I think Fitch will be GSP's toughest opponent since BJ Penn, but I've heard that George is in amazing shape for this fight and I think he'll finish Fitch sometime in the third or fourth round. Fitch might actually be bigger than GSP and his cardio should be just as good. It'll definitely be a war. We'll truly find out who the better athlete is.

I think Brock will likely get a few takedowns on Herring in the first, but I'm positive he's going to gas himself out quickly just like he did against Mir. He'll go into the fight extremely nervous and blow all of his energy right at the start. Heath will capitalize on this and finish him with a TKO towards the end of the first round or early in the second.

KenFlo and Huerta should be an amazing fight also. I can't wait for this one. I think Kenny's got what it takes to come out on top in a unanimous decision, but I also thought Guida would win the decision against Huerta as well, so I'm definitely interested to see what he brings to a guy like KenFlo. Huerta has stated that he plans on having a belt by the end of '08, either at 155 or 170 (but he says it won't be against GSP because he'll be at 185 by then, which I doubt personally). We'll see how that goes.

Can't wait for the show, though. Should be excellent.

I really hate to double-post, but it's been almost a month since the last post and the event's this Saturday. I'd like to see if I can get some discussion going about this, considering it is one of the greatest fight cards in UFC history.

Right now I've seen everything but the weigh-ins (which are later today) and it looks to me like (the guy in my av for those that don't know) St. Pierre is as ready as ever, and Jon Fitch looks just as prepared. Same goes with Florian and Huerta. Both fights should prove to be excellent displays of MMA.

There's also Brock Lesnar versus Heath Herring, which will be interesting regardless of how boring it may be. Heath has little to no ability to stop takedowns, but Brock gasses himself out immediately. I see Heath getting the TKO after Brock gasses out late in the first or early in the second, but it's possible he could get the takedowns in each round and hold Heath down for a win.

Hell yeah. I'm not even Canadian and I'm all for GSP, lol.

Fitch is a hell of a fighter and, as GSP said, he'll likely prove to be his biggest challenge to date. Fitch is a guy who will make GSP look small, so it should be interesting. GSP's definitely in the best shape of his life, though, and I see him taking it some time in the third with a TKO.

GSP took it in five rounds to a decision. He easily won this fight when it came to decision.

BJ Penn... is next!

He totally destroyed Fitch in every round. He did end up on his back for a short time, but he didn't get taken down whatsoever. His left eye was a little busted up, but you wouldn't have known it by looking at the way he performed. Absolute dominate for him as usual. He's ready for BJ.

Here's a video of St. Pierre/Fitch for anybody interested in watching one of the greatest fights in UFC history:

I think his next fight against BJ in December will be the toughest test of his career. I think BJ will be in far better condition for this fight than he was in his last, and I think he'll push Georges to his limits even more than he did in their first fight. Some people think GSP is gonna walk all over him, but that won't happen. I'm interested to see how it goes. It'll be a true pound for pound showdown.

Fitch has got as much heart as anybody in the game. I'm not at all surprised he survived St. Pierre's onslaught. There's a good chance he'll be a champion in the future, but it's clear that right now GSP rules the welterweight division.

yeah i'd say its pretty clear that he does. For somebody who didn't wrestle in school who had pretty much no kinda training when he was young, the guy is a rocket in the octagon.

but yeah Fitch, will be a champion in the future that im pretty much sure of too.

Actually GSP started doing karate at age 6 (though karate's not a very effective form of martial arts). That definitely helped him with his striking, balance, athleticism and all that at a young age, though. It also makes your legs very strong, which is good for tons of things in MMA, like sweeps from the bottom.

Yeah, as you said, he had no background whatsoever in wrestling. Most of the great wrestlers in MMA like Jon Fitch, Josh Koscheck, Matt Hughes, Sean Sherk, etc. all either had a lot of experience wrestling in high school or college, whereas St. Pierre is able to out wrestle all of them without having any previous wrestling training at all.

As far as karate goes, though, he started that at age six. I'm not sure when he started stuff like BJJ, muay thai, boxing/kickboxing and all that, but he did start karate at six.

the guy has mad skills. I watched his first fight with BJ not to long ago...i've seen so many MMA fans bitching saying GSP shoulda lost but after watching the fight its clear GSP won..he scored takedown after takedown.

good fight though..really good can't wait for the second one
