Snake-eating Son of A Patriot

Does anyone think Psycho Mantis's power was real? Or could the hallucinations have been caused by some sort of nerve toxin, similar to what the Scarecrow used in Batman Begins? It would make sense, where Mantis always wore a gas mask everywhere. |

"Everything has its beginning. But it doesn't start at one. It starts long before that - in chaos. The world is born - from zero. The moment zero becomes one is the moment the world springs to life. One becomes two, two becomes 10, 10 becomes 100. Taking it all back to one solves nothing. So long as zero remains, one will eventually grow to 100 again." - Spoiler: click to toggle Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots[/big]

It's an interesting theory, but I think his powers are real. He talks about when he was younger and he discovered his power. Plus he appears in Guns of the Patriots too. |

Thanks for the spoiler, but I still think it's got to be some sort of nerve toxin lol. |

No, I'm pretty sure it's an actual power. It's influenced by Music remember, and the reason he can't read Snake's mind is because we change the controller port (i.e. blocking our mind). If Snake puts on a gas mask, nothing happens in the fight, suggesting it isn't gas. Not only that, it is explained somewhere that Mantis wears the mask to filter out other people's thoughts, so his head isn't justa trafficway for background noise. It would drive him insane surely. It allows focus. Don't forget the Genome soliders were also influenced by Mantis, and there is NO way in hell that toxin gas could have been spread through the open areas of Alaska. It would dissipate far too quickly. AND other memebers of Foxhound were unaffected, and they had no gasmasks. I like the idea, I just don't think the game suggest's it in anyway, shape or form. I think your point about the guards is a pretty good observation Plus DARPA and Armstech knew about powers similar to Mantis' so they gave Baker and Anderson brain surgery. Like Natasha said, a lot of organizations use psychic soldiers |
