Am I the only one who thinks movies are just….boring nowadays? I can recall only a few new films I have enjoyed in the past few years since Star Wars Episode 3 came out. For example I loved Rambo 4 and Indiana Jones 4 but even these were sequels to old much loved films. Some would claim there have been a lot of good films in the past few years like Transformers or Iron Man etc. Personally I think these, as well as pretty much every other movie which has come out in the past few years, are crap. What has become of the movie industry? I’ve got so bored of seeing recent movies I’ve almost stop going to the cinema or buying DVDs all together. An interesting statistic to throw into the mix as well, the Movie industry has been beaten by the Video game industry in the past 4 or 5 years so are there a lot of people like me out there and thus the movie industry is getting smaller or is it the video game industry getting much bigger? |

I think the movie industry is getting bigger, and so is the gaming industry. And I totally don't agree with movies being boring nowadays. I saw a lot of great movies since during these years, I'm talking bout when they first came out. And this year has been also a great year for movies. The Departed, Blood Diamond, Death Sentence, Shoot 'Em Up, American Gangster, Room 1408 etc. These are great movies that came out in the period of 2006/2008, And I love them all. You could say the older movies are better, but meh. A lot of new movies coming out are appealing to me, I mean seriously: The fucking Dark Knight is almost in cinema's here. Movies will continue to be good, not every movie will, but it was always like that. |
![]() On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair. Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air. Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light. My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim, I had to stop for the night. There she stood in the doorway; I heard the mission bell, and I was thinking to myself, ’this could be heaven or this could be hell’. Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way. There were voices down the corridor, I thought I heard them say... | |

For me it's great. With the release of Batman Begins, Superman Returns, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk I've seen something that I thought was impossible: a comic book can actually be adapted to the big screen without sacrificing everything that makes the comic good (I'm looking at you Spiderman) and that's excellent for me and gives me hope for the likes of Thor, Antman and Wolverine. Plus action movies have never been better, I grew up on movies like Predator, Commando and Backdraft so when I see or hear about something like Wanted or Tropic Thunder I get giddy like a schoolboy. One thing I dislike nowadays is that a movie can't do something without being accused of copying another film, taking Wanted for an example one of the main criticisms that I've seen is that it uses "Bullet Time" and that it copies the Matrix because of that, but the bullet time in Wanted is absolutely nothing at all like that in the Matrix trilogy. Although I have to confess I haven't bought a DVD in a long time due to downloading (yes I'm naughty) |

Nooo Heli. Spidey 1 and 2 are awesome dude. It was just 3 that fucked it up. Roy, I disagree heavily. In the last 3 years I'll name movies off the top of my head that were awesome. The Departed Blood Diamond Pan's Labryinth No Country For Old Men There Will Be Blood Sin City Batman Begins The Bourne Ultimatum Children Of Men All of them exceptional films. There are others too, but they fail me right now. |

I agree with you Roy, I've disliked most of the recent movies that have come out, including Transformers and Iron Man and the like. For example, everybody seems pumped for Wall-E but me, Pixar seem to have gone downhill since The Incredibles. Though I liked Indiana Jones 4, it wasn't as good as the orginals. @Null: The only two movies in your list I think are any good are No Country For Old Men and Sin City. I'm looking forward to The Dark Knight, however, even though I didn't really enjoy Batman Begins, but that's cause I love Batman. |

I'm better at Metal Gear Solid than you will ever be. Prove me wrong. What is wrong with me? I’m not a monster! Why won’t anybody fuck me? I don’t want to live life lonely! Why does everyone have to be perfect?

Well, different people like different movies. I'm honestly not quite sure how you can fail to appreciate the other films but each to their own I guess.
Me or Roy? |

They are not my all time favourite films, they are just films that have come out in the last 2 or 3 years that have been exceptional. |
