I'm sure most of you have competed MGS4 by now, and hopefully the entire series all together. So now I ask you, what are your top 10 favorite moments that span the entire life of MGS series? This was very hard for me to make. I put the scenes from MGS4 in spoil tags. And I tried to add a video for each scene. 10 MGS2 - Nobody seemed to like Emma, but she personally gave me my favorite scene from MGS2...her death. It was emotional, especially with her parrot repeating, "Hal, I miss you." For the longest time I had the image in my head of her working alone in her lab, crying and saying those words so much that the bird remembered it. MGS2 Emma's Death Part 1 MGS2 Emma's Death Part 2 9 MGS1 - I don't know why I like this scene so much...I guess its because of the music that played in it. During the scene before Snake takes out Liquid in the hind. When Otacon meets up with him at the elevator and Snake tells him that he believes love can bloom on the battlefield. 8 MGS4 - Spoiler: click to toggle 7 MGS4 - Spoiler: click to toggle 6 MGS1 - The death of Gray Fox...this also goes with the convo between Snake and Naomi at the end...where he tells her how big of a hero he was, despite his last wishes. I wish I could put this higher on my list, because the words of Fox truly changed my life. MGS1 Gray Fox's death 5 MGS1 - The death of Sniper Wolf....simply great, my favorite death of a boss. The song enclosure makes this perfect. They ruined it in Twin Snakes MGS1 Wolf's death 4 MGS4 - Spoiler: click to toggle 3 MGS4 - [/url] Spoiler: click to toggle 2 MGS1 - The non canon ending of Meryl's death. The music was perfect "Enclosure" emotions were high...and it had the perfect dialogue. Such a great scene. They ruined it in Twin Snakes MGS1 Meryl's death 1 MGS3 - The entire ending of MGS3, starting from the second Big Boss wakes up and you hear Eva start narroting the words, "In the book of..." It gets even more powerful when the music picks up as you see The Boss crying and Eva saying, "Her life was to be ended by her most beloved disciple."...and so on, you guys know how it goes. MGS3 Ending Honorable Mentions MGS1 - When Sniper Wolf Snipes Meryl and she's laying there talking to Snake. MGS1 - When Liquid dies...I love how he says, "Fo....Fox...." just brilliant...they ruined it in Twin Snakes. MGS3- Shooting The Boss MGS1- "Brother! Did you like my sunglasses?" MGS1 - Beginning... Naomi Codec Bleh, I'm just gonna shut up before I ramble on and mention every moment of MGS. Edited by solidfox, Jul 4 2008, 02:41 PM.

10. MGS1- Pre-fight conversation between Vulcan and Snake in the warehouse, where Snake starts realizing the lack of sense in fighting without a cause. Also when Snake quips "You must have done quite well in the Muktuk eating contest" it always makes me giggle. 9. MGS2- When Olga gets killed by Solidus. When Raiden in shock says "OLGAAAhhh" it always hits me hard. 8. MGS3- At the end of the game where Big Boss is listening to EVA's audiotape confessing the true nature of "Snake Eater". 7. MGS2- Snake walking across the bridge in the rain with a lit cigerette is the pinnacle of all cool video game opening cutscenes. 6. MGS1- When Snake meets Otacon. 5. MGS3- The conversation between Lyndon Johnson and Khrushev. 4. MGS1- Spotting Meryl in disguise. 3. MGS2- Ocelot revealing his role to Dead Cell, Raiden, and Snake at the end of the game. 2. MGS3- Torture scene. Easily one of the most brutal and intense scenes in gaming history. 1. MGS2- Otacon's series of speeches following Emma's death. Almost Shakespearean in its language and goes into deeper territory than any other game before it. |

10 - The death of Gray Fox. It was such a great game moment. It really was. The music, the emotion, the fact Snake couldnt fire at the machine...It got to me. 9. The first time we meet Vamp, and he slaughter's the SEAL team, and dodges an insane number of bullets. It was that part of the game that made my attachment to Vamp, and to this DAY he is one of my favourite MGS characters. 8. Ocelot killing Gurlukovitch and his men. That was a great scene. Ocelot is a bad ass, and the origional MGS never really showed his fighting potential, so Im glad they did in MGS2. 7. The beginning of MGS4 and the 'War has changed' speech. Brilliant. 6. MGS 3- The bridge fight between Boss and Big Boss. It just proved how good the Boss was, and how difficult Naked Snake's mission would be. Plus, Volgin was great in this scene. 5. Shooting the Boss- Wow...as bad as the Grey Fox death, but moreso as you had to pull the trigger. Especially after everything they went through together. 4. MGS4- Snake, on multiple occasions, saying that he wasn't a hero. That was really touching. We all are screaming at the TV he is, and he's sat there all sad. 3. MGS1- The first appearance of Psycho Mantis when he says 'Good girl. Just like that.' It made me as a player think 'Oh god. How am I going to beat him.' 2. MGS1- Sniper Wolf's death. Heart wrentching scene, especially with the music. It was so emotional, and she died for the wrong reasons. I felt remorse for killing her. 1. MGS 3- The End of the game, where EVA explains the Boss' intentions. It made me love the Boss, and Big Boss after he saluted her grave. It was perhaps the greatest moment in gaming history ever. I'll separate this into two lots. Gameplay and Story. Gameplay. 10 - MGS3. The first time I started the End battle. I saw the hugeness of the first area alone I was blown away and slightly scared, thinking "Fuck me, I've gotta a green guy in this?" 9 - MGS 2. The entire Tanker section. Hand on heart, at the time I would have been very satisfied with MGS 2 if the game had simply ended at the climax of the Tanker section. A perfect example of what MGS should be about. It was the game I had waited 3 years to play. Of course it didn't end there... 8 -MGS 2. Enter Raiden. No other game has caused so many emotions to course through me using gameplay alone. 7 - MGS 3. The motorbike chase. I'm normally hate on rails shooters, but this was a great section. 6 - MGS 4. Liquid Sun, all of it. One of my favourite sections of Metal Gear Solid 4 is the Middle Eastern chapter. In my opinion it is a perfect example of what a third person game set on a battlefield should be all about. 5 - MGS. Solid Snake Versus Psycho Mantis. You know the reasons. 4 - MGS 2. Arsenal Gear Shootout. Fighting side by side with Snake wand watching him wade through an entire battalion of high tech ninjas. This was the exact point that I realized why I was playing as Raiden. 3 - MGS 3. The Ladder of DOOOOM!. I hate this section with a passion, but I can't wait to get to it whenever I play MGS 3. 2 - MGS 4. Spoiler: click to toggle . This is what Payton meant by somewhere we've been wanting to go for 20 years. I was very worried about this section when I first saw the hint of it in the TGS 2007 trailer, but by God, Kojima actually managed to pull it off.1 - MGS 4. Spoiler: click to toggle . Walking over the hill and seeing the place for first time (in MGS 4 graphics at least) broke my heart, it's where the prospect of "this might be the last MGS game" finally hit me. A rush of memories from the first time I ever laid my eyes on the place, The Best Is Yet To Come in the background and walking up to a surveillance camera. Perfect.Story. 10- MGS 3. Major Ocelot and the Ocelots Versus Naked Snake. One "word" is all that is needed to describe this scene: PWND. 9 - MGS 2. Shalashaska steals RAY. The first time that I fully realized just what Metal Gear Solid is: it's not a video game with movie like cutscenes. It's a movie with interactive shots. 8 - MGS. Gray Fox Versus the Genomes. The first time I realized that ninja and swords are cool. 7 - MGS 4. The first appearance of Ed and Jonathan. Damn cool. Also the source of one of my few dislikes about the game: I didn't learn anything about either of them. 6 - MGS 3. The Murder of the Boss. The first time in videogaming that I regretted killing a bunch of pixels. Couple it with EVA's Debriefing and you have the most epic tragedy ever written. 5 - MGS. The Death of Sniper Wolf. Perfect music and the first time I started wondering "Just who the hell is Big Boss?". 4 - MGS 4. Enter Raiden, V2. Raiden, you are forgiven. Greater than any action sequence in any film ever. 3 - MGS 4. Spoiler: click to toggle The sight (or rather sound) of Liquid Ocelot giggling like a schoolboy made me nearly choke to death on the pizza I was eating at the time. Oh plus the whole Raiden thing.2 - MGS 4. Spoiler: click to toggle . The first time I ever thought "Wow, war really is pointless".1 - MGS 4. Spoiler: click to toggle . Sunny's questions are gut wrenching. This was the only time that I thought "I really wish I hadn't spoiled the true ending for myself.

10. MGS2 - Campbell AI going crazy. I was actually pretty scared when I first played the game, I didn’t know what the hell was going on, “Turn the games console off right now” “I’ll do the fighting, you can just go home” and so on - amazing. 9. MGS4 - Spoiler: click to toggle 8. MGS1 - Yes…Mr President. What a way to end a great game with a huge plot twist, damn I was confused. 7. MGS3 - The Boss scene. Having to actually kill The Boss intertwined into a cutscene was a very sad moment, at this point, you still don’t know why she defected or whose side she was on but she was very close to Snake and therefore the player, it was horrible to have to eliminate her. 6. MGS4 - Spoiler: click to toggle 5. MGS4 - Spoiler: click to toggle 4. MGS3 - Eva’s explanation. Another moment where Kojima turned the whole game on its head, Eva and The Boss’ true identities were revealed. Eva’s explanation of it was great, especially when she started crying when talking about The Boss saying she will go down in history as a war criminal meanwhile Big Boss is saluting her grave. The saddest part in the whole the MGS series before MGS4 came out. 3. MGS4 - Spoiler: click to toggle 2. MGS1 - Did you like my sunglasses Snake? It was a very epic moment when Liquid revealed he was Master Miller and Snake had been ‘working for Liquid’ all along by inputting the Pal Codes, its such a head fuck. Not only that but the whole Snake and Liquid being clones is explained. My first plot twist in the MGS saga. 1. MGS4 - Spoiler: click to toggle Edited by Roy Campbell, Jul 4 2008, 07:38 PM.

- So, is it true? Was Big Boss really your father? - That's what he said. That's all I know. - And you were able to kill him, knowing that? - Yup. - How? - He wanted it. Besides, some people just need killing... No, wait..scratch that. ..This is good, isn't it? | |

I haven't played MGS4 yet, but heres what stuck with me so far... 10. MGS2- Final codec moment with Peter Stillman- The music that starts building when he says "...microwave. Its not a technique I tought him" sent chills up my spine. Then as the music fades out....BAM! "AGHHHH!" Great suspense moment. I always thought Stillman was an underrated character. 9. MGS2- The whole Ocelot scene where he kills Scott Dolph, Gurlokovich, and steals RAY. 8. MGS2- When the Colonel AI and Rose reveal to Raiden the Patriots plans. "Should someone who thinks like you be given the right to make your own choices? You've done nothing but abuse your freedom." "Is that even your own idea, or something you just heard Snake say?" It got you so pissed off at them, but you knew they were right. 7. MGS2 - When Fortune saves everyone from the RAY missles. "Everybody Down!" almost made me think everyone was on the same side as Raiden, Snake, and Solidus all watched in awe. 6. MGS1 - Sniper Wolf's death - Not much i could say that everyone else hasn't already. Just a brilliant scene. 5. MGS1 - Gray Fox's Death - See above 4. MGS2 - President Johnson's quote "Even if a pawn becomes a queen, it is still just a playing piece." Always was one of my favorite lines. 3. MGS3- The scene in the WIG between BB and Ocelot. No matter which ending you got after the shootout, I always loved the display of mutual respect they had for each other. "Plain name...but I won't forget it." "Til we meet again...John" 2. MGS2- When Ocelot verbally SLAMS Solidus and Fortune on Arsenal Gear, telling Solidus he accomplished nothing on his own and how Fortune being screwed over over and over again was all planned just to keep Dead Cell intact. 1. MGS3- The ending scene. More powerful than any movie, book, or other video game I've ever seen. I think BB recieved a fate worse than death. At the end of the day, he had killed his mother figure, lost his only love interest, and was left screwed over by the very people he was fighting for. EVA's gradual breakdown crying made the scene too as BB saluted his mentor at her grave. |
