimed to continuously fail, but I went through that on my first try. Other then the beginning only real problem I had was the beginning of act 2, trying to get up the ledges without getting an alert...mostly because of some reason the militia kept getting an alert on me although they wouldn't attack. They'd just go into alert mode for a second then calm down and accept me. Edited by solidfox, Jul 6 2008, 02:27 PM.

Lol. One thing's for certain - Tsuchinoko on MPO is NOT the hardest. It's not even the top rank on that game. Foxhound is. I'd say MGS2 is hardest, mainly because of the low save count thing and lack of radar. Edited by G.J.V., Jul 11 2008, 07:49 PM.

Over emote? Where? I don't see why you should think I PICKED out YOU to tell you you're a liar. It's the way you said it that annoyed me. You're acting so arrogant about the whole matter.
I don't do that, you said it so overconfident, that's what annoyed me. You said MGS1 is Laughable, well when I play now I find it quite hard to get the Big Boss. And I never got the Big Boss in that game, simply, I never tried.
You're doing it again. Acting all so arrogant, like you're the man or some shit. You basically think you need something to prove, I can honestly admit that Big Boss in MGS4 although not the hardest thing in any game, and not the hardest rank to obtain even. I had quite a few more problems with it, a lot of restarting. You say you only really had problems at two parts, the rest was cake. That slightly annoys me, hence why I called you a liar, cause I know you had to restart other area's as well. Or you just saved at every new area. This is all I will say about this, and I think so should you. Unless you wanna go on with this pointless argument? I already said what I think about it now, and so did you. Call it easy, but don't act so overconfident on something what others found troubling, and actually enjoyed doing it, and felt like they accomplished something. |

I think you look waaaaay to into things. I in no way try to act 'arrogant' and my opinion on each games difficulty is purely that, MY opinion, on which was harder for ME.
of course I'm going to respond when somebody randomly tries to attack me for saying what I think.
I say you over emote, for the same thing you just did with your last post. You act as if my entire post was made to offend you. And you just came out swinging, trying to call my own opinions as a 'lie'? It doesn't even make sense to tell me that what I think...isn't what I think...
Once again, my own opinion was stated. What is so wrong with being able to say what I think? I was saying that compared to the other MGS games, this wasn't even in the ballpark on difficulty. As said before, you hadn't even posted yet and you are acting as if everything I said was aimed at you as if to insult you.
Did you even see me say that I DIDN'T die at other areas? I stated those different areas because they were where I had the MOST problems, IE doing them over and over many many times. I'm just going to roll over and ignore this...you clearly have some type of complex where you believe people are trying to act better then you simply because they felt something was easier then you did. Yes, I felt the game was easy. Why? because it was easier then other games I played. Doesn't mean I was being 'arrogent'...it means I thought it was easier. Edited by solidfox, Jul 6 2008, 03:13 PM.

Personally I've never tried MGS1 in extreme mode, But I've done MGS2 + 3 in extreme and they tested me like no other game has done before. As for MGS4 I started Extreme yesterday and havent died yet (nearly at the part where U meet rat patrol and have heard it's) but I've read that later on in the game (Act 3 chase scene most notibly) it gets immensly difficult but looking forward to the challenge none the less. |

Extreme is very hard in all games the first time around, but if you pay enough attention you can go through MGS2 easily on extreme, you may not have a radar, but if you understand your surroundings, it's pretty easy to imagine what the radar would look like in real time. As for MGS, well, I find MGS3 on easy more of a challenge. |

I would say, from personal experience, that MGS2 is the hardest rank. 3 is the easiest for me, explaining why it's the only one I've got. Really, anyone can do a Foxhound, the 5 hour time limit is generous, 25 saves is also friendly, and other than that, you just need time and patience. MGS4 seems ridiculous. I know I haven't played it, and I'm sorry, but I just CANNOT accept that you should be allowed unlimited saves on a Big Boss run. I don't care how hard the game is, that is just stupid. Maybe the difficulty of the rest of the game makes up for this..... But yeah, I see why so many people have the BB rank already. MGS1 - This seems very tough. Not least because I suck so much at MGS1, it hurts. Though again, 80 saves is stupid, the rest of the requirements are pretty tough.MGS2 is evil for me, I think I could accomplish the rank, if I could tone down the saving a bit, but the Tengus cause me so many problems, it's just hell on that first area with them. I know I could do the coolant trick, but I want to play it on Sub, so I can see the rank picture, and the trick doesn't work in Sub. But yes...The requirements here are the tightest overall in the MGS series, and for that reason, I'd put it above the rest. I need to get these ranks really, but I am weak at main game in comparison to sub modes. Just would be nice to get the highest rank in all MGS games, and I'll do my best to make sure I do. |
