So, forum readers, what Metal Gear game did you first play that sucked you into the Metal Gear Universe? I sadly didnt know how great the original MGS was from the small demo I played back in the day (my first real experience). So I skipped out on the original but found my way to Sons of Liberty, and that is what truly sucked me in. I went out and got MGS1 the next day. I've included only the most integral titles so as to keep the poll simple. You know how many games there are under this series... EDIT: Damn, a typo in the Poll Title, and no edit button. Snake Eater was my first. Well, I did technically get SoL first, but I only played about five minutes of it before trading it in (I was only 9 or something and didn't understand it) From there I got SoL, then MGS1, then MPO and finally MGS4. Haven't played either of the original MG games. |

I played Snake's Revenge first.  But since it can't really be classified as a series game I'll go with Metal Gear, which I played a while after Snake's Revenge. |

MGS1 was my first when I was like eight years old, and it was what hooked me to the series. I'm really not sure whether I played 2 or 3 first. I think I had played 2 a little bit but never owned it myself until after I bought and beat 3. I've also played MG1 on my computer but I didn't make it anywhere. |

Same for me i was like 8-9 years old at the time i didn't understand you don't kill you sneak haha. Must try to find on the wii arcade or pray for downloadable off PSN |

my 1st time was with mgs:D i had 2 play it in black and white on my chipped psx because i had the american version.i only played half of snakeater,it just wasnt for me i didnt like having 2 change my camo evry couple of seconds |

Metal Gear Solid. I remember being a kid playing that game and loving it. None of my friends ever played the older Metal Gear games, so I never really got into that. But when MGS came out I went to the stores and got it and was just amazed. MGS1 is still my favorite Metal Gear game. |

Metal Gear Solid, in 1997. In retrospect I was a bit young to play it, but I enjoyed the hell out of it. After I finished MGS I borrowed a neighbours NES (I was a SEGA kid, come to think of it I was the only kid on my block without a Nintendo console) so I could play Metal Gear. But it wasn't until 2000 that I became a true fan of MGS. |

Looks like Metal Gear Solid will get a lot of votes here.. as it also was my first Metal Gear (Solid) game. I played almost all of them in order of their release. Played through and finished all games in this order (all on the Playstation consoles):

Unfortunately, I discovered the metal gear saga only with MGS2.... and it's even my least favourite of them all. Back in the MGS days, I dumbly didn't try the game because I thought it was all about war and didn't have an interesting story with it. Go figure! |
