So my top two friends (one's a guy, one's a girl) are such great friends to me that I consider them like brother and sister (and they say they think the same). I feel this so much for the latter friend that a part of me wishes I actually could adopt her as a little sister (she's two years younger). I'm just wondering if anyone else here has that kind of bond with any of their friends. If so do tell |

Ugh... this is just my own opinion, but for me, truly reliable friends do not exist. Sure there's family, but that's something else. I mean, it's okay to mess around together in our free time, but nothing beyond that. |

Never really been close to anyone. Let alone "super close". Had no idea anyone could be that close to another person. I mean, there is a friend I would take a bullet for, but thats just because he is an excellent human being. Worth much more than my sorry ass. He's what every guy wants to be, and the guy every girl wants to be with. There is no doubt in my mind he will go far in his life and put his place in history. But where just really good friends, but not close or anything... We rarely talk to each other now, we haven't seen each other in a while now, but we have developed this sense of camaraderie in which our friendship will always be there no matter the amount of time in between our interactions. But there has been no one that I have ever really considered to be a part of my family. Not even my own family. It feels like I was preordained to always feel alone, regardless whether or not I actually am. Could be because I was neglected often in my elementary and middle school years. So its this sense of isolation that I constantly have that keeps me from believing that I can ever have a 'close friend'. Let alone a 'super close friend'. Edited by iAn, Jun 8 2008, 04:18 PM.

I thought at one time that I had two friends like that, but they both abandoned me for no clear reason. I trusted both of them more so than anyone else and they trusted me just the same. There was no event to my knowledge that even caused the drift in the first place. But despite my attempts, they just sort of drifted and/or cut off contact completely, leaving me to wonder what the fuck I even did wrong. After a shitload of thinking though, I think I've realized that it must be ME.. just 'me' in general. Maybe I have character flaws; maybe I'm annoying or lame by their standards.. but either way, I've always been trustworthy to the max and I've always been there for friends.. I'm not confrontational or anything and, despite what this post may suggest (lawl), I'm not the type of dramatic bullshit. Which is why I just kinda kept trying to rekindle the friendships rather than pester them to understand wtf was up. But in the end, it just kept becoming more and more obvious.. But aye, anyways.. back to the topic at hand, I find it very hard to get close to people these days. I really never abandon friends, but it's happened so many times for blurry reasons, it's fucked up. Perhaps some hearts are true in the larger scale of things, but not nearly enough. In the meantime, trust will remain limited and I guess I'll only have 'good' friends rather than 'best'. I miss that kind of bond with someone, but that shit hurts more than what it's worth, true dat. |

Yeah, I have friend, who is female, and she's like one of my best friends and I like to call her my sister. I've never met her before but she always helps me out with my problems and I always help her out. There is also someone called Marcus, who is 'spannerman' on this forum, and he's like a brother to me. We always go out together and we always stick up for each other with everything. We also talk about MGS all the time  Aaron

I of course friends that I care deeply for, like my best friends, people I've known since I was in diapers. But none that I consider to be family like brothers, because to me, there is no way to place the two, blood and water in the same pedestal, that's just my opinion that is, because I think it's completely acceptable to feel that way about friends, I just have yet to feel that way. |

My best friend Dave was family. I've known him since I was 5. In highschool his parents moved so I told him he could live in my house till he graduated. He lived with us for a little over 4 years. Since he left I've havent heard from him. Must be about 5 years since the last time I heard from him. Actually kinda ticks me off after all I've done for him. |

I would say you could hae friends that close, I mean I thought I had a few people like that at one point, but I've kinda changed my mind, now I would only describe two of my friends as being like family, the others I've cooled off towards for one reason or another. This might sound rough but I would choose them over my parents, sounds harsh I know, but just they way I see things. |
