I guess this is only happening in canada with a certain router (Linksys), thats what it seems to be anyway from the little I have learned from going around online. Anyway it seems to be happing in canada and the problem is that the connection is crap or something. Some things will not update I have 6 games.... I can only play 2. One i can't even play online. All because the stuff wont update. It gets to 2% or 1% or 0% and takes forever and then I get an error message. My system updates are fine they update. Its games. My older games and some newer ones. I got call of duty 4 today, I can't update, I can't play it. I got GTA a little while ago. It updated after many trys, I still cannot play online! It wont update to let me. So It seems I have to fix the router or something. Great I can fix it. Or can I? no. It seems there is one big problem with my problem. I do not have the authorization to change shit. This isn't my house or my families house. I am a live in nanny after all. So how do I bring up that I need to mess with their router? Um oh hi. Yeeaaaah sooooooo.... I'm gonna need some authorization to fiddle with your router because my ps3 and your router arn't getting along.... thats gonna work Basically I am stuck for a year of Only 2 of my games kinda working? Or I suck it up and try and explain what I need changed. I also have no idea what I need to do. These people i live with know less about computers and technology then me.... argh. Can anyone share my pain? Does anyone have helpful links? I can't seem to find any. Also has something like this happen to you with your ps3? Edited by Viewer_Discretion, Aug 10 2008, 11:43 PM.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots	I don't know what's wrong with the online connection, but you're saying you can't play a game cause it wont update, even though online is turned out? I mean, when you put in, for example, CoD4, the disc should update the game, even if online is turned off. I didn't have online, and I could play all my games just fine, and the discs updated the PS3. It must be a problem with your PS3 then.

Even when I couldn't go online, the games updated themselves WITHOUT using internet, and I just played them fine. Quote: I got call of duty 4 today, I can't update, I can't play it Meaning it must be your PS3. I might have a solution if it really is your router, just turn off the internet function on the PS3. Then when you start the game it shouldn't need to ask for a online update, then you could just play fine, offline.

New updates need to be downloaded, while having internet, you just said your PS3 messes up on that, which is just screwed up, unless you fix the router. Just turn of the internet, and play offline. If that's not possible, somethings wrong with your PS3.

The message I get is "An error occurred during the download operation." then some numbers P.S It works when offline. I still need/want to play online. I don't understand any of the terms and stuff when I look this shit up. It's frustrating. I used to just be like. Daaaaad. Now that I don't live home that's kinda hard. Plus I got no man to show me this stuff.

l\|[NIИ]\|l Posts: 3,229 Group: Members Member #736 Joined: December 31, 2004	im not in canada but i got the same problem (and have a lynksys), i put in a game and if it asks for an update it stops at a low percentage, i remedy this by simply trying over and over till it finally works, or just bypassing the update screen by pressing the O button but you say there is a cure? you just cant get it? You're just disabling the media server which means you're refusing connection to share data from DLNA-compatible devices such as your personal computer. For more information click the link: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/connectdlna.html Just enable it if you want to to use it. I'm pretty sure you don't really need it as of now.
